Go read the first paragraph that we wrote lefty - we clearly state that recycling in and of itself is a good thing. But we already pay for garbage collection via something called property taxes. If we are doing the job of garbage men, shouldn't we get a tax credit? The mayor is attempting to have taxpayers do something that should be already paid for, but he doesn't want to raise taxes to pay for the extra effort. As to your woeful understanding of capitalism and economics, if you reward positive behavior via tax breaks or credits, you get more of it, i.e. a higher recycling rate. Everyone would win, but you don't seem to want that. Typical communist - "let's all be cold, miserable and poor together."

Are these hilarious numbers or what? They ask 67 more democrats and 48 more independents that Republicans and then pass the numbers off as a legitimate sampling of voters. Let's clue Lefty and his people in - if you oversample certain groups, you skew polls. And it's a sample of a mere 1,000 likely voters. 1,000. How many votes were cast in the last off-year election? Somewhere in the area of 40 million? 50 million? More?

Hello SCC. How disheartening it is to see that you fellas still don't get it. It's actually kind of funny because the Bush administration and "neo-cons" in general understand it all just fine: the game is up and, unlike yourselves, they take those polls quite seriously I can assure you.
Huge swaths of the US population are now on to these dangerous clowns. Can't you smell their desperation? Everything these zealots have touched has turned to sand. Note the following:
1) The Iraqi debacle is perhaps the greatest foreign policy disaster in this nation's history. Over 650,000 Iraqi dead, 3,000 US troops killed with another 20,000 wounded and maimed, a nation utterly destroyed, and America's reputation in complete tatters, all at a cost of over 300 million dollars per day--paid for with insurmountable foreign debt.
2) The 400 billion dollar US "defense" budget outstrips the next 25 nations on the list COMBINED, contributing to a national debt that is unpayable. [note: China is one of our largest creditors and this emerging power has less fear and respect for the US government--post-Iraqi quagmire--than at anytime since it battled our forces to a stand-still in Korea].
3) The Bush adminstration's hyper-aggressiveness and unprecedented threat of nuclear attack against a non-nuclear power, i.e Iran (which poses no threat to us) has spurred a race by other nations to aquire nuclear weapons (i.e North Korea)as a deterent to The Decider and his power-mad handlers. Couple this with the Bush adminstration's unconscionable policy of abandoning its nuclear non-proliferation treaties with other nuclear powers such as Russia--thus prompting these powers to upgrade there nuclear forces in response--and the future is a little less promising for our children. Thanks Bush.
4) The Decider has taken our Constitution and wiped his ass with it.

(1) This alleged study that shows 650,000 dead Iraqis - is this from the same Lancet Journal that claimed mere months ago that the US killed 120,000 Iraqis? We think it is! And that number was proven to be bullshit months ago. So the Lancet comes up with a BIGGER number? Bwahahaha.
(2) Who cares how much bigger our defense budget is? It has nothing to do with any argument at hand. And if China holds all that paper, what happens if we just say "We aren't paying it?" and we default? We can still feed America and half a billion Chinese starve.
(3) Um, Iran has declared itself nuclear. They are enriching uranium. They'll have a bomb shortly and they'll use it on our allies - they just threatened Europe yesterday and they threaten Israel daily. And then they'll give it to terrorists who'll use it on us. So your contention that they are no threat to us is asinine and naive.
(4) Nice statement with absolutly no proof at all. Typical leftist stupidity. If you ever actually had to explain a position in less than a million words that didn't twist everything around to some crazy fictional world you dwell in, you're head would probably explode.

Our defense budget, as a percentage of GDP, is much smaller than the amount we spend on education. Education overshadows defense spending.

A Cook County judge Monday sentenced a former Chicago Fire Department battalion chief to three months in jail and six months of home confinement for plowing his pickup truck into the elderly woman's son as he changed a tire on a Kennedy Expy. ramp in November 2005.
Judge Nicholas Ford also ordered Joseph G. Guidi, 55, to begin serving his sentence after the holidays on Jan. 2. Cook County assistant state's attorney Jeff Allen had asked Ford for a prison term, noting Guidi -- though he had a cell phone -- had not called 911 for a dying Jose Luis Sandoval.
"I don't believe any sort of decision I was to make here today could help the families get over this," Ford said. "The families have to look within themselves."
But Ford also acknowledged the family and friends who testified on behalf of Guidi, calling him a good man and truly remorseful for driving after drinking six beers on the night the 44-year-old Sandoval died. Guidi, who pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated drunk driving, has no criminal history.

A few years back I had the opportunity to speak with a a gentlemen in California he related he knew other's from his state that were headed there along with himself. My understanding is you have to already have employment waiting or you have to have a set income to get in, does this sound accurate. I started looking into it briefly a few years back and it does appear to be one fine place to be able to call home.

Did your side of the aisle show the same incredulousness when George Clooney, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Streisand, Harry Reid and Howard Dean all made remarks about Charlton Heston's stance as NRA President. Continuous remarks about how he wasn't thinking straight (Chuckle-Chuckle) or how he must have his head examined (Chortle-Chortle) or my favorite "you know he’s loosing it" (Giggle-Giggle) where offered by all of the above. I guess the onset of Alzheimer’s is fair game for these lefties. If you bothered to listen to Mr. Limbaugh’s entire program, and put his remarks in the context they were offered, you might have a different view. Oh who the hell am I kidding, you lefties never take anything they way its offered. The left in this country gets its new via sound bites offered by the always left MSM All your ilk does is put your own self-serving spin on this issue.
I wish Mr. Fox nothing but the best in his life and I hope a cure for his disease is on the horizon. However, if he chooses to enter the political arena and play with the big boys he must assume the fallout that goes along with it.
