What the F$%&?

  • Mexico pleaded with President Bush on Monday to veto a Senate proposal to build a fence to keep illegal immigrants out, saying it could backfire by making the border less secure.
  • "The Mexican government strongly opposes the building of walls in the border area between Mexico and the United States," President Vicente Fox's spokesman Ruben Aguilar told reporters.
We can see why the Mexican government is scared shitless about the possibility of a wall going up on the border. Remittances back to Mexico are the biggest source of income aside from oil for the government and if the remittances stop flowing south, the Mexican government is going to actually have to deal with the crippling social ills that afflict the entire country.

Where the hell does Mexico get off telling the American government and people that a wall is bad for relations? A government that can't even stop tunnels thousands of yards long transporting illegal narcotics over the border from being built and protected by Mexican troops? Do yourself a favor Vicente - shut up.

First, you assholes ought to know by now that Vicente Fox is no longer president of Mexico!! Hasn't been for awhile now. . . Also, I wonder how many of you remember the Berlin Wall. This is a bad idea and will have unbelieveable ramifications.

I fail to see what would be wrong with granting this people citizenship. That way, you know who they are, they can be employed, they can pay taxes, they can own property, etc.

I think you're creating a problem rather than solving one. . .

Every time a minority group boycotts some company I go out of my way to buy that company's products to make up for any potential lost revenue... as long as the company stands firm. Next time Jesse Jackson or a bunch of illegals initiate a boycott, let's all band together and let these companies know that if they cave in to the demands of these mutts that the rest of us (the silent majority) will show them a REAL boycott that will put them out of business for good. It's time for the rest of us to stand up for what's right and not let Jesse, Jakes, Sharpton, and a bunch of illegal aliens dictate our public policies. Screw 'em!

The GOP's immigration problem: will the elites get a clue?

National Review, Sept 12, 2005 by John O'Sullivan

IMMIGRATION has long been the great sleeper issue in American politics, with two-thirds of the voters wanting less of it and the political and business elites wanting a great deal more. Time and again it has looked likely to break through this bipartisan barrier into public debate. On each occasion, however, the elites have suppressed any stirrings of public opposition--until the last few weeks.

Over that period, the following events have occurred:

One. Leading Democrats with serious political ambitions--Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico, Gov. Janet Napolitano of Arizona, Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, and Hillary Clinton (no additional identification necessary)--have all expressed concern about border security, illegal immigration, and the social costs that immigration imposes. Napolitano declared a state of emergency in border counties hit hard by illegals, and Richardson praised as "patriots" the Minutemen watching the border (President Bush had damned them as "vigilantes").

Two. Working behind the scenes, the White House has helped set up a new bipartisan coalition to push for more open immigration. It will be headed jointly by two former congressmen (one Republican, one Democrat); organized by a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, Ed Gillespie; and funded to the tune of between $50,000 and $250,000 by corporations such as Wal-Mart. It is to be called "Americans for Border and Economic Security" (or ABES) and it is meant to soften up public opinion on behalf of the president's immigration reforms.

According to most estimates, about 11 million undocumented immigrants are now in the U.S., with about 56% coming from Mexico and 22% from other Latin American countries.

Steinberg article said there are 37 Mill Blacks in the country. At this rate the Hisp are gonna blow past the blacks.

It's all about business:

What might the consequences be if illegal immigration was severely restricted and guest worker status made more difficult to achieve? We believe that the first and most noticeable effect would be on the business sectors that most heavily employ these workers -- among homebuilders, where undocumented workers provide much of the semiskilled labor, and in agriculture, where unskilled workers frequently work quite cheaply. Nursing home and some health-care workers might also be affected. (Some employers in these fields now shield themselves from penalties for using undocumented immigrants by doing their hiring through middlemen and subcontractors who are willing to take the risk -- and often a sizable chunk of the immigrants' pay to make it worth their while.)

We would expect to see costs for employers in these industries to gradually rise as the pool of cheap labor diminished. Those higher costs would likely be passed along to consumers, resulting in pricier homes, produce, and medical care, although the inflationary impact would likely be small. Indeed, one of the strongest arguments against large numbers of undocumented workers is that although they serve to keep prices down in the industries where they work, they do so by depressing wages.

Hidden cost of illegal immigration: ID theft

Red Tape Chronicles: Undocumented workers often use others' documents

• Immigration and ID theft
Bob Sullivan talks about stolen Social Security numbers on MSNBC.
MSNBC

In the noisy immigration debate raging in Washington, there is one voice NOT being heard: The voice of identity theft victims.

Behind many of the nation’s millions of undocumented workers are someone else's documents. To get a job, illegal immigrants need a Social Security number, and they often borrow one. As victim Melody Millet is fond of saying, U.S. citizens are being forced to share their identities with undocumented immigrants to give corporate America a steady supply of cheap labor.

Thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of Americans are right now sharing their identities with immigrants and don't know it. It is the dirty little secret of the immigration issue: By not dealing directly with the undocumented worker situation, the U.S government is actually encouraging identity theft. In fact, one can argue that the origins of the identity theft epidemic can be traced to the immigration issue.

The Canadian's are not sucking on our economic pacifier. Public aide helps those who are illegal also. You should have to show you are a citizen to get any type of public assistance ie... clinics and such. Go back to mexico, africa and where ever else you are sending the monies that we as American's give you. We pay taxes and social security so you can send it to a foreign country. Any other countries sending us money? Businesses are robbing the US by letting these people work. They pay under the table so they don't pay taxes for the "employees" and the profits they get for paying those "employees" nothing.

Rethinking Birthright Citizenship

October 2, 2006

A recent article in the Houston Chronicle discusses the problem of so-called anchor babies, children born in U.S. hospitals to illegal immigrant parents. These children automatically become citizens, and thus serve as an anchor for their parents to remain in the country. Our immigration authorities understandably are reluctant to break up families by deporting parents of young babies. But birthright citizenship, originating in the 14th amendment, has become a serious cultural and economic dilemma for our nation.

In some Houston hospitals, administrators estimate that 70 or 80% of the babies born have parents who are in the country illegally. As an obstetrician in south Texas for several decades, I can attest to the severity of the problem. It’s the same story in California, Arizona, and New Mexico. And the truth is most illegal immigrants who have babies in U.S. hospitals do not have health insurance and do not pay their hospital bills.

LOS ANGELES — This is part three of a five-part series looking at how illegal immigration affects U.S. border security, the criminal, health care and education systems, as well as the economy. Watch the series this week on FOX News Channel.

Overburdened by the uninsured and overwhelmed by illegal immigration (search), public health care in Los Angeles is on life support.

Sixty percent of the county's uninsured patients are not U.S. citizens. More than half are here illegally. About 2 million undocumented aliens in Los Angeles County alone are crowding emergency rooms because they can't afford to see a doctor.

According to the State Association of Hospitals (search), California's public health system is "on the brink of collapse." In Los Angeles County, patients can wait four days for a hospital bed and up to two years for gallbladder surgery.

Give our hospitals to illegal immigrants . . . and be done with it!

If you're an "undocumented" illegal immigrant, and you need medical attention — well, get on the "gravy train" for free healthcare compliments of our government, and struggling taxpayers to the tune of $1 billion smackeroos, set aside for your medical costs in six states. There's only one small hurdle, but I'm sure you've already had a lot of practice in getting past the hurdle before. It is quite simple: just don't admit that you're an illegal immigrant. And to help you beat the system and get by with your illegal activity — congress has ordered the "don't ask" policy to hospital staffs throughout the nation. You even have the blessing from our president to continue breaking the law. Now that's what I call eastern, western, northern and southern hospitality!

Only in America can the law-abiding citizens' feet be held to the fire, while foreigners are practically begged to break the laws here in America. We are definitely earning the reputation to be categorized as a bunch of losers and pushovers to other countries.

Just recently, Dr. Mark McClellan, the administrator of Medicaid and Medicare services, gave the command that under no circumstances should hospital staff be required to ask sick people whether or not they are U.S. citizens. My, don't you wish you had someone like that overseeing that you are provided excellent medical care when you go to the hospital, if you don't have health insurance?

Immigration-control advocates regard the U.S.-born infants as "anchor babies" because they give their undocumented parents and relatives a way to petition for citizenship. They estimate that 360,000 of these babies are born in the U.S. every year and warn that the numbers are rising.

Undocumented immigrants say they are being attacked unfairly and think that all children born in the U.S. should have equal rights.

Socorro Gonzalez, an undocumented immigrant who in August gave birth to her fourth child on U.S. soil, said she and her husband aren't trying to take advantage of immigration laws or abuse the health care system.

''We're not here to have a child. We are here to work," she said as she cradled her infant son, Orlando Soto.

Gonzalez, 42, said she moved to South Texas four years ago to join her husband, a cabinet maker. Two of their older children were born at a private midwife's clinic, she said, and two were delivered at taxpayer expense at hospitals in McAllen.

Gonzalez said the benefits of undocumented immigrants' labor in the U.S. more than compensate for the costs of their medical bills.

On a blistering day in May, US Border Patrol agents in southern California's Imperial County found a man collapsed in the desert. The 39-year-old had successfully sneaked across the border from Mexico, only to succumb to heat stroke. The agents called an ambulance to take him to nearby El Centro Regional Medical Center, where he spent two days in intensive care and several more in recuperation. The agents didn't come back for him, so he left with relatives bound for Los Angeles -- leaving the hospital with his unpaid bill for $26,890.

No one at El Centro Regional was surprised. The public hospital is losing more than $1 million a year treating undocumented immigrants, many of whom were injured trying to cross the border -- people who've broken bones jumping from the 20-foot border fence in Calexico, nearly drowned trying to swim the All-American Canal, or become dehydrated in the Imperial Valley desert.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA

It's so sick it's funny
