Illinois would see the largest tax increase in its history under Gov. Rod Blagojevich's plan to provide health care for the uninsured and ramp up state support for education.
Blagojevich also called Wednesday for leasing the state lottery to a private contractor and borrowing billions of dollars in a bid to solve the state's most pressing financial problem -- pension systems soaking up more and more of Illinois' tax money.
So instead of spending reforms, cuts in non productive programs, economic incentives that might boost tax revenues, Blago is going to increase taxes, drive the state further into debt and murder the economic engines of industry by sticking them with higher costs.
We predict Illinois will be bleeding jobs by the time the next election rolls around and everything will still be screwed up. More coverage at Channel 7 of where the massive tax increases will go - it's Hillary-care on steroids!

I forsee Illinois have an economy similiar to Mississippi or Alabama?

WE will drive more good jobs out-of-state, some out of the country.
As we do this, the Democrats will make us a scantuary state for illegial aliens, and finance them and their health care and education, the Olympics and flowerpots with our increased tax burden.

I am an educated, productive, law abiding Illinois taxpayer who has literally paid several hundreds of thousands of dollars in state income tax in the last deade. My business is not dependent on being in Illinois. If Blago taxes and the gun grabbers get their way then I am out of here. Who's going to pay my share?
Heard on the radio this morning that when Blago took office there was 1 person on welfare for every 9 workers, and that now there are only 6 workers for every person on welfare. Also, 60 percent of the kids on the free health care for kids don't qualify for federal welfare because they are not here legally. Also, just on the news, illinois general assembly just passed a bill allowing Board of Ed teachers to live outside the city.

Just more of the People's Republic of Chicago/Illinois asserting their authority over "We the People". Cook County already been declared a "safe zone" for Illegal aliens. It will now become a destination because of the benefits that Rod the Unreformer will provide them. I blame all the readers of this blog who sat home and didn't VOTE!!! Whether you like to admit it or not, our economy is dependent on immigrant workers. If they are illegal, that’s even better. They take the jobs that Americans are “too good” for. This cheap labor keeps prices low. Yes, our system is taxed by their existence here, but consider it an investment toward a better economy. My taxes support them just like yours but I get it back as a consumer of cheap goods and services. Think about it. How many of you pay top dollar for union contractors. Nope, I’ll get that room done for half the price from Juan. But if you feel better, be a hypocrite
