Local Police Memorial Events

Got a bunch of things coming up, here and elsewhere, to kick off Police Memorial Week.
  • On 02 May in Springfield the night before the Memorial. The Chicago Police Soccer Team are playing the St. Louis Police Soccer Team in a charity match at the University of Illinois at Springfield Kiwanis Stadium to benefit C.O.P.S. Concerns for Police survivors of Illinois. The game features both collegiate and professionally experienced players on both sides which should make for a interesting game. For directions to the stadium and further details please check www.cpdsoccer.com
  • The Run to Remember on 05 May - hop over to their website to see an amusing little video starring the Superintendent - the out takes at the end are humorous as a horse from the Mounted Unit hits the Medical Roll
  • Following the St. Jude March on 06 May, CPD Enforcers vs Philadelphia Blue Flame. Game at Soldier Field, kickoff at 1030 hours. $10.00 admission, all proceeds go to Chicago Police Memorial, Gold Star families, and Mercy Home for Boys and Girls. Make a day of it and stay by the lakefront for the game
Any other events? Post them in the comments section.

is the city hiding the saint jude march from the public this year? This is a slap in the face to all of us. Michigan avenue was a great venue; we can be proud of the uniform and ourselves marching down a great street applauded by on lookers, the gold star families get to rekindle contact with the department and feel proud and supported by the waves of uniformed officers showing respect marching solemnly. The march this year feels like an attempt to hide us from the public

Gee, they let the illegal Mexicans march all over downtown, but the cops get to march down some alley somewhere? I guess lawn care is more important.

We should do what the illegals did, gather at Union Park, and just start marching down washington and head to the memorial from there.

Memorial fund is a slush fund for those in power. that little memorial has been paid for over and over again. connected to the mob LT. A Who was involved with John AKA Quarters got caught taking money from the fund yet that was kept as quiet as possible as he is connected to Phil Cline and Mayor Daleys mob.

We should march on the same path as previous years. Then have a ceremony at gold star memorial park remembring our fallen. This march is to big and too long for this projected march path.

I dunno, maybe the mayor don't want to see a bunch of fat guys walking downtown in uniforms that don't fit anymore. (size 42 coat on a size 48 body) Uniform money spent in Vegas,eh?
