And Speaking of Maintenance

In light of real reporting, we get this:
  • A first-ever analysis of city pothole data by the Chicago Sun-Times found that Uptown’s North Side neighbor, Edgewater, was also chock full of street cavities. However, other communities packed with potholes were scattered all over the city.
Wow, how many millions were wasted on this? And the media treats it like real news in the midst of how many Federal Task Force investigations? It does reveal a few tidbits like this though:
  • But curiously enough, some of the slowest average response times in patching potholes were recorded in clout-heavy neighborhoods like Norwood Park, (15 days) Edison Park (12 days), Clearing (11 days) and Forest Glen (10 days).

These bungalow belt communities are home to thousands of police officers, firefighters, city officials — and probably a few pothole patchers.

So why so sluggish in responding?

Um, because the mayor knows he can take these votes for granted? Because these areas have shown time and again that they'll either elect republicans or actual competent alternative non Machine candidates if presented? What other reason could there be?

Has anyone listened to the incessant commercials airing on the AM dial encouraging us to contact our elected officials to save the CTA?
I called mine and told them not one more penny for subsidized mass transit.

In Garfield ridge, with neighbors like Cline and Risley, we are lucky to get our garbage picked up. Alderfuck Zalewski is a mutt, too worried about getting caught living in Burr Ridge, oops, I hope Dave Hoffman isn't reading this. No secret around the neighborhood anyway. If this was the ghetto, we would have new streets, those nice stainless and aluminum street lights, etc. Fuck the REAL taxpayers as usual.

Why bother with fixing potholes when they can build more speed bumps, flower pots and traffic donuts.

Why do anything like sensor/computer activated traffic signals which would move traffic quicker. Why do we not have, like many suburbs have, emergency vehicle activated traffic signals that would quicken response times and improve our safety. That would save everyone time and fuel, instead we get red-light cameras to feed the Machine.

Why do they not lift the city sales tax on motor fuel?

Instead of helping the motorists, and for that matter the CTA bus passengers with more efficient movement of traffic we get bicycle lanes which choke traffic down to one lane. This wastes time, fuel and produces more pollution. We get bicycle lanes for bicyclists we don't have; and why don't we tax and license bicycles that use these lanes?

True we pay $90.00 for city stickers and if you have a pick up it is now $150.00 where does all that money go? The city clerk rakes in over 100 Million dollars every year where does it go? Daleys pockets like everything else right?

We have so many potholes, because those jagbags that work for Streets and Sanitation dump disel fuel on the road so there are spots for them to fix the following year.

I'm opting for a "pothole" ribbon award. Give me an event # for every pothole I report on my watch. I will do so with great honor protecting the undercarriages of vehicles tht travel this great city. Add that ribbon to my Chicago - "murder capital of the world" pin that I wear proudly.
Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
