And Yet Another Shooting

At least we keep sending them to the hospital, instead of the other way around:
  • Two Chicago Police officers who stopped to buy water at a gas station Friday morning allegedly witnessed a man firing shots at a passing car and eventually had to shoot the suspect, who was not seriously injured.

The officers stopped at the station about 11 a.m., located at East 83rd Street and South Exchange Avenue, to buy water when they heard several rounds being fired, according to police News Affairs Assistant Director Pat Camden.

Once again, excellent job officers.

whoever posted in another thread about golden gate suicides: there is a documentary where they placed cameras all over the bridge and ran them 24/7 for one year. they show everything then look at the subjects' lives, problems and speak with their families. too lazy to look it up but, it does exist.

And Swat had to be called? Anyone???

I (a ret. CPD sgt.) just received a letter via U.S. mail from the Office of the SHAKMAN MONITOR. In the event it may apply to YOU, the text appears in its entirety below:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

July 6, 2007

Dear _____________:

I am writing to you regarding a complaint submitted to our office alleging a possible Shakman violation. As you may know, the City of Chicago and the Shakman plaintiffs have entered into a settlement agreement intended to resolve all Shakman violations alleged to have occurred between January 1, 2000 and May 31, 2007. As part of that settlement, the City of Chicago has agreed to pay a total amount of $12 million dollars.

If you believe you are eligible for monetary relief under the Settlement Agreement, you must submit a Claim Form and Release to this office. Instructions regarding the settlement and the Claims Forms and Releases are available at www.ShakmanMonitor.com. Please be aware that any prior submission to our office, the City of Chicago, or any other entity does NOT constitute a Claim for monetary damages under the Settlement Agreement.

If you have any questions about your potential rights under the Settlement Agreement, you may contact the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic at (773)702-9611.

Very truly yours,

s/Kelly A. Fox

Anyone who was not promoted because merit was promoted ahead of them should make a shakman claim and anyone who had to wait for a later class to be promoted because of merit should make a shakman claim, the city cannot defend its merit selection process because it doesnt have an actual process, I dont think I will get much money but I want to see the city explain how certain people deserved to be promoted on merit ahead of me.

Possibly if you had a better command of the English language and how to express yourself in same you might have been promoted.

Would this also apply to the Fire Dept exam of 10 or so years ago? There are still people on the old list who were qualified, but never called.

NOTHING CHANGES: Watching the 10 o'clock news and as usual the two hypocrits, Mayor Daley and the alledegedly Rev. Jackson, surrounded by Daley's armed valets, bootlicks, coatholders, yes men, and assorted con men make believe revs, demanding that everyone turn in their guns.

Not their guards guns, of course, but your guns.

Yeah right lil Dick, I'll do that right away.
