No Contract=No Tickets
As an old timer, currently retired, and reading various blooging. I never saw a copper starve on this job.
You didn't get lunch! You don't belong on the job if you can't figure a way to grab a bite.
Writing movers and parkers and getting curfews are just part of the job you took. If you can't do that, you don't belong on the job.
What I read on the Blogg is a lot of complaining by just a few ASSSHATS,who should have never gotten the job and would be a failure no matter what job they took.
As for one blogg I read,this ASSHAT complained because he had 8 jobs. This is not piece work,if thats what some of you want, go to work in a factory, punch the time clock.
What the hell difference does it make if your on the A&A sheets or checked in electrontic?
Now, as far as Supervisors, I would like someone to explain to me what a good supervisor is. Sgt.Lt. Capt.etc.?
Complaing is good,sometimes it gets results and sometimes it gets KITA,or a kick in the ass.But the guys, {ASSHATS] who say they are done working are the least likely to support you when the 10-1 comes down.
You only have 8 to do, make the best of it and when you feel really down,pick up the Trib,pick out the employment section, and look at the job offering and the pay. THAT SHOULD MAKE YOUR DAY.

Nice post!! Not sure how long you have been retired but be thankful you are no longer here - it would kill you to see what this department has become. I have 20+ years on and did 15+ years in the private sector. Trust me, I have NEVER been as overworked and stressed on CPD as I was in the private sector. Problem is, most of these "college educated generation X officers" have never worked anything but this job and feel that they are entitled to everything and aren't willing to earn anything and actually work for something.

These retired cops have something you will never have....the feeling of a brotherhood....unity...bonding. They may miss the job...the calls, the action....but the main thing they miss is the fun. Going around with a watch was the beginning of the breakdown of the CPD. Say what you will about today...this job is fun. Always something to make you laugh....you still have to strive for that every day.

I can tell you what the patrolmen think is a good sergeant, lt., capt., etc., speaking as a sergeant..........One who overlooks everything wrong you do, allows you to leave early whenever you want, thinks it is funny to "blow" off a job or to be disrespectful and rude to the citizens. One who will let you do whatever the hell you want to do whenever the hell you want to do it and come to roll call out of uniform, eat during roll call, read a newspaper during roll call. Seems this is what the new patrolmen are looking for.
Now, I will explain what I think is a good supervisor. One who leads by example - don't ask me to do something you wouldn't do. One who is understanding about needing to leave early but won't let the dogs take advantage of their kindness, one who knows how to write paper when I need paper written, one who understands that I might mess up out there, but that I did it with good intentions. We don't have many of these kinds of supervisors around anymore at any level.
