The Inevitable Lawsuits
The slander continues unabated against the police:
- The lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court claims 18-year-old Aaron Harrison did not have a gun or point one at officers before he was shot to death Aug. 6.
- Attorney James Montgomery Jr., who is representing the family, said at least two video cameras near the scene may have captured the incident, which he calls a "summary execution."
And our favorite line of the entire episode so far?
- "If you were black and in the vicinity, you were fair game," said one man.
Piles and piles of dead black men across the west side - all put there by the police, don't you know? What a crock of shit.

Titled "Shooting in Black and White", an Atlantic Monthly article provides some very interesting facts.
"POs are less influenced by a target's race than recent well-covered shootings of unarmed black men might suggest", says the article in the September 2007 issue of the Atlantic (p. 37)
The article describes a research study by Joshua Correll and his colleagues at the University of Chicago. In the experiment, POs and civilians were shown photos of individuals flashing a weapon or an innocuous object such as a cell phone. They had to make a quick decision as to whether or not the situation warranted lethal force.
There were clear signs of bias, says the article.
Both POs and civilians took an extra 10-20 milliseconds to respond when they were shown a photo of an unarmed black man or an armed white man. The POs however ignored race when making a decision when to shot. POs made "shot" decisions for 13% of the unarmed men regardless of race; civilians "shot" 35% of the unarmed black men and nearly 29% of unarmed white.

Anyone caught wearing sagging pants who exposes his or her underwear will be subject to a fine of up to $150 plus court costs, or face up to 15 days in jail.
Mansfield aldermen voted unanimously at today’s 4:30 p.m. meeting to enact the new law.
The law makes it illegal to found in a “state of nudity, or partial nudity, or in any indecent exposure of his or her person or undergarments, or be guilty of any indecent or lewd behavior.”
City attorney Richard Z. Johnson Jr. said he used a similar law in Delcambre as a guideline in creating Mansfield’s ordinance. Several municipalities and parish governments in Louisiana have enacted similar laws in recent months.
SCC, what do you think of this? In the Aaron Harrison case, I say the officers involved should start a counter lawsuit. Why the hell not? They should sue Harrison's family and next of kin stating that because of his unlawful and reckless actions, he caused and forced an officer to take deadly action. This lethal force has resulted in the officers involved to be morally conflicted and has caused them to suffer undue mental anguish and psychological trauma. They are also unable to eat, sleep, or function properly because of all the stress involved in a police shooting. All of this being a direct result of Harrison's illegal and reckless actions. Hey, they may or may not get much, but you never know. Maybe they'll get one of those abused graystone homes that are all over the westside. WTF. I'll donate to the cause.

Two men were wounded, one fatally, in a shooting on the 1600 block of South Lawndale. Willie Thomas, 22, was pronounced dead. The other victim suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

A man and woman were shot on a porch in the 4400 block of North Spaulding. The man, 45, was in serious condition with a wound to the torso. The woman, 26, was grazed in the leg.

Alleged gang member shot
A man was taken into custody after an alleged gang member was shot in the 8200 block of South Houston.

The stabbed body of a 30-year-old woman was discovered in her apartment in the 4400 block of North Lawndale Avenue. Brandy Ford was found on her bedroom floor.

Teen boy shot on way home
A 16-year-old boy was shot in the thigh while walking home with a friend in the 5900 block of South Mozart. The pair were accosted by two offenders -- one on a bicycle -- who shouted gang slogans before firing a shot, police said. The victim was recovering at Holy Cross Hospital.
2. MONDAY | 11:20 P.M. ROSELAND:
Gunman on bike shoots man
A gunman on a bicycle opened fire on a 24-year-old man and shot him in the knee as he walked in the 11100 block of South King Drive, police said. The injured man was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was in good condition.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the buttocks after attempting to run from a gunman in the 6100 block of South Cottage Grove. The victim was walking home when he was approached by someone with a gun. The victim ran and shots were fired. He was listed in good condition at University of Chicago Hospitals. Calumet Area detectives are investigating.

2 shot at dice game
Two people were shot during a dice game in the 5800 block of West Ohio. A 29-year-old was shot in the abdomen and a 16-year-old was shot in the leg. Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.

Man shot in chest
A 22-year-old man was shot in the chest during an argument in the 5600 block of South Paulina. The victim was arguing with multiple people when someone among the group shot him, police said. He was taken to Provident Hospital of Cook County in serious condition.

A 36-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen while attempting to break up a fight between her brother and another person at a backyard party in the 3700 block of West 59th Street, police reported. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition. Wentworth Area detectives were investigating.

Teen killed in gangway
A 19-year-old man was fatally shot in the head in a gangway in the 10600 block of South Indiana, police reported. Aaron Davis, of the 10700 block of South Indiana, was pronounced dead of the gunshot wound in his temple at the Stein Institute at 3 a.m., authorities said. Calumet Area detectives were investigating.
3. SUNDAY | 1:35 A.M. EAST GARFIELD PARK:
Man is critical after shooting
A 24-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting in the 3900 block of West Van Buren. Police said the man was walking down the street when another man approached and shot him in the chest. The victim was in critical condition at Stroger Hospital. Harrison Area detectives were investigating possible gang ties to the shooting, authorities said.

Two men in their 20s were shot near the Museum of Science and Industry. Police were trying to determine whether the pair, who knew each other, may have shot one another. The men, age 22 and 24, were arguing when the shooting started. The 24-year-old was taken to University of Chicago Hospitals with a gunshot wound in his right calf, while the 22-year-old, who had been shot in one of his knees, was taken to Jackson Park Hospital. Neither had life-threatening injuries, police said.

Man shot twice in drive-by
A 31-year-old man was shot twice while standing in the 8000 block of South Laflin. The shots were fired from a car that drove by. The man was listed in stable condition at Christ Hospital on Friday. No other details were available.

I'm the police but I've been pulled over before and I've been stopped on foot before. I was armed but I didn't make any sudden moves, kept my hands where the officers could see them, I didn't run, I didn't fight them, I didn't mouth off to the officers and I communicated to the officers thus everything went smoothly and the officers were just Doing There Job.

I just heard about the little girl in Portage Park who was sexually assualted. I had to check out where that neighborhood is since I'm not familiar with the north side.
The residents are complaining that they have no police protection. We in some aresa of the south side have the same problem and complaint. We like Portage Park are mostly white.
When they gave the discription of the assailant, they said he had a dark complection. They did not say his race. but if he had been white or hispanic they would have said so. Leads me to believe that he was possibly black. Why are the papers so protective when the race of a criminal is black? This is not even PC, it's just stupid.
HERE IS MY SUGGESTION whenever there is a police shooting or other controversial issue which results in a riot.
Immediately start video taping the incident to show how these animals act when they are out there. NO ONE wishes to cooperate with the investigation and the constant phase that is shouted is "FUCK THE POLICE!!"
When the civil suit is brought against the city, just show this tape to the jury.
