Remember back in 2003, President Bush fell off a segway and scraped up his face? The media had a field day with it and journalist Piers Morgan went to town on the President:

Does anybody know how many IOD's, time lost etc. that PO's have suffered due to Segways? I called R&D and thats top secret information. A Supeona would be required for that.
Opppssss- I said Segway can I get an event number for just saying Segway?
I for one will not ride one of those things anymore they are dangerous! Have heard that one guy from 018 has been IOD at least 3 times. Talked to a few segway officers who admit to user error and pedestrians as the cause of there injuries.

The sad epitome of the story is that coppers are disunited and diabolical to each other. Most PO's are ignorant of the achievements of organized labor and only see the propaganized abuses of said.
There are few "Real Police" today and a very few who can relate to this message. The FOP is screwed and is in bed with the company,the PBPA lacks numbers and adherence. To all the new breed,young coppers realize the sacrifices of your elders and build upon them.
SCC, I love your site but demand you affirmatively support CPD labor,not the FOP or PBPA but the concerted efforts of us aginst them.

Just wait until the Segway chases are called after someone runs into a civilian.
Anyone who gets on a segway in the city is crazy, theres no formal traning, no protective gear, these things are very dangerous.Go ask the guys in 1 how bad they are, there has been some major accidents with life long effects but the city doesnt care, they wont tell you about how many serious accidens there has been.
What about the PO in 018 who went flying off the Segway at Navy Pier. They were still finding his teeth a day later.
You would have thought that the city or department would have done something for that guy in 001. He was out IOD for about a year from what Ive heard. The girl from 018 who cant lift her arm past her waist is suppose to be Finance.
Also conspicuous by their disappearence is the CFD Segways used by the paramedics.
I imagine a whole unit could be created by just taking all those who have been majorly hurt on those things.
Can those who are forced to get those segway event numbers file a grevience(sp) or law suit for needless being put in danger of injury to themselves or a citizen by the City of Chicago/Police Department?

Hmmm lets try and remember when we started with those segways. Yes, it was shortly after EMMD was taken over by the department of fleet management. I believe this was Mike Picardi and Glenn Tataras first attempt at putting their mark on the police dept. Another failure, just like the Tahoe and Impala experiment. We can hardly wait for their biggest and most expensive failure, the urban police patrol vehicle. We sure hope that they can find someone to manufacture it for them. Picardi and Tatara, what a couple of jagoffs!!!!!!

I was at Midway the other day the girl on the segway was zipping around no helmet alomsot hit 2 people, she was very ignorant and never even said excuse me or anything! Guess another clout kid can do whatever they want and nothing ever happens! Then I also observed a SGT driving a Segway safely with helmet on, and being careful and courteous to people guess different for supervisors, maybe he should tell her to wear a helmet! But then again maybe she has so much clout and no time on the job?
Who cares about the CPD injuries on segways. How many injuries have been caused by POs driving cars, bicycles, atv's, horses or any other form of transportation we use? Should we take those away also? Maybe we shouldn't have foot guys anymore, God forbid they trip on a crack in the sidewalk and fall. Sometimes the posts I read on here make me think that we have a bunch of cry baby bitches on this job!
