Love That City Contracting
- Potentially dangerous pavement blowouts that began occurring on Midway Airport's busiest runway shortly after repairs four months ago are prompting Chicago officials to redo all of the work as a safety precaution.
- Some 129 epoxy-based patches that were installed on Runway 31 Center in April will be replaced during an intensive 56-hour reconstruction operation next week, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation.
- An airport consultant working at Midway is investigating what caused some of the 129 pavement patches to fail, but officials are focusing on problems that occurred during the work in April, performed by Rossi Contractors of Northlake under a an approximately $60,000 contract.
And from our comments section:
- Here's what you won't find in the article. The reason why Rossi's inspection cleared was because the company that does the inspections at MDW is owned by Ron Rossi's brother. Also, the consulting company that advised Rossi what they needed is Spaan Tech whose CEO is John Kosiba who tesified in the Sorich trial how he participated in hiring fraud. What a great guy to be advising on runways!! And the owner of Spann Tech in Smita Shah who hosted MAYOR DALEY'S Indo-Americian pac fundraiser in February, think anything will happen here?
Where's the Media Now?
Can anyone confirm or deny? It'd be interesting if the readers of SCC blog had better insight into city contracting practices than the media did.

Had the pleasure to be at DeLaSalle HS across from HQ several years ago. The alumni association had a brick program that bore the names of the "WHO"S WHO" in chicago politics and city contractors. Most memorable was Duff from "Windy City Maintenance" they use to handle cleaning at Navy Pier and McCormick Place. Then the media found out about Windy city wasnt a minority contractor.
So you can see that cronie'ism has run rampant, and that ethics and transparency in our city goverment doesnt exist. But as long you take the mandatory ethics test on-line it gives the aire of the city taking a hard nose stand on city employees being ethical.
why can't a reporter get approval to run with this story ?
gov't corruption allways sells......what's going on here?
i think we all know.
here is a better question......why is the G not getting more of daley's men????
1811 guy, what say you?
yeah, i think we all know again.
Not sure on how this sham contract worked! Like many they have to cut corners to payoff whoever in the daley criminal conspiracy got them the contract! Look at 35 street, the doors in the winter will not close properly letting cold air blow in, when it rains the janitors have to squeegee water from the rear if not it will flood the 1st floor, the floors are tilted, the plumbing is total shit! Again the daley has to fill his pockets with graft!

Spaan tech is on board with the CTA too. No wonder CTA is having trouble. And, didn't Kosiba used to be a boss at Aviation? Wasn't he fired from there>?
The best is that there is a construction manager named Laura Aye who over seas these projects.
For those of you who don't know she is the former Chicago Police officer who decided to get a CR put on here in regards to a bulls jacket that mysteriously disappeared and reappeared in her personal vehicle. Well looks like she went bye bye
She was working at midway as a aviation security officer until she made the right connections to land a job in operations
After the suntimes uncovered the trucking scandal the crooks had to come up with different ways to line the pockets of their political cronies.
Truck leasing?
Did anyone see any of the new freshly bought Ford explorer sportrac pickups ward superintendents vehicles. Tan cloth interiors
Wait and see how screwed up these are going to be in a month
It is the chicago way it doesnt matter if your qualified or know what your doing as long as you fit a certain demographic or know the right people . skills dont matter hey if people die at the airport who cares we took care of our guys. Dont think the police dept isnt like this we have a guy with a GED who cant get the proper clearences and has baby mommas all over the police dept(at least 3) in charge because he fits a desired demogrphic.

How about Rosie andolino really rosie fary, who worked for victor reyes daleys former intergovernmental chief! She was reyes girl who took his cleaning, and now she kept her mouth shut and is now "project director" for the O'Hare expansion project making 200K a year plus car and driver! Cannot wait until under her leadership (daleys), how many corners will be cut? How much will daleys cabal steal?
Come on guys! This city is doing the best job possible for us. I know that for a fact I even have proof! I got a piece of paper that says how much over and above my salary it cost to keep me employeed!
OK after typing that Im gonna go an vomit.
Let's hire the most inexperienced but connected to get contracts! Guess even with the feds breathing down daley and friends necks they are like the illegal idiot hiding in that church that finally was deported! The daley and friends motto is "catch me if you can" same as the illegal mexican now will they finally indict daley and crew?
Can there possibly be a more corrupt city in the entire US?
Barak Hussein Barry Obama, a dues paying member of the Cook County Democratic Organization, wants to bring Chicago style government to Washington. God help us!
I love how you can sign yourself up as a minority contractor, the city hires you, then you hire the white contractor and charge the city 4 times as much. And you don't have to have any knowledge of the job you were hired for. Like most, you can work out of your basement. Keep voting in those incumbents. Budget crisis my ass.
