- CNN called Mike yesterday and barring any other natural disaster they are going to air Mike's story on CNN Monday night at 9PM.
This is the story that got canceled because of the Gulf hurricane. This could be the national exposure Mike needs to give this story some legs. Watch tonight and continue the phone and letter campaign.
UPDATE: Once again, CNN screwed the pooch. Bob Mette sends his apologies and will attempt to keep us updated as to an actual air date. We certainly hope CNN isn't yanking everyone's chain.

Cop riding Segway runs down shooting suspect
Chicago Police Officer Thaddeus Martyka was riding his Segway Human Transporter looking for parking violations when he heard the shot ring out.
Martyka, traveling north on State Street on Sunday, saw two young men sprint west on 21st Street -- and the chase was on.
The Segway, a scooter that looks like an old-fashioned push lawn mower with big rubber wheels, hit its top speed of 12.5 mph.
One suspect broke away on Wabash, but Martyka kept tailing the other man until he tired out on the sidewalk.
Martyka set down the Segway and handcuffed the man about 4:27 p.m. at 23rd and State. He radioed fellow officers to pick up a .25-caliber pistol the man allegedly tossed in an alley during the chase.

Moral of the story as the order reads..."Any supervisor can call off a vehicle persuit" and God forbid something like this happens...good luck in your new job.

Good old 3rd/4th/5th and 6th with some in the north/east end of 22nd districts are kicking ass in shootings and homicides!

Fran was chasing a car for traffic. was called off at LEAST 3 times. but she kept chasing. wrong way on LSD and so on causing crashes and what not. Sgt even got on the air and asked if he was speaking english. It was funny.

I am so sick of the black community perceiving everything that happens to them as racist or unjust, instead of just taking personal responsibility.
Example:
A male black subject, 24, 6'5 320 lbs is asked to leave a nightclub in Carbondale,IL.,home of S.I.U., because he was creating a disturbance.
Of course, he refuses. It's only after Police arrive on-scene and he is identified by the business manager as the offender does he attempt to leave..Problem is..he is asked by police not to move, and to stay put. He attempts to run away across the parking lot and than fights with the police. As a result he gets "the wood shampoo" and is tasered.
He goes to the hospital,than to jail.
(In a mini version of what happens in Chicago on the west-side..)a "stop the police brutality" march and protest ensues.
Some goof is quoted in the Daily Egyptian paper, in what sounds like a hip-hop rap lyric, sputtering some (non-sense) about "It's about respect, it's a respect thing!"
Then they take a page from the Jesse Jackson playbook and march around campus, shouting slogans and "nursery-rhymes", while defending the offenders actions and criticizing the actions of the police.
It's always the same, never ending shit from T-H-E-S-E people!

Better double check she cannot ignore a termination order....even if another car terminates their assist in the chase, that terminates the whole thing....but then again you probably got the question right on the test and got screwed over right???

A Labor Day crash on an expressway southwest of Chicago killed a teenage girl and an adult man, and injured 12 others -- all temporary workers on their way home from a job.
The victims were occupants of a van that flipped over after the driver lost control. The Illinois State Police closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 55, also known as the Stevenson Expressway, for three hours Monday afternoon, diverting traffic to a state highway.
The victims, all employees of a temporary labor agency, had been working at a golf course in suburban Lemont, said ISP Trooper Delila Huerta. Some were undocumented workers and the male who died was from Mexico, Huerta said.
U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officials arrested four of the survivors, including the driver, 27-year-old Jarina Salgado, Huerta said.
The van was heading north when it started shaking, veered across one lane of traffic, struck the guardrail and flipped. No other vehicles were involved, authorities said.
The victims were not wearing seat belts and reported that the van's seat belts weren't working. The van, which was borrowed from an acquaintance, may have malfunctioned, Huerta said.
The state police did not identify the deceased victims because the girl was a minor and the man's relatives had not been notified. The mother of the girl, who was 17, was a passenger in the van, Huerta said. The man who died was in his 20s. The identification card he carried did not include a date of birth, she said.
The crash occurred near County Line Road near southwest suburban Burr Ridge.

Actually, the order reads that any MEMBER can terminate a pursuit. YES, a PATROLMAN could terminate it. And trust me, if the patrolman was able to justify the dangers that let to the termination, he/she would be backed up all the way...even to screw a supervisor.

It was Cline, not Hillard, that sold Vandermay down the river over the bullshit at Cabrini. Hillard sat on that thing waiting for it to go away. One of Cline's first acts was to have that kid stripped, fired, & charged. A real stand-up guy. Hey, the store front ministers and race pimps demanded rejustifications and righteousnesses. Most of us who are owners of these vans realize you have to be aware of the limitations regarding speed,load etc. I never loan mine out unless the driver has some prior truck driving experience.

Even if what this poster says did occur (03 Sep, 6:29pm), some goofball took a whipping and got locked up, and even if some of the college students protested, THAT IS THEIR RIGHT. I'm sure not ALL of the black students up at the university were involved in the protest. I'm sure that not all of the black students even attended the event; I'm even willing to bet that some WHITE students attended.
Rap music is not listened to by blacks only. Check the sales of the music, lots of people around the world tune in (We can all ask why, but they do!!). Please some show some real consistency here.
When the goofs act up on Division and Rush streets, does anyone ever post here that this is what is expected of T-H-O-S-E P-E-O-P-L-E?
Or the outrageous St. Paddy's day celebrations, northside or Southside? Or the Gay pride parade? I didn't think so.
Consistency. Think about it.
Is it any wonder black residents are fearful of white officers? All one would have to do is scroll up this website to see that some of our brethren have some serious issues when it comes to race. Allowing them to post some of the blatant ugliness here does our profession no good at all, and plays into the fears many nonwhites have about law enforcement and Chicago in general.
And you wonder why JJ and AS don't go away, while we provide wood for their fires? The CULTURE of this Dept. has to change, ("go out and bring in some guns and some heads;
I won't ask you how, and you won't have to tell me"...look at what that has done to SOS, and morale in general, as it continues to grow) and it is going to, like it or not.
