Amazing. They're actually found guilty.
- Monday's stunning guilty verdicts lowered the boom on the Chicago Outfit. But as CBS 2's John Bulldog Drummond explains for four of the defendants, the nightmare is just beginning.
Uncle Sam hasn't tolled a ten-count over the mob yet, but the Chicago Outfit is on the floor after all five defendants were found guilty.
A federal jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict Monday in the mob trial of five men on charges involving decades of extortion, gambling, loan sharking and 18 long-unsolved murders.
Drummond's been covering this long enough that he probably had to wonder if he'd ever live to see an actual conviction. Now he's seen five. Tribune and Sun Times coverage at the links.

The mob is dead nationwide. Just a handful of old paisans in social clubs waiting for these indictments to come down hoping they don't die in prison.

You will never illimainte oeranized crime. These guys are gone but will be replaced by more violent organizations, Gangs Jamacians and Russian mob all very violent and focusing on Chicago
I'd be way more impressed if the G took on the GDs but thats too mush to hope for. The FBI only goes after HEADLINE grabbing cases.

Out of the 5, only 3 were halfassed noteworthy. Lombardo has been almost disconnected since he got out in the mid 90's, Marcello just got out of jail, and Frank Calabrese was still in jail. All these dudes were in Milan Mi. at the same time. Co-incidence? There are so many more unanswered questions. The Outfit still thrives in this town. Where there's money to be made, they're there. $20 million a year, Cook County, easy......

Agree with you 100% Hey Leo come on give us some tac guys here! I know it is all about protecting the aldermans home, but it would be nice for you to man up and show the balls, you know the muscles you had at the gym! Thanks a lot! I talked to alderman zalewski the other day he told me you were going to "take care of our area", that means not just to have lunch!

You talking about laskis book where he will name names? Maybe it will be with co author robert cooley?
Why is daley our of town agin and out of the country? Probably more indictments this week after all everytime this happens he leaves town! when will they get daley? He makes the old boss John Gotti look like a grade school kid before he died!
In NYC the District Attorney's Office is constantly indicting and trying Ogranized Crime scum.
But in Chicago the Outfit and the Daley Crime family (Democrat party) are so intertwined, Devine deosn't do a damn thing. He should be ashamed.
