Seems they didn't get disbanded....oh, wait. That one is true. On the other hand:
- 100, 172, or 88 people all went to TRU. No one went to TRU except anyone whose detail was canceled. TRU is being authorized a 5th platoon (80 officers) and is currently accepting applications.
We're getting e-mail and a comment or two about how no supervisors were dumped though. One has to wonder how far up the ladder responsibility and blame will be affixed if no one in power gets the hook. Seems like the same old story, same old song and dance.

I say do what some of the other larger cities are doing. Merge all police department within Cook County and make it one police department.

and this surprises people why? The term, "supervisor" is best used subjectively when you have the clout babies. These people think nothing of stabbing officers and fellow supervisors in the back. In this department,as we all know,you have supervisors,who back you up,help with the paper, and are committed to getting you home safe. Still again as we all know,there are people who wear the surpervisory uniform,who wait to be called,have no clue how to write a report,let alone help with one,and you'll never see them backing up the troops. If they do arrive on a scene,it's only after peace has been restored.
Then you have those people,who wear a supervisor's uniform, who work inside doing absolutely nothing. I've seen it. All clout babies,useless blobs. But they say at family parties and functions,that they're the police. Put in an inside job,to ride out the years and receive their pensions,then they'll retire and brag to everyone how they were the police.
What a disgrace to real supervisors and the men and women who guard the lambs from the wolves.
Even worse news.... FBI today will be reporting that during the search warrant on Jerry Finnegan's residence, they found the stolen Noah's Ark in his garage and along side the holy arc was Natalie Holloway's body. Just keeps getting worse!
Word is the feds are still trying to confirm Jerry's Alkida and Osama bin Laden connection.
How about the article in the Sun-Times saying that Eugene Williams is actively recruiting all the Reverends to put pressure on the mayor to name him Superintendent?

I had an ex SOS guy asking me questions about other officers, starting times, ending times. He even went as far as to tell me some "stories" to loosen me up! An old tactic. Be very careful.
Most of the prisons would be empty if bad guys didn't tell on themselves.
IAD is filling spots with SGT and DET. Some I know, who did some shaddy stuff. Makes you wonder what the qulifications are to get in IAD.

Don't know where to put this but it relates to us and our contract talks. Daley wants to raise taxes on everything under the sun which will effectively reduce any raise awarded after talks are completed. If everyone that visits this site sends each of the alderpersons and the mayor a tea bag they will get the message. These taxes will not only impact us but also the civilians that visit this site and the services that we all enjoy. Us and the rest of the population in and around Chicago should not be fooled by Daley's doomsday prediction of the city not moving forward and out of fear going along with the tax hike. There are a lot of places that the budget can be cut. Daley refuses to tighten the belt by cutting back or eliminating programs. We the tax payers are not a cash cow for Daley. Send the alderpersons and the mayor a tea bag. A silent but most effective protest.

(2) sgts went to the detail unit, while (1) was dumped to 6. (1) other sgt went back to 15 by choice to take over a tact team. No other supervisors were dumped. Rumor is more are going to be dumped because there are not enough PO's left for them to supervise. There's no need for all the bosses. Maybe they'll be new TRU Sgts?

Which is the way it should be. There will always be a need for a group of tough P.O.'s to go city wide and fuck with the gangsta and thug of chicago. But TRU will not be the new SOS. Give it some time some unit will either bulk up or pop up somewhere. As long as they aren't a bunch of theives who cares. We all see the steady increase of disrespect given by the white t-shirts. The line of fear or respect is getting further and further away for us out here. The city is letting it go and we are the ones who suffer. Something needs to change.
Let me tell you kids out there that SOS of today is/was NOTHING like it used to be...I worked there when it was SOG and then went to SOS...EVERYONE there kicked ass and worked...you didn't have what you had today going on...no way! The old timers worked, the young kids worked, the females worked etc, etc, etc...I remember two guys (retired now) Jerry Droba and Golan...forget first name...these guys went out every day and got a hot car just about every day...they were not youngsters either....they were 15 yr+ veterans and they were the kings of hot cars!! Then you had guys like Carl Stoll and his partner...the man literally lived in court!!! He was an excellent officer and would lock up his grandmother for selling dope!! Then you had Mike Granata who was a good copper but never went to court...but was funny as hell!!! could drive like a motherF*&^&%r!!
We had the illustrious Harold Bone....he is a legend ...nuff said!! He would be the only copper that could see a runner before you made the turn to hit the spot you were going to!!! Hilarious!! Man, we had a lot of heavy hitters...some awsome police officers with years of experience and hard working reputations!! We didn't have scandals...we didn't have what you kids have today...we were a very disciplined bunch that went out every day to lock up as many people as we could and then get some more!! Hell even Russel Madia locked up an a&&hole every day!! The unit was a really great place to work....everyone was the working police and that aint no lie.The only guys that I remember not being hard working police are Steve Georgas and his partner Chris Kennedy...Chris was a nice guy but Steve was a smartass jagoff they did not have work on their agenda...they would come and do their homework , eat lunch and go home....but I guess that pays off...look where they are now...figures. Sorry to see that SOS turned into what it was...I blame that directly on Matt Tobias who FU&^%D it up big time when he took over and ran Fred and the Baran out...here's a guy who was a patrolman in the unit and would have his head surgically attached to Fred's ass...and then fuc&^d him over when he became commander...what a jag! He was responsible for ruining that unit...he brought back his pals who had gotten promoted and the place went to hell...I've said it before and I'll say it again...when Fred and the Baran were there...like them or not...you didn't have this shit going on...well..thanks for the memories...lot of great ones and lot of great coppers from my era!! Sorry to see you kids get FU&^%D over and sorry to see what the unit turned into...was a historical place with historical police officers...long live SOG/SOS

They would not also have immunity with the FEDS depending if the FEDS were gonna charge them or just use them to support their case against JF and the boys..presumably there would be some professional courtesy inacted by the FEDS towards the ASA's office on who they gave immunity to already...

Since Crook County Judicial system doesn't work and most of the judges suck and nobody gets jail time, how about raising money for the Police Department by pushing Assest Forfeiture involvement. Let more percentage of money seized, property seized or vehicles impounded go towards funding the Chicago Police Department. Same goes for the revenue raised from parking and movers. Daley will probably come up with more lies and excuses as usual as to why he won't pay the police what they deserve let alone paying the police on time without a 2-3 year wait for a contract.

It isn't a matter of being a cry baby, but when shit hits the fan, again it is the beat officers that handle it. I don't see TACT/GANGS coming in with anything any better than the beat cars do. It used to be they were coming in with guns, large amounts of dope, etc. THEN they deserved the early cuts. But now, they are no different than beat officers - oh except they dont do half the amount of work and aren't stuck with 30 minutes lunches. They are considered "special" because what??? They wear plain clothes? Bullshit TF SOG and the early SOS have always been home to hard working coppers. There were also phone calls in the unit but thats every where. You cant have all phone calls and no workers. Task Force came from an all male CPD. The TF patch for some stood for Tough fuckers. Hands down the the best unit of all time when it comes to being what this job is no more the ass kicking lock them up police. With every new name it's fair to say the groups have been forced to watter down little by little due to the times and bosses. However from TF to SOS that style of a group has always been around. If you knew the history of this dept. you wouldn't think it was just me stroking myself you waste. But hey i'm sure your right they just made TF renamed it, renamed it, renamed it, and renamed it so all those "POLITICAL CRONIES WHO COULDN'T FIND DOPE IN THE CRIME LAB" could sit around and make up stories. Nice respect for those 60's 70's 80's and most of the 90's police men who gave this job its name. You sound like the bag of shit who never had any of the tools required to make those units no matter what the decade you fell into......well maybe you have a phone call those can be had and wasted by any hand job wlaking this city.

Came on the job in 89 and went there in 91. Hey asshole that is exactly the problem with that fucked up unit. Two years on the job you didn't even know what paperwork was yet. I suppose you got there because in your whole two years on the job you were such a great copper that you didn't need a phone call to get there. Should be mandatory 5 years in the district to go anywhere and 10 years in a blue shirt to make Sgt. Now that would end alot of the problems. And by the way tough guy I have more time on this job and I actually worked in west side districts longer than you were "elite". Assholes like you never knew what it was to work a watch and rotate and trust me tough guy you were never fucking "elite".

Agreed that anyone would even say anything negative of Golan and Droba. Two great guys. I rode with them as a third in the car a few times and what they did was just "play" the HOT SHEET. Just ask them, they had me doing it in the car with them.
Before the PDT's or even when they didn't work they would just use the reverse side of the BULLETIN which was the HOT SHEET. Like a numbers game in the ghetto because generally that's where SOS was and that's were HOT CARS turn up more times than not. Why run everything over the AIR when you can briefly check it HOT SHEET.
We got one on one of the days I rode with 'em and had a foot chase and they were on foot and in their car after DUDE, unlike many old timers I worked with to date. Golan and Droba they had BALLS. They were cool with me I was a Northsider and they were Southsiders that shit didn't matter to them. Gerry thanks for the stock info and mutual fund info. you probably don't even remember but I do!
The Baran was probably the best boss I ever worked for and still to this day never heard a single word he said at roll call!
One good thing about Jimmy Darling besides his US ATTORNEYS movie, and him volunteering us all for a year or more to cover the disbanded housing projects police duties was the photo shoot he set up for us all at MEIGS Field I still got the picture of my team and will remember each guy and the time I spent there and friendships made.
As for PRENDKOWSKI (SR.) The angriest man one will ever know! His famous quote " Hey JAGOFF!" as he tries to give you an important message! I would have had sexier secretaries answering the phones if I were boss but it was a Southside thing! And they think the Northside is GAY!
Then there was Ms Ewilda King....I don't ever want to hear a timekeeper bitch about anything!
