The Second Half
Do they suck too badly to make any headway in the second half of the season? Can they win 7 of the next 8 to even have a shot at the playoffs? Does anyone really care?
Hey! We heard the Blackhawks are on free TV today. And they actually have a winning record for the first time in a decade or so (9-7-0). And they're playing Detroit, who they've already beaten twice this year - which hasn't happened in like 90 years or something.

I'm sorry to be off topic here, but I'm watching "Colors" satellite, the 1988 masterpiece starring Robert Duvall and a pre-pussified Sean Penn, and I'll be damned if that "community meeting" scene ( CAPS anyone? ) doesn't still hold true today, just about 20 years later!!!!!

off topic---how about the sheets in 008 3rd watch this weekend. no rapids except for 858/859 which are mandated to be up. no traffic cars. 2-3 beat cars down. no ford city car. no 06/incident cars. at least 2-4 cars down on ford city jobs/arrests all nite. nah, we're not shorthanded in 008

CHICAGO (STNG) ― An 18-year-old woman was shot when a fight at Buddy Guy's Legends nightclub on the Near South Side spilled onto the street early Sunday.
The incident happened about 1:45 a.m. at the club, 2109 S. Wabash Ave., according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.
A fight at the club spilled out onto the street, shots rang out and the 18-year-old woman was shot in the thigh, Greer said. The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition, Greer said. It was not known if the woman was part of the fight or if she was just a bystander, Greer said.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.

The size of 008 is the biggest problem these days, due to it's increase in crime, most of their problems come from the influx of hispanic gangs, transplants from 012, 010, and the south and east end's black gangs moving west from 007, 002 and the demise of public housing. The district's calls for service are thru the roof. The district needs to be split in two, a move that is supposedly in the works; it can't come soon enough.

Off Topic--- Heard Mope-rah on the radio this morning. The attorney for the tasered grandma was a guest. The attorney said that the POs violated her 4th amendment rights,and were trespassing among other things. The hosts,attorney ,and grandaughter said the police should have left when the grandma said she was O K. The only thing they said that I agreed with is that the police should not be doing well-being checks,that should be done by Human services.

Well, I know one Bt. car that supevisors should be checking on.
That's the one on any given watch that hangs around at 58th & Central at the Signature Company at the airport. I hear they give out free coffee.
Any time, day or night there is ALWAYS a beat car from 008 there.
How about instead of sucking down coffee and hanging around the airport, you guys earn your pay and patrol 812 or 811?

To the poster who said the "check the well being" should be left up to social services, I couldn't agree more.
However, what is never reported is THAT it was social services that called CPD after they initiated contact and saw the deranged women swinging the object from a window. Cpd arrived and a SGT made the decision to make entry.
Eitherway, CPD will be portrayed negitively and always come out on the bottom of any issue.
If they coded it and left, it would be reported that they failed to provide service because they are (add your favorite excuse here) lazy, racist, corrupt,blah,blah,blah!

Mags is way too large (fat) and unhealthy to get. Although he tries his best at being a 19th Ward member - in the end, would you want him to represent you? I worked for him - GREAT boss, it is just that he looks like Chingis Khan.
Engstrom is just a LT, heavy as whale shite, friends of Ginger, but she will not get it. She will get promoted to CPT and take over for as the 3rd W/C. She will bid her time in this spot until something moves along the way. She fills the need as a "minority", a white, female WC. So when they move the current WC he has nothing to beef on.
That leaves it down to two. Carroll might be a great boss, but you can bet your last dollar that Ruthie Wedster will get it. She is a minority, again, a female, although 22 is the one spot in Area 2 where you can have a white boss; but putting in a female quiets down any critics. She also did her time at the FBI training - and in the last 5 years anyone who has gone on to VA, has gone up the ranks.
Wedster has been up gingers ass since the election. Trust me, smart money is on brown nose wedster.
