Big Oops

  • A judge has granted a man convicted of armed robbery a new trial because the jury that found him guilty in October also found a wad of cash in his coat during the trial that police and prosecutors overlooked.

A money roll totaling $1,300, a rubber glove and a bandage apparently went unnoticed by police, prosecutors and the defense until jurors detected them while examining the garment during deliberations in October.

We would have though that a jury finding evidence that tied the defendant's coat to the crime would be looked upon favorably by the jury in voting for conviction. But it seems the judge told the jury to disregard the evidence found and then, when the jury convicted the defendant on 13 of the 28 charges (acquitting him outright on the other 15 charges!), the judge granted a new trial anyway.

Lawyers for the defense are expected to argue for suppression of the evidence on the grounds that (A) no chain of custody can be proven and (B) it makes their case so damn hard to present with a straight face.

Off topic but enjoy the calm before the shit storm. Rumor has it that there are numerous exempts ready, and willing to exit stage left. The new boss will be short a number of high ranking bosses within a week after taking over. There are a number of exempts that have their time and rank so this is a no brainer for them.

We will be entering a new era and we can thank our asshole Mayor for all that is about to occur.

If I was the foreman of that jury, it would have been a C note apiece for each juror and the deputy.

Such wonderful and convenient math.

Good!!! We have way to many of them now. One supt., one first dep., 6 dep. chiefs(one for each area and one for all spec. units), and a captain to run each district. No need for 20 dep. chiefs, any district commanders, however may ADS's. Holy poop, I just saved the dept. over 3 million bucks a year in salaries, take home cars, etc...

SCC you are an ass!

Is this a post against the judge or the officers who did the search?

Wouldn't it be nice if instead of proceeds, it was a gun in his jacket pocket? That way an armed offender facing years and years in prison could sit in an interview room and watch police officers stroll by totally clueless that this guy was armed.

DO YOUR GODDAMN SEARCHES YOU LAZY MOTHERF$KER$!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah! One more fact your SCC desk-riding-ass should be aware of before some boss puts you on the street next New Years:

Shoddy police work = bad guy go free. And that suprises you?

One more black eye for all of us.

Am I the only one seeing this?

FBI? AKA The Black Hole, or the He Man Police Haters Club.

We are and always will be Fucking Locals to him. He was brought in solely to go to war with the CPD rank and file. Guaranteed he sees corruption behind every blue shirt, and every working white shirt too. He will be much less concerned with merit promotions...which he will support due to the Feeb's continuing leadership role in the "civil rights" (lol) movement, than he will be with firing people for early ducks and comp slips not making it out of the office, headhunting those with CR's, and vigorously investigating any civil rights nonsense allegations.

I hate to be a buzz-kill, but open up your eyes. This one is not our friend. Da stuttering one didn't bring him in to clean up clout, that's his powerbase. He brought him in to punish the PD for causing him public grief.
