Last Year's Predictions
Here's the link to last year's feeble attempt at predicting the future. Some of our highlights?
- Politics - Local - Routine indictments? Yes. Massive County indictments? No
- Politics - State - Ryan retrial? Not yet. Blago scandals? Yup, and still coming.
- Sports - got a few, missed a few
- Department - We called Maher for Supe and were wrong. We guessed Starks leaving for the second year in a row and were wrong. We called the renaming of SOS right on, but didn't see the feds taking over the investigation. Did we nail it concerning Noelle Brennan or what?
We did as well as Dixon used to do, which is to say, damn poorly.

Are these "bosses" really convinced it is their new found intelect that is the reason for a drop in crime?
A bit off topic, but I gotta say something... I got stuck working in Cabrini on New Years eve. I was put in a lobby and told to stand there and "lock down the building". We were handed an antiquated list of residents for Cabrini circa 1999 that did not even include the building in which I was standing. After asking a few passerbys if they lived there, I realized my efforts were a COMPLETE waste of time. Cabrini is a shadow of its past, yet the "bosses" feel it is necessary to continue to flood these bullshit, non project projects with wasted manpower.
The 1st watch dispatcher from Zone 4 is a COMPLETE spaz and was making 10-1 Dave sound cool, calm, and collected. I mean she was reading off assault jobs as if it were the second coming of Jesus Christ!
I could count the number of shots fired on one hand, and the residents were pleasant and upbeat (except the guy who took some bad dope and wanted a ride to mommas house 4 blocks away--when we declined the offer he gave us the finger, busted out the good old race card and stumbled away, nearly getting plowed by a fire truck).
Albeit a majority of the calls coming out were bullshit, they still were there. If the "bosses" want to do it right, maybe use the extra manpower to help out around the districts, not standing in some burnt out breezeway watching rats climb walls and boning up on gang scribe from 20 years ago.
Times change, and the problem with this department is it is constantly 10-20 years behind the times.
The time was passed by some Ricky Gervais entertainment and a pizza pie the good Sgt was kind enough to pass our way. But Im certain at the end of the night, Georges, Car 47 and the rest of the brain trust gave themselves a huge pat on the back, breathed a sigh of relief, and figured they got it right again... Truth of the matter is, alot of taxpayers dollars and able bodied man hours were wasted on solving a problem that doesnt exist! This happens all the time in every part of the city in every facet of CPD day to day operations!
Hopefully the new guy will see this and the all too often self imposed pats on the back will carry with them early retirements... Only then will the CPD move into the 21st century!
Not an Original Thought among any of the Bosses. That ( and clout) is how you become a Boss. Any good ideas usually come from a P.O. or maybe a Sgt. and is immediately stolen by an Exempt to garner credit with another clown.
I have seen this countless times.
old and retired.
Mak enough guesses, some are bound to hit.
how about who will win the FOP march 2008 election
LOck down cabrini! WTF! Send a tiger in there it would keep all the other animals at bay! There is nothing left except for a few ghetto rats waste of manpower by the idiot georges as usual! hope Jody dumps him forst such a waste of a command spot!
I predict that the FBI wont have any better luck in finding me, than they had in the 70s.
With idiots like the "Working Fed/coldtype(same JO)" that posts on this site, I'd bet my life on it!
All that housing money wasted on Cabrini.
No one cares about the Ickes, Dearborns, or the Altgelds.
That's most likely because none of our liberal citizenry have the balls to traverse there.
be they won't release nor the liberal media ask for the amount of crimes committed in Chicago in 2007 involving an illegal immigrant. COVER-UP......
Many of our bosses are like Assholes, Everybody's got one.

Something is definitely wrong wiht the zone 4 dispatchers! We were there too and it sounded like WW III out there!
Sobcheck had us walking the floors checking to see if they still smelled like piss as they sat in Georges office watching us at the buildings from the PODS! Waste of time?
There is nobody left in those places and if 018 command thinks that this is a busy place they are goofed. All the projects are old news all through the city they have scattered folks here and there but its not congested with B.S like they used to be.
We may have been better off being mobile and going to the "Bar fights that the 6300 team was callin out like 10-1's everywhere. Guys its ok to be the police and break up a fight yourself or at least try before screaming like a bitch over the air on a shit miserable driving night and call fo more cars. Only to seconds later call it all off and say disregard.
Our whole team was laughing at you guys whoever you are!
It seem like the 018 folks feel they put in a "hard working" days work hustling off the B.S calls or something the way the zone sounds. Stay off the air until you really need it and don't embarrass yourselves.
A/3 = soft, so have fun and look at the girls or guys whatever you like and don't STRESS you got it easy!
the end of cabrini was cemented when dantrell davis was shot in the head on his way to school in front of 502 oak. almost 20 years ago but it was a turning point. i predict that we will have 12 days of medical time per year in the near future. as usual the habitual medical abusers screwed it up for everyone else. i hope that this new guy jp does away with the seat belt missions. tired of being a pimp for the city and sandbagging people with this bs.

Sounds like you just did the proverbial "get a few tickets and your done" routine, instead of looking for cars with thugs without seatbelts and stopping them and trying to get guns etc. which is the purpose of the missions, not getting tickets...
What a cool and successful 018 District New Years Rockin' Eve Combo:
Micro-managing fun with Kommandant Georgas, Car 47, and Leftenant Fahey Flynn; 10,000 TACT units from every corner of the city wasting their time babysitting Cabrini; Calm and clear "I have nothing further" Irene dispatching her sweet little heart out on Zone 4 radio; Inner-city ghetto mayhem with the Afro-American crowd at Dave and Buster's; College-educated white folk from Linkin' Park and da burbs putting the CPD alcoholics to shame by demonstrating the right way to drink themselves blind; Astounding young whores puking their guts out on Division and Weed streets...
I, the great Seiser aspirer, predicted ALL this would happen, and I was right on as always.
Me likey being an A/3 puke!

The "real" reason for the seatbelt missions is to look for cars with "thugs" and to get guns off the street?
Wow, thanks for the insight! I'll keep that in mind the next time I see four two-man beat cars doing a 1700 hrs rush-hour "seatbelt enforcement mission" on Division.
I predict even more bullsh*t money-generating schemes for CPD in '08...
To poster at 0233 hours:
If the purpose of the missions was not getting tickets, why did the SBE (sand bag everyone?) missions start when movers declined; why when everyone wrote state charge on SBE tickets did the department create the "Triple-T"?
All about the movers
