Fleet Blows
We've noticed it more and more lately - no pool cars.
It's reached critical mass in a number of Areas. We're hearing of 5, 6, even 8 and 10 cars down in Districts and no pool cars for any of these down vehicles.
Fleet is allegedly junking cars for cheap to certain connected salvage yards, new cars are non existent and the City has been, let's just say they've been "lax" in paying bills instead of criminally negligent, so there aren't any spare parts in the pipeline.
Anyone know if the new Supe is a mechanic?

.Sgt in oo/? been fixing are own car because downing it means no replacement.
Why my window don't roll down? Where my door handle is? Why my seat adjustment handle missing? Why my glove Department don't open? Why my brakes down so low? Where my visor is? Why my check engine light on? Why my red brake light on too? I need me a job in Fleet management and shit. Them cats don't do shit Joe. They useless as hell, dawg. They can't even change a flat. That shit scandalous as all hail.
Weis is not a mechanic, nor has he ever been in charge of mechanics, even at a remove. That is, an FBI SAC doesn't manage the support functions of his office. Those things get run out of FBI HQ in Washington.
I think this could be a serious problem for Weis in many respects. An SAC is a mid-level manager. He doesn't deal with issues of procurement, hiring & training, buildings, administration, contracts, capital budget... No matter how smart or honest he is, Weis' lack of experience in these areas is going to bite him on the ass.
Top boss is fundamentally different from supervisor, even big supervisor.
Just a Civilian.
"He vowed to deploy officers "where the crime is" and to reassign to street duty officers "hiding out" at police headquarters and on medical rolls."
Why stop there? Check the districts' CAPS & front offices as well.
He vowed to deploy officers "where the crime is" and to reassign to street duty officers "hiding out" at police headquarters and on medical rolls.
What I find so amusing is even an outsider, can see the mismanagement of manpower at HQ's and those abusing the medical, and our current "leaders" can't and/or refuse to.
I know of at least 50 cars that are usable that go idle everyday, burning gas, sitting by roving dope spots, in Area 4, and I ain't chasing them either!
They are "Closed Market" cars sitting around with old farts doing nothing but burning gas both inside and outside of the cars! Pee YEEWW!!!
Closed Market is useless!
Let me tell ya also, I have over 25years on this job and there are no bosses on this department that's gonna get me to do anything! I will retire when I am good and goddam ready!
So you can blow your activity and numbers out of your ass! Says KMA!
How much gas is wasted and how better these squad cars can be used then sitting by some phamtom dope spot by a westside, whiny, store front church?
I know I probably, in the amount of time that I have done Closed Market since it started a few years ago. I more than likely and easily wasted over a 1000 gallons of gasoline, in 1 squad car, just idling by some empty block all because some useless, liberal piece of garbage Westside Jesse Jackson wannabe want to see more poleezezz!
Closed Market is a big time gas waster and the amount of cars sitting around babysitting with no activity is astounding!
Now multiply that by about at least 25 cars a day at Closed Market if not more. That is a whole lot of gas at $3.25 a gallon!
I also laugh at the White Shirts who think that they can get us old guys to do street stops! Yeah right!
Hey white shirts, do you really believe that I'm gonna get involved in something where I'm going to write any paper after 25 years on this job! BWAAA HAAA!!!!!
The only thing I do at Closed Market is plan for my retirement, sometimes the planning is done with my eyes closed!

Why are all the "front line" bosses cars about 48 cars with very low mileage sitting at 51st behind the fence? They could be put to use! Where are the new cars? Fleet has nothing as far as mechanics just parts changers who have no clue how to repair a vehicle! As far as me i am also KMA street stops what is that, handcuffs sorry rusty! I will get my pension and especially with what the new supt sttaed i am done doing anything remotely polcing!
let the new boss clear out all the dead weight in thr commander's office , caps office , tact secretary , officers assigned to parks , officers as receptionists at police headquarters etc
then we can man the rapid response cars
The person that engineered the fleet take over of our EMMD will be getting his just deserts. Word from fleet and streets and sanitation is that a big scandal is brewing over a woman who has filed or is about to file an EEOC complaint against a certain Commissioner for sexual harassment which resulted in the victim becoming pregnant. Watch for the mayor to make a move over at streets and sanitation. Maybe the asshole involved can go back to where he started, on the back of a garbage truck.
Those officers sitting out there waiting for retirement playing the game of looking like they are working make me sick. I'm sure if you are that lazy, when a brother officer is calling for help, you sit there and wait for others to come to his aid. Maybe if you keep those eyes closed watching your dope spot, you may be calling for help from those other officers and they will take their time in coming to your aid.
OH MY GOD, I SAW THIS ON THE PREMIERE OF THE WIRE THE OTHER NIGHT! The city of Baltimore is really in a financial pickle. Mayor Carcetti is forced to reneg on his promises of raises for police, instead, having to funnel what money he can into the crumbling school system (he had to say "no" to a bailout for the schools from the governor because he plans on running for governor in the next couple years!)
Anyway, it gets so bad that the police are piling up so much overtime, they aren't even getting paid. Squad cars are in a state of disrepair, and two POs get into a fist-fight outside the station house. And guess what? Sargeant Carver has to watch on with the Commander (white guy with a mustache, forget his name).
Worst part is, the Mayor decides to shut down the Wire. They cannot get Marlowe Stansfield, the mastermind behind 22 stiffs found inside abandoned row-houses. McNulty and the Asian broad get sent back to Homicide. McNulty falls off the wagon. He's banging chicks, or at least trying to.
And the Sun, oh the Baltimore-Sun, is fighting its own financial woes. Readership is down, no one's reading the rag. Until a story of Deepthroat-like proportions comes across the NEWSWIRE from the Council notes, in which a known-drug dealer pockets $1M from the (nearly-bankrupt city) for his strip club to relocate!
What is going to happen next? Bubbles is doing okay, kind of. I mean, he's going about his life, clean. But temptations abound when he's forced into the street while the person helping him is at work (hey, she just doesn't trust him).
And what's going to happen to McNulty, I mean, he's off-the-wagon, unhappy with his re-assignment. He's trying to pay his bar bills with overtime sheets, as worthless as a .COM stock circa 2001, PRE-9/11.
And the rest of the force is down. And Marlowe is going about his business. And Sargeant Carver is off to a rough start in his new post. And the redheaded chick is still nailing the bald-headed black dude, though they're out in the open now, thankfully...

Why you FOP Unit Rep no file safety grievance EVERY DAY?
no pool cars in area 3 for the 018 district.
What I find so amusing is even an outsider, can see the mismanagement of manpower at HQ's and those abusing the medical, and our current "leaders" can't and/or refuse to.
What he again already doesn't realize is that you can't put civilians in all the spots at 35th, there is sensitive information going through there that you don't need getting diseminated. Civilians have no place in POlice Administration for obvious reasons.
I Found the some
cars they are everywhere except in the districts.... Tru has more cars (unit expands all the time - maybe if they had one car per team that would be more usefull since they all hang out all day anyways... i.e. eatin, arrest)....
Safe school passage has about 30 cars sitting idle in the 010th district. They are used from 1:00 to 5:00 on school days... otherwise they just sit while the police that answer jobs have no cars.
If you really think about it, someone up high must decide that it is more usefull to let a car sit idle for such long periods of time. But WHO?
I say when there is no car. Just go sit and wait for the Sgt to find you one. Why go out there and get in trouble. Its not your job to shit vechiles out of your ass for use.
For the guy with 25 years on the job and coasting. You are the type that gives everyone in LE a bad name. "LAZY!" I wish my son was still on the street. He probably made more arrests and was involved in more action in his 4 years than you were with your 25 years. How do I know? You just didn't become lazy, you started out that way 25 years ago. Unfortunately, my son was killed in the line of duty, doing his job and not sleeping somewhere waiting for his shift to end.
I remember some poor sap in MAIS wasted his time a couple of years back, working out a scheme to reduce the amount of mo gas used by the depatment. Figured out how to save a million bucks a year by keeping a closer check on tire pressures.
Wonder what the department ever did with that one? Hope the kid wised-up and realized that the city/Mayor don't give a shit about wasted dough, squad car safety or increased hydro-carbon output.
Maybe they should make foot guys walk the beat, not drive to the beat.
It is great to know that guys like KMA are out protecting the city. We can only hope that the new super will fire guys caught sleeping on the citys time.
Ever since fleet took over Motor Maintenance service has gone down. We are no longer a priority with the mechanics, we are now just another city agency vehicle. Have you noticed they work on other department vehicles in the Area Three Garage while squad cars wait to get serviced? Hence you have no vehicles to replace the ones that keep breaking down. The City That Works.....Ha Ha Ha
hey mayor instead of spending what ive heard is around $40,000 plus for cameras in the squads how about some cars that work and batteries for the radios that will last the whole tour...and fuck you very much mr mayor
For all of you KMA haters out there!
It is pretty obvious you ain't got a fucking clue about what is really happening in this city!
Learn how the game is played and stay alive is what I say, kids!
Keep your money in your pockets!
You too will wake up and realize from the top boss and on down they will throw you under the bus, like a cheap used whore! All of you dumb fucks!
Look at how the new Sup guy, he is already talking about any pimpy infraction will get you a problem! Well fuck you, Mr. Fed!
The easiest way to not get into to infractions and log numbers is to NOT do NOTHING!
Don't blame the KMA for that!
Blame the city and the bosses, storefront reverends, news media that keep dredging old shit!
All you young, go getter mother fuckas out there.
I want to see how you will be in 15or 20 years. I'll bet a ton of money on the pass line on the craps table that every one of you asshats will by crying to get out of this job and grab your pensions and run to some where that have no wild animals, of the two legged variety running around!
You want to stay alive on this job and grab a pension rather than get fired or killed?
Then talked to Mr. KMA, I'll be here a couple of more years before I drop the PAR form!
Signed Mr. KMA!
Go check your district parking lots.
Plenty of marked cars with no mars lights parked overnight at some stations. I guess the headquarters people dont like to use their own gas so they drive to a station IN THE MORNING, park personal car then p/u the marked headquarters cars their supposed to use for lunch runs or whatever to drive to the Ivory Tower!
Check the parking lots of 016,08,09,017,024,004 any night, not only marked cars not controlled by the district but OEMC suv's.
NO pool cars but plenty of these marked no mars bars special people vehicles all over the place parked on 3rd and 1st watch. NEW AND NICE TOO! NO CAGES!
My car today had a 111,000 miles on it and smelled like a dead guy sitting for 2 weeks!
Got to love it now...Grease and oil. FOUR FUCKING DAYS!!!!!! How the fuck does it take 4 days to change the fucking oil...The only place I ever see greas is on the fucking steering wheel and hood. Never under the car....Fucking useless bastards...
C'MON!!!! WHO CARES ABOUT THE FIELD OFFICERS AS LONG AS HQ EXEMPTS AND WHITE SHIRT WANNA BEEZ HAVE A CAR TO TAKE HOME. DON'T BOTHER FLEET WITH FIXING SQUAD CARS WHEN THEIR CONCERN IS TO KEEP 35TH STREET HAPPY WITH THEIR PRETTY CARS!!!
BY THE WAY...WHO THE HELL IS IN CHARGE OF THIS STINKING FLEET. LET'S GET SOME EXPERTS INVOLVED!!!!! FLEET MANAGEMENT IS FAILING
AT MANAGING THE FLEET....WOW! IMAGINE THAT.
GFY I hope entire watches get shuteye between idiotic calls. Safest way to a pension! Don't you get it? The city will fuck you and attempt to ruin your family's future on nothing more than a political whim. Very few people come on this job to be dogs but intelligent people can read the writing on the wall. Keep your head down and get to retirement. Let the city burn. No one has ever been stripped for doing nothing.
Who needs cars.We should go back to call boxes.Imagine all the money the city would save.
""You just didn't become lazy, you started out that way 25 years ago. Unfortunately, my son was killed in the line of duty, doing his job and not sleeping somewhere waiting for his shift to end.""
With all due respect...this PO probably did NOT start out lazy 25 years ago; most (not all) new
officers want to change the world. However, after a few years, you realize the system doesn't give a shit about what you think (see comment about tire pressure) and the doesn't give you equipment to do your job. (Read this whole thread). I have been the police about 18 years and can tell you, after you get beat on by the system and realizing that there is NOTHING anyone is going to do about it, you just kind of give up on some things. That is not to say I would not back my fellow officer up, nothing further from the truth, but some things you just have to say 'oh well' and accept.
I'm sorry about your son, but talk to some old timers and see the picture through their eyes, too.
I don't know why anyone is shocked by this. The City cuts corners regardless of Officer Safety. If I remember Correctly City Ordinance says you cannot operate a taxi that is over 5 yrs old for safety reasons but they have us use squad cars that exceed that. Just look at the driving school at the academy. Their cars are 5 plus years old plus they do not have a front wheel drive Chevy to teach the recruits the difference between front and rear wheel driving. Sounds like a lawsuit to me waiting to happen. Improper/obsolete equipment for training.
FIx your own car. Don't rely on fleet management. I spend $100 at Autozone and save my self and my partner a lot of headache. The money isn't much because it is more risky to my health to drive a POS Pool car with 180,000 miles on it. I can do a lot of work in 90 minutes, on company time. I have a screwdriver in my car, too. But there is no fecal matter on it.
I noticed a lot of the problems police complain about involve something as minor as a $1 15A fuse. Why down a car and drive a POS for that. I become a mini Pep Boy for a feew minutes and save the headache

And also the hair gels that are beating people, and shooting like the wild west, and the hair gel cowards that leave their parntners in peril!
The exempts all have nice cars. They ar exempt from having to worry about poor vehicles, like everything else that they are exempt from. Accountability is a word that they will direct at you and me and never turn on themselves.

Keep doing that Moron, that's exactly what they want you to do. When they find out you put unauthorized parts in a department vehilce after you crashed& injured your partner. Guess who's on the hook?
Asinine& Idiotic that's the New Breed on this department.
God Help Us!!

Hey JP,lets start with some new fucking cars,ok
kma, retire your bad attitude now. none of us need it. just go, make yourself happy, instead of trying to make the rest of us miserable.

010... some guy parks a marked car there with no lights... who are these people?
for the asshat that obviously hates TRU and wants cars he can have them the GPS cars that is. At least the cars are being used. Have you seen all the idle cars in 19.
Useles department I'm still waiting for my new PDT promised by Phil. Instead I get a video camera. I hope I can run names/plates through it. Maybe if I catch something funny the city will send it to AFHV an win the grand prize so they can buy me PDT. I'm onto you Richie.
Dear KMA, Why don't you quit you lazy piece of shit. What is the difference between you and a welfare mother....she stays home to sleep and you go to "work' to sleep. If you hate it so much TAKE YOUR OFF. Quit using the city as an excuse to act the way you do. You probably came on the job as a mutt. We all know there are things wrong with this job but who wants to listen to your BS. Please, do us all a favor and QUIT!
Stop fixing your own car. They pay people to do that. Take car in for every little thing. Let them down them all, who cares? Let's see what happens when 1/2 the beats have no cars, then what?--
Squad: "2999 we are in a RAP, no cars available."
2999: "10-4 squad, that's literally
NO CARS available, notify Fleet Management; have their supervisor check over their mechanics logs and get the cars back in service ASAP, all Fleet lunches will be denied until the cars are ready.
Ya, right.......
By fixing the cars yourself and/or taking out the POS's that are dangerous, you are only enabling them to continue on with 'business as usual' Put the car down, put the wagon down, tell your Sgt. there are no cars at the area, now what does he want you to do? Too many of us forget we get paid by the hour, not by the number of jobs we handle or how many hours our behind is in the car.

Uh, if in fact it "sexual harassment" then wouldn't the resulting pregnancy constitute rape? Or was this a relationship gone bad? Sounds like some bullshit either way.

1/08/2008 11:27:00 AM
Yeah, like who's fucking who.
KMA is 100% right. Most Police Agencies officers retire with 20 years srevice, not 30+. They probably all started out as hard-chargers, but after several decades, the b.s. piles up, along with the age. Lots of young guys just don't realize that numerous cops with lots of years on have some type of physical ailments, health-related problems, some age-related, some job related. I've worked with real healthy strong guys who are now fat, tired, burnout old men with health problems. Youngsters, beware, this will all be coming to you sooner than you think. In the Academy doors a healthy young go-getter, out the retirement door a burnt-out fat old guy with lingering ailments. So try to remember this and quit complaining like pompous little bitches. Your turn is coming.
As long as the cigarette lighter works so I can plug in my DVD player - I can give a shit less about the fuckin' fleet.
