- A city Department of Revenue van carrying an undisclosed amount of quarters was stolen Thursday. It was recovered a short time later -- minus the loot. The Ford van was taken from the 2900 block of South Vernon about 12:06 p.m. and recovered about 50 minutes later just over a mile away. The department is in charge of parking meters.
- A lawyer for a former Chicago cop convicted of rape told a judge Thursday he has new evidence that the alleged victim brought the charges because she wanted money. Peter Hickey, lawyer for former Sgt. John Herman, told Judge Joseph Claps of the witness. Claps found Herman guilty last month, but Hickey wants the judge to order a new trial.

John Herman seems to be a piece of shit, asshole, retard jackoff. This opinion is based on his actions in life even before this case came up. But a rapist he is not.
Is he guilty of official misconduct? Possibly. Was the judge clearly was furthering his or someone else's agenda by convicting Herman in this matter? You know it.
Dick Devine, Darren O'Brien & company are also guilty of unlawfully charging Herman when the evidence available to them indicated that a rape did not occur. These so called "men" should be brought up on ethics charges by the Illinois ARDC.
Someone on here asked where the Revs were at the sentencing of the scum bag cops who ran a piece of the dope trade in there neighborhood. According to the Sun Times today they already were there at trial testifying for the "Good family men". I guess their degree of outrage is proportionate to skin color and the ability to get money from the situation.
John Herman is about as innocent as OJ. Enough said! His actions caused an incredible amount of shame and discredit to the CPD. He was a Sgt. of Police. His conduct was disgusting. I don't believe he should be sentenced to 24 years in prison where he will probably commit suicide or be murdered. I think waking up every day as a felon with virtually no hope of regaining his former status is enough punishment. Waking up being no better, perhaps worse, than some skell in the projects or on the westside is sufficient punishment. Knowing that he can never espouse right wing Republican conservative views is enough punishment. He can never vote or own a weapon. He will probably flee to Idaho and lie and say that he had to flee the n***g**s and Sp**s in Sicago. Funny now he is nothing more than a skell. Hell Gator Bradley and Michael Moore now have more standing than former Sgt. Herman. The former Sgt. is now a worse skell than the no good street bucks whom I am sure he made fun of and desparaged. Funny how life can deal you some interesting times.

John Kass a good column about Mike Mette todays paper. Basically said Ill 's gov and states att, lisa ,have washed their hands of the whole affair. Iowa's gov. also stated he couldn't do anything. what a bunch of ass wipes. remember this could have been any of us. so drop a line to Mike and let him know he is not forgotten

If there is evidence that exonerates Herman, the Judge that convicted should not hear it, an impartial judge should make the ruling, not the cop-hater liberal judge who sentenced Herman.

If John goes to the joint he will get what is called "quick turnaround", in essence priority proessed at Stateville's NRC Unit and shipped out immediately in a IDOC van and raced quickly to Sheridan Correctional Center. That's wherre high profile baby rapers, fur burglars, and defrocked coppers go. If it is 'too hot' there, he will get sent out on an 'interstate compact'....you give us a crooked cop and we'll give you one of ours. No one will know who he is in another state. Usually Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky or Ohio. He was no rapist but he was/is a fuck up on the job....obviously. But prison is not what he deserves. Maybe, must maybe, the Sgt. and Lt. on 3rd watch are just more than a little bit tired of all the common lackluster BS that the 3rd watch dogs bring to ALL of the 25 Districts in this city, and have simply had enough. Think about it. No watch has more personnel, and more personnel who are doing aboslutely NOTHING. 3rd watch is the same all around. A few of the more aggressive guys get put on a mission car, and their activity basically carries the watch...oh, and that of the 3rd watch traffic car. Start pulling up the activity of the 3rd watch personnel for the entire last year, and you'll see what I'm talking about. And the problem doesn't only exist in the Deuce.
Huge was of cars and gasoline on 3rd watch, CITYWIDE.
Oh, and by the way, JAMO was a damn good cop when he was a PO, not that it should matter, because now he's a supervisor. Most of the POs in the Deuce couldn't even begin to fill his shoes. Lots of people are saying that when the projects got demolished, so did the work ethic in 002. Seems to be true. Heard one guy on days bragging that he didn't get one call for police service for 5 days. I guess that's why he spends most of his tour in 021.

didn't even read all this shit before I gave my comment. Herman is not a bad person. He is a bad police sgt. He is not supposed to be getting blow jobs at work. period. But he shouldn't even almost EVEN be compared to a murderer. FIRE HIM don't incarcerate him. I knew the guy and I hate everyone and I didn't hate him.
Iowa again is dragging their heels on Mike's appeal. They are asking for another extension on filing their brief. This the second/third time they have asked for an extension. What are they afraid of???
