Time Warp?
Sneed hears rumbles that a Chicago Police overtime scandal being probed by the Internal Affairs Division, tipped in Sneed's column Friday, is expanding big-time.
Word is a major audit of overtime records for officers at O'Hare and Midway airports is under way. Sneed is told that Internal Affairs Division officers arrived at both airports last week and seized the overtime files for programs funded by the feds.
Several weeks ago, the IAD busted traffic officers who allegedly falsified traffic arrest reports in an overtime scam dealing with a traffic safety program funded by the state and the feds.
Were papers shredded? Looks like top cop Jody Weis means business. The alleged scams were reportedly discovered by new airport law enforcement police recently selected by Weis.

Take the top dozen and do a line by line audit of each one. I guarantee there are felonies in there by the boatload.

An 18-year-old man was fatally struck with a baseball bat Saturday night during a fight between two groups of people, according to Chicago police.
Shortly after 11 p.m., an argument broke out on the 7000 block of South Throop Street, said Chicago police Officer Marcel Bright. The fight turned physical, and someone hit Albert Vaughn, of the 7000 block of South Elizabeth Street, in the head with a bat, authorities said
Vaughn was pronounced dead about 12:20 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police have a 22-year-old man in custody, and the investigation is ongoing, Bright said.
Thank god he is out of CPS!!
A 20-year-old man was killed Saturday night after allegedly flashing gang signs on the 1700 block of North Kedvale Avenue, according to Chicago police.
Witnesses told police Edwin Rivera, of the same block, was shot in the chest about 9:25 p.m. after making the gestures, authorities said.
He was pronounced dead at about 10:10 p.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Maybe the coppers who get fired for forging time sheets can get management jobs at TSA and stay at the airport.

No place for criminals in the police department, they've covered for them for years. A retired Chief of Detectives is in prison for helping a jewel theft ring for God sake. Don't know a thing about Cozzi. Sounds like he already paid for his sin.
Lt's retire with 5,000 hours and up on the books. That's OK? I've seen how they steal. A thief is a thief, a CO with Lt bars is still a thief if he steals time while in a position of authority.

Say what you will about Ted O'Keefe, but he is a good man that would not hurt a policeman. Yes, he is well connected to the Mayor, but oddly enough, he is the only one around the Mayor that is actually a decent human being. How he got to that status, when good human beings do not seem to be the kind that the Mayor has close to him, is amazing, and how he survives in that freaking dog-eat-dog, shark- tank circus at city hall is also amazing.
If you have to have a politically-connected person in the BAS Deputy Superintendent spot, and we at CPD surely have no choice in the matter, we really lucked out when we got Ted. True that.
I have dealt with Ted many times, and he is considerate to the lowest levels of the CPD. I know because that is where I land in this person's organization. And I know a snake, or a political whacko, or a psychophant when I see one, and Ted is neither and none of them. He is is a good man, an educated man, a competent man, and a man concerned with doing the right thing, that trys to do the best he can for us. He is 180 degrees in the other direction from the former civilian politically connected BAS leaders, named from the most recent back; Scrivner, MacDonald, Harris, and Doyle. Previous to Doyle coming on board in 1990, which is when the hall took over the spot, BAS was a sworn exempt spot.
So say what you will, Ted is the best of what you are going to get, and he ain't bad. And he is "exempt" from the J-FED purge. And no, I am not Ted, or his Mom, or his Dad, or his wife, or his family or his anything, just an observer.
And before I am attacked for my spelling, psychphant was a play on words for a psycho sycophant.
If any supervisor tells me to do anything un ethical, I am contacting iad and getting a cr#. If they tell me to bring in numbers I am contacting iad and the press. We are protected under whistle blower law.
