Good Riddance
- A Maywood man who won a $1.75 million settlement after being beaten by Chicago police officers in 1997 was sentenced Monday to 4 years in prison for violating his 2006 probation for selling crack cocaine.
Jeremiah Mearday, 29, pleaded guilty in 2006 to selling crack to an undercover police officer in Glendale Heights. For that December 2005 offense, DuPage Judge George Bakalis sentenced him to 2 years of intensive probation and 180 days in the DuPage County Jail.
Assistant State's Atty. Paul Marchese filed a notice of violation of probation earlier this year, contending that Mearday missed seven months of meetings with the probation department, failed a drug test that indicated the use of marijuana, refused to take another drug test and didn't have a job for a year, as stipulated by his probation requirements.
And he claims to be broke after getting $1.75 million. Even after getting a pile of money, moving out of the city away from the "bad influences" of gangs, and fleeing the "persecution" of out of control Chicago Police, he still manages to revert to selling dope. We wonder if he was going to be "turning his life around" any time soon? Maybe he can find his way in prison. See you in a few years dirtbag.

The MEARDAY fiasco was the beginning of the end for proactive policework.The treatment of COMMITO and THIEL signalled the cities intention to appease and apply CIVILIZED LAW to AN UNCIVILIZED CULTURE.To the outside world it was police brutality,but to those who understand the culture it was "street justice" which the new generation of police don't have a clue.It set the stage for the outwardly confrontational attitude that pervades today.

To break someone's jaw, beat him with a mag light, take him to a FIRE STATION for treatment, and then lie about it on paper? We expect criminals to be criminals. That doesn't excuse our behavior as men and women of one of the best PDs in the country. It's unfortunate that those officers lost their jobs. Even more unfortunate if their actions were to occur every day, every workshift, in every police station in this city. There has to be a line drawn somewhere. you left out the best part of the article which stated that as proof of employment, Mearday had a note signed by his Mommy who worked at the same retail store as he claimed he worked. I hope the State charges him for every day of his incarceration from the 1.75 million.

First off it is two, not to. Next two officers did not get fired because of him, they were fired because of bad advice by a supervisor and not telling the truth on the reports.
for anyone of you uninformed who may have been on the job only a few years and arent really up on this incident i will tell you this. This writing is forgetting the one person who lost his job to this incident and he was nt even ther, murph. I had the priviledge of working with comito and murp and know theil. I will tell you that these gentlemen were always that, gentlemen. i was partners with comito and murph and never in all the time i was working along side them saw them do anything that was not proper. all three of these guys were gentlemen and they lost their jobs because of media and neighborhood pressure. the same area that wanted proactive police work bailed on them when the going got tough. shame on the nobel neighbors.
as far as these three guys are concerned along with their families, three of the nicest most stand up guys you ever had the pleasure of meeting. anyone of them would have given you the shirt off their back if you needed it and they thought it would help.

Meardays cousin was involved in a homicide at a White Castle on the south side a few years back. Meradays cousin walked up the only non black individual in the restarant and shot him for no reason. If you remember the Mearday case the police who got fired were railroaded by our no ball leader Rich "22 Bodyguards" Daley. The police board fired the guys involved in the beef. The only members of the police board to vote to acquit them were the two white members of the board, who incidentally, were the only ones to actually attend the hearings and listen to the testimony. All the others supposedly read the transcript. You know that's bullshit, because most of them probably can't read above a second grade level. Retired Judge Murray was one of the two that voted to acquit. How does anyone get a fair hearing when these dog asses just have to "mail it in?" I have never seen morale this low. I blame that punk Daley. As bad as Weiss, "The Piece"....of shit has come out of the starting gate, he wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Rich, The Bitch.
