Acceptable Raises

Let's see now:
  • Price of gas - doubled
  • Housing prices - plummeting
  • Daley tax hike - $200 million
  • Blago tax hike - $6 billion
Must be exactly the right time for the Toddler to effect his tax hike - another 1% added to the sales tax, raising the sales tax on goods to a whopping 10.25% - over 11.25% in the Central business district of Chicago.

And as we're still required to live in the City, we think it only fair that we receive a raise commensurate with all of the increased taxes, fees and other nonsense that comes along with living in Daley's "paradise."

This city is and has been robbing the good people for quite some time now. Drastic reform is needed, and has been. How about an audit of the public aide system that is so abused by many? How about knocking out a couple 6 figure aldergoons? How about eliminating inspectors altogether?

Damn Chicago, you suck balls.

Why dosent the Mayo jump on board the gun issue he can make big bucks. Say he charges $200.00 to register a gun in the city. If you fail to register you can be charged acordingly. Lots of money to be made could avoid tax increase since most in the city dont feel as safe as they did in years past. Let business owners open some gun shops and with the sales tax increase even more money to be made. Whats he waiting for hes all about the money.

Do you think someone will take the average annual gas increase, tax increase, fee increase and general cost of living and add it all up and submit that when negotiating for our raise? I was just wondering. Because if one were to compare that to the increase the city is offering and it results in an overall decrease in what we take home, I don't think I would be happy with that. I'm just throwing that out there. That is all.

And don't pay attention to the raise my little fifty gave themselves. You're not like them. What's good for us is not good for anyone else. Now excuse me. I have to have my team of bodyguards and their fleet of cars take me to my out of state house on the taxpayers' dime. It's great that Chicagoans pay for my gas and twenty-four hour protection. Want to guess how much that costs you idiots each trip? Hahahahahahahaha!

If daley did not give all the money away to bullshit lawsuits, and all his illegals in his sanctuary city we would have money left for nice raises, new cars, new equipment etc.. A raise how about 7% per year a morale booster how about 4-10 hour days? Also don't raise the medical, make it 55 and free medical, how about a 5 year buyout to get the old salty dogs like me and many others out. daley could then hire more recruits at a much cheaper wage!

Officer Francis killed in the line of duty:

was he 99? justify that!

The mayor midget & cronies have allowed the media to protray us as criminals, as the enemy. The offender fought this Officer who was IN UNIFORM. justify that!

Jfed wants to play musical chairs with our command 'our leadership' planting fear & distrust within our own department. Trust no one.

NOW with they will 'attend' & posture their hypocrisy at this Officer's funeral, mouth their sympathies, & gloat = one (1) less pension to pay out. Jfed's meeting his quota of thinning the herd, earning his salary & props from the mayor. Carry on...

So CPD with all our unions, let's be the sheep and SETTLE FOR WHATEVER SCRAPS THE CITY OFFERS US.

If we get a 4% raise for each of the next 4 years (16%) we will still be losing money, with the price of just about everything going up (gas, food, housing, taxes, city stickers, more taxes, school taxes, school tuitions, bottled water tax, and God knows what else?).

The last 12 months have taken away all the gains we have made in the last 3 years, we are not even keeping our heads above water.

It will take years to recover (and maybe we will never make up the loss) we have suffered.

But fear not, we have plenty of money for the 2016 olympics!

Our pensions will be a shambles, healthcare won't be around, and the average guy and gal won't be able to retire early!

Thanks Mr. Mayor!

Affect the tourist trade much?
Let's see, First set insanely high sales taxes on goods and services that outsiders, as well as, city dwellers have to pay.
Then, win an olympic bid.
Then, watch as the forced consumers roll in.
Then, count up all of the proceeds
Wait a second, we'll never make it to 2016.
Play your fiddle, and watch the flames.

Does his violent bloody death steps from district station get the message across?!? Oh, and by the way all the folks who bitch about how good we got it by all means join us we are short25% overall manpower as now and about 50 % short in patrol so quit calling beefing about response time we can't put your traffic accident, barking dogs, loud music, smelly panhandlers, noisyneighbors, dog off leash and shoping cart bums in your alley; BEFORE battery, shots fired/person with a gun/ traffic accident with INJURY,gangbangers with bats/drugs/dealing fr cars on street etc, theft/autotheft/store theft, burlar alarms, burglary in progress, Domestic Problems!,child lost/mental loose/lost,disabled person needing help, senior person confused/sick/stranded or any death investigation/ landlord-tenant disputes, bar fights or large protests, robbery, assaults, hold-up alarms crowd control,,,Hell, well could go on a couple of pages of all that is dumped on patrolmen in uniform but at some point you wouldn't believe me or wouldn't give a damn if you did. But, your mayor let you down folks, we are doing thousands of more service calls with thousands less police...so don't call for a CPD supervisor, we're busy with the priority calls, and often the first responder...call your alderperson and demand more real police on the street IN UNIFORM not special units. Then you can revert back to the service you demand for your/our taxes, I would like to see more police too. One Working PatrolSgt of Too Few also waiting for the raise before the conartist toddasshole-stroger tax increase makes us the highest paying taxed citizens in the entire United States. Aldermatic Pay vs Our Pay

2-8-041 Compensation for aldermen.
Effective January 1,2006, the salary of aldermen shall be $98,125.00. Beginning on May 21, 2007, this sum shall be adjusted for each calendar year by applying to it the rate of inflation calculated based on the Consumer Price Index - Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (Chicago All Items) published by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. The budget director or his designee shall determine such rate by comparing the figure for the most recent July with the figure for the previous July. Any adjustment shall take effect at the beginning of the first pay period for that year.
An alderman may choose not to have his or her salary adjusted for any given year as set forth in this section by notifying the budget director in a sworn statement on a form provided by the budget director for that purpose. This notification must be received by the budget director by September 15 for the choice to be effective for the following calendar year.
No other City of Chicago salary shall be allowed any alderman except as herein provided.

No alderman refused their pay adjustment.

For 2007 the pay was adjusted to 100,971.00 an increase of 2.9%

For 2008 the pay was adjusted to 104,101.00 an increase of 3.1%

In 2007 we (the police) received a pay increase of 2.0% and as of yet no increase for 2008, which puts us at a loss of real buying power of 4%. Thats not the route we need to take! So for 2008 we need 4% to break even and a larger increase for 2008 if we are to call any pay increase a raise!!

I did not know how bad the public schools were until I had to send my kids there.

Look at the Police website.

All the smiling police officers standing next to the K9, mounted patrol and the marine unit boat.

I had no idea that hard work and sacrafice would get me nothing if I didn’t know anybody or blow the commander on this job.

I didn’t know housing prices would go through the roof 5 years ago keeping me from affording a decent home in this fucked up shot hole of a city.

I didn’t know the department was so corrupt and mismanaged.

I had no idea I would be riding with people who should have never been pushed through the academy.

I didn’t know the city does not spend the money for the best equipment or allow officers to have the proper tools with them as other departments do.

I did not know I would not be able to sleep with my wife for 6 days a week becasue I cant get off midnights for over 11 years while 2 year wonders work days because they know somebody.

For that matter, I never thought I would still be stuck in patrol.

And most off all, I had no idea I would be working for a department that would be so undermanned with so many officers with lowest moral I have ever witnessed.

So screw you jimmy chongo.

Think of another line, that’s so old!!

You are no worse off than most of the rest of the middle class that live in Chicago, other than the midnight shift thing. Your option is to accept things as they are, or to move on.

if you guys had a defined contribution pension plan, there would be no reason to stick it out, and you would not be tied to such a hell hole.

You forgot to mention all the sports activities for the kids. Great Little League field, soccer, football, girls baseball.
Great library too.
Come on over and check us out.
Hegewisch Rocks!

TO: The copper living in Hegwisch...

I'm glad ur taxes are so low...now put away some of that money you saved for when ur kids need chemo for the cancer they got from drinking the water and breathing the air in that cesspool neighborhood you call home (Our insurance thru the city probably won't cover it). Did you just hear that? It's the plucking of the banjos from "Deliverance", hillbilly.

Who am I to challenge the cerebral prowess of a monkey?

Go up in your tree and suck on a banana, fool.

do some of you realize just how good you have it? yes, there is a lot of bs, but any job has that...you have better benefits and pay than i do,,,be grateful that you have a good job (as dangerous as it may be)...be safe

7/03/2008 12:45:00 AM"

Yeah, there's just that nagging little detail about it being dangerous. I kind of wonder if you've ever come to the aid of one of your friends and co-workers who's had his head blown open? We get paid well because of what we do, day in and day out. Nobody ever calls us and says they're having a nice day and why don't we come by for coffee.

We take your sister to the hospital after she's been raped and we help her survive it and we find the sob who did it. We pick up the babies who fall from fourth story windows. We run down the pitch-black alley while you breathlessly wait to see the results of that 'shots fired' call you placed to 911 at 3 am, then went back to bed like 'normal' people get to do.

We're the ones who spend the first five years of our careers desperately trying to explain to our families why we can't make it to weddings, christenings, vacations, graduations, barbeques and the bedside of sick family members. We're on midnights, or working for a sadistic boss who won't give time off, or we have to be in court (our days off belong to the Department first, and court is mandatory), or our days off or start-time has been changed again.

And as for that goof who said our job requires no education, get out of the dark ages. COLLEGE degree, friend. COLLEGE degree. (Now, whether that guarantees an 'education' is up for debate.)

Then, please remember, you're required to know, in a heartbeat, whether that glint is a gun, or a shiny silver hairbrush, when the bad guy turns on you in the darkness after you've chased him two blocks wearing twenty pounds of extra gear around your neck and waist. You go out there and wear ten pounds of bulletproof vest in hundred degree heat daily and still be productive.

I'm worth every penny. Every time I face a combative AIDS patient. Every time I breathe the air in an apartment where the guy has TB. Every time I search someone and get stuck by the used needle in their waistband. You want to begrudge me my medical coverage? Go away. Just go away NOW.

If everyone actually worked in this city we wouldn't have to have a 10% tax on goods. The problem is we (the working force) have to once again support the 3,4 generations of unemployment, which is about 20%. These are the same scum bags that beef and sue us every chance they get. These are the same scum bags that move into our neighborhoods just to destroy everything that the working class (us) built. But we still have to live in this shitty city/county.
