This is important because there are no police officers patrolling your neighborhood tonight. The 4th police district was busy tonight, as it always is, with criminals acting out and shooting each other. So guess what? They pulled Beat 2211, Beat 2234, Beat 2272, Beat 2206A and Beat 2263B from their assigned district (yours!) and sent them to answer calls and protect the citizens in the area of 2500 East 79th Street
Ah yes, the "robbing Peter to pay Paul" syndrome rears its ugly head once again. And our regular e-mail is humming again with stories of rapid cars being pulled out of 016, 017 and a few other spots to control the west side. Deprive the high-tax-paying citizens of the protection that actually makes their properties worth something and send it to the places that (A) are subsidized by the tax paying citizens and (B) spend their nights protesting the police and demanding less police service so junior can get shot by the people ruining the neighborhood.
At least now people can arm themselves in the nice neighborhoods. They'll need it since there aren't enough police around to protect them anymore.

Rapid cars from 016 and 017 were sent to 025 last night. The watch commander from 025 actually has a zone where the cars from 016 and 017 have to stay in. WTF!!!!!
if you took out the sheriffs, locked the doors and dropped a bomb at 26th and cal, 9,200 career criminals would be dead. the stats would plummet.
Same thing for the West end in 008. ALL LATE RAPIDS have to spend ALL the time in the DOC. Guess what - They SHOT AT THE POLICE tonight in the courts (Ten sector - or WEST END) and it took everyone tons of time to get over to the Tac/Gang units under fire. There are TRAINS (Knox N/S) and at Archer/59th (E/W). So if your FAMILY needs help - Call Scummit or Bridgeview. They will have more cars closer.

Sorry but thats the only way we're really going to get the manpower we need. Its early yet, the real sh!t hasn't even hit the fan, and we're already feeling the crunch.
Perhaps if the Watch Commander's log started reflecting all the BACKLOGS in a dist on a DAILY basis something could be done to truly see the big picture that they seemingly cannot see.

Without the Patrolman's input and the administration's willingness to listen and actually lend creedence to it, we are going to continue the downward spiral into a Detroit-like existence. This is to say that nowhere will be safe from acts of public violence and a need for caution. This includes 016, 008 west, and 022. It is so sad to say, but true.
The meetings with the Supt are a great idea, but fail along the lines of him actually asking "Hey, what do YOU think?"
Go down the ranks from the top and see what I see. The only one that I know of in the top 5 to have been hardcore at one time is Jimmy Jackson. He remains as approachable and personable as he was as a Lt. in 011.
Its hard out there, and ever more dangerous. What is the answer? The answer is not having to sweat all the overwhelming liability that YOUR department is laying on you. Yes, it's true. I work tac in 022 and we were told that the citizens in 004 and 005 need police protection much more than 022. We are also being told that we, as tac officers, will find ourselves getting split up to work the other districts. Whole teams will be used in the districts where the police are needed. Basically someone in HQ said "Fuck the residents of 022, give the savages in 004 and 005 THEIR police"...Sad but totally correct. Talk about destroying morale?
Bottom line is that 022 will hardly have police or tac anymore on certain days of the week. It came down from HQ.

There, despite the fact that there have been many shootings in 004 and a Fireman shot within the last 24 hours, the 005th district Tact Lt. felt the Strike Force teams should stay in 005 because he "was familiar with 005."

Thanks for the info.They are here no doubt.I see 'em everyday walking around,SGD's,Spanish 4's,cobra's,MLD's.Their here guys and gals and it's spinning outta control.Call on these mutts whenever you see them.
not sure if anyone has talked about this but how about the 93 yr old lady who was victimized at 104th whipple (2211's bt.) by guys posing as the gas people. Heard an off-duty cop saw some guys running from the house and caught one of them...can anyone confirm this???? And if so, lets name that officer and give him his props...seems like the uniformed guys arent patrolling this beat so i guess we have to...excellent job office!!!!!!
Here's what fucked us as the real police:
1. Not routinely being able to arrest for disorderly with the cop as the complainant. This leaves the shithead still on the street with the contact card as a substitute.
2. Too many units that drained patrol. There is NO reason, I repeat NO REASON that 3rd and 1st Watch beat cars aren't all 2-man.
3. The TRR. A useless piece of paperwork that cops fear will be used against them by IPRA, the BIS program, etc. And is. This puts hesitation into the cop's mind-set.

The City should allow our officers to work extra shifts on weekends during Summer, at time and 1/2, on their days off. That way, the citizens would have trained, experienced officers patrolling, and not need to hire any new recruits, and pay all that extra money for training, etc. It seems although always short manpower, the severe shortages are in the hot months, and on weekend and holiday nights. City use your heads for once.

It is so nice to know that our district is unworthy of police protection. I live in the 16th district and every Friday night for the last month, car windows have been broken. Fireworks, loud music, fights and whatever happen in the house across the street between the hours of midnight and 2 am.
Call 911, no one comes out. Neighbors call 911 no one comes out. Call the 16th dist desk, and the officer that answers the phone says sorry, we are short cars. That is not my problem, as a citizen of this city that has to work days on weekends, I deserve to not be disturbed by unruly neighbors, my neighbors that have babies, don't need their toddlers waking up screaming because some asshole wants to make noise.
So, if the 16th doesn't have enough cars, to answer calls to 911, what do we do if someone has a gun, and starts shooting, or someone decides to use deadly force on one of us? I guess I'll have to get a FOID card and a gun, and protect myself and my family.
16 is a big district and should have all of its police officers available during their shifts, not going were people don't care about each other, or the police. Let them kill each other, leave our district police in our district. We don't have enough on midnights as it is.
Hire more police and leave ours alone.

Heard an off-duty cop saw some guys running from the house and caught one of them...can anyone confirm this???? And if so, lets name that officer and give him his props...seems like the uniformed guys arent patrolling this beat so i guess we have to...excellent job office!!!!!!
The victim was a 93 year old man and yes it was a PPO on his way to work @ 008 who knew the man lived alone and observed numerous people on the back porch where the old man lived and knew they didn't belong there. Felony review was adamant on denying felony charges for burglary because of the victims age and the fact that the victim willingly let the offenders enter his residence but I guess they eventually came around or there was an override.
I heard that the Area Gang Team (on mids) can only go to Kedzie, or they get sent into 009 for illegals shooting at each other. I used to hear them on the radio a lot, I guess moral got to them as well. Thanks for protecting the animal and the illegal.

YOU ARE A DICK! Yes, this story is true. First, it was 93 yr old man. And the off-doty Officer did a phenomenal job. But you get on your soap box and rip those in 022, hiding behind your computer. I'm sure they are short just like every other district. I've had several dealings with Officers from 022 and they have gone above and beyond each and every time. But of course you feel the need to blame the Officers from 022 when the beat has a huge concentration of Police and Fire. Everyone feels the need to blame the Officers when they are not there when they need them, failing to realize they were no doubt on a job at the time. Do your homework and find out what the beat car was doing, and understand an Officer can't be EVERYWHERE all the time. If you're an Officer, you should know that!!
Yes, it's true. I work tac in 022 and we were told that the citizens in 004 and 005 need police protection much more than 022. We are also being told that we, as tac officers, will find ourselves getting split up to work the other districts. Whole teams will be used in the districts where the police are needed. Basically someone in HQ said "Fuck the residents of 022, give the savages in 004 and 005 THEIR police"...Sad but totally correct. Talk about destroying morale?
Bottom line is that 022 will hardly have police or tac anymore on certain days of the week. It came down from HQ.

i too called and got the same answer. the woman seemed aggravated because of lots of phone calls and complaints because of this blog (lol lol). can anyone in 022 confirm that 2211 was only sent out for a few hours on just one occasion. i asked rugai's office about 2211 and/or 2212 being sent out to help close garfield park in 011 a few summers ago on a regular basis (a 022nd dist white shirt confirmed this) and the alderman's office had no idea what i was talking about. keep calling and complaining to rugai's office and to the 022nd dist commanders office. bt 2211 is a large beat and except for 022 tru and a2/sat teams getting coffee or eating at bourbon street, there are never any cars west of longwood dr.
B) Make the TRU go to the dist and answer radio calls, get them on the assigned zone, and have EOC utilize them as avail units.

The police were helping the police. We are all in this together and they needed help. The other cars in 022 that night stepped up and the jobs got handled. Every day and night doesn't go as planned. Cars from other districts were probably used in the 4th District for: A. Police shooting
B. Fireman getting shot
C. Triple homicide
D. All of the above.
Units from other districts are sent when a Plan is initiated. The 4th District is hanging on by a thread just like other districts.

Yes, they are sent from other districts, but not all from one district. The cars are to come from DIFFERENT districts so as to NOT deplete available manpower in the other districts any more than necessary.... There actually is a PLAN for this, but it seems like we don't follow our own POLICY on anything anymore.

TRU does what tru wants, just last night there were a few tru cars eating in EVERGREEN park on 95th and kedzie at 2030 hours with their sgt, maybe they could go into 022 and 008 and answer some calls, evergreen has enough police!
The answer is simple.
#1 Take an extra 5-10 minutes before and after your shift and tour your neighborhood.
#2 Form a "Block Club". Get your non-police neighbors involved.
#3 Find your precint captain. Be a pain in the ass. If you don't have one or he quits, become the precint captain.

I called ald Rugai office and her sec. stated that it was a one time occurance because of a triple homocide. She stated it does not happen often and will not happen often. I hope I wasnt lied to by my elected offical. She also said that the police ofc. starting this email is panic peddling and irresponsible. Guess what the citizens of bt 2211 deserve police service just like citizens everywhere else in the city. Thfts and burglaries are up I wnat my children to be safe in front of the house. The bosses in 022 are telling people at that Police service was not affected in 022 at all when they sent all those cars to 004.
HELLO Dumbasses --- we don't go to a call and then code it and return to quarters. That would be the only way it would not have been affected.
We patrol aggressivly/routinly etc. Presence is a deterent!!!!
But you as a boss are obviously not aware of that. So that explains everything.

for all the people bitching about the cars leaving 022 and such, i agree they should not have to be taken from their districts to work in a place like 004 but i understand why it is done sometimes. look at sunday in 004 3 people killed and because it was such and extensive crime scene 004 needed help from surounding districts, which is understandable i think. the problem with the whole thing is this, when i arrived on scene there were approximately 20 TRU "officers?" on scene, what the fuck should 004 have to go to other districts for if there are that many "officers?" on scene already???? why can't TRU get some balls and actually do some real police work? they show up and want to go see a couple dead people the go on there merry way and look for a fucking tvb or a 1 bagger. they are useless, if you are not going to use them for some like sunday or tuesday in 004 then what is the point of the unit??? they dont do any real police work, they get a fucking bag of weed or less and call that shit police work? they all go to the unit to do nothing, avoid and type of fucking bs call. the should bring their balls to work some night and actually help out sometime, go and a bullshit domestic or something, but they are too fucking good for that. then when a sgt lt or even cpt tells them to do something on a crime scene they say no you cant tell me that and leave. they are a bunch of pussies. and to all the bosses letting them get away with this shit fuck you. there are thousand of guys in districts across the city doing real work, these guys arent doing shit. they pretent to be and elite unit, fuck that everyone knows wheat they are, they have been in 004 for a month or so now and i havent see shit come from them. just a bunch of crap arrests mostly hypes and tvb to gett themselves off the street and avoid the real shit that people in districts actually do every fucking day. either get rid of that shit unit or use them like they are real police.

Since 004 had such a extraordinary scene they should have called for a plan and took a car from every district. NOT a bunch from 022. But I guess who ever is calling the shots there is also a moron.. Maybe he will become the Chief of Tru soon or something now also.

Yes, it's true. I work tac in 022 and we were told that the citizens in 004 and 005 need police protection much more than 022. We are also being told that we, as tac officers, will find ourselves getting split up to work the other districts. Whole teams will be used in the districts where the police are needed. Basically someone in HQ said "Fuck the residents of 022, give the savages in 004 and 005 THEIR police"...Sad but totally correct. Talk about destroying morale?
Bottom line is that 022 will hardly have police or tac anymore on certain days of the week. It came down from HQ.
