J-Fed is fitting right in with another Chicago tradition - get paid at twice the rate for about half the work:
- Daley said Orozco would essentially serve as the city's disaster czar. "OEMC has always been in charge of disaster scenes," the mayor said.
But that raised questions about the role of Police Supt. Jody Weis. When he was hired six months ago at $310,000 a year, the Daley administration justified the eyebrow-raising salary by saying Weis would double as the city's chief emergency officer.
Daley responded by saying Weis, a former supervising FBI agent, would continue to focus on terrorism planning efforts. "That is one thing he has been an expert with over the years," the mayor said.
So is this a not-so-subtle clue to J-Fed that he should concentrate more on crime rates than on disaster preparedness and counter terrorism? We'd be hard pressed to name any instances of disaster training taking place at the Patrol Division levels. We'd actually be at a loss to point out any new initiatives at the ground level that might make responding to or coping with a disaster any easier.
We're going to take a wild guess and say there's no way they can train anyone anymore at the Patrol level because it would involve shorting the Districts even more manpower than they're currently in the hole.

In the Sun Times article Daley says that the fire department are usually the first responders to calls. On average I would say that the police department usually beats the fire department to calls by three of four minutes at least. As usual the mayor has no idea what he's talking about.

Training is such a low priority. JFED is all talk but no substance with training. Nothing new in training programs. Great sound bites but no new programs.
Maybe a little less time at the Gym, the Tanning Salon, Botox Injection Parties, Plastic Surgeries, the Free Sushi Place, the steam bath house and a few other places he visits and a little more time spent on the crime problem.

Has anyone ever figured out that the F.B.I. responds to the scene after the crime has been committed. Very few times they conduct investigations and are pro-active in crime strategies. Its a real shame that this once proud and respected department has come to this. Bascically Daley said that Weis is not competent enough to supervise a disaster scene but he can command 8,500 police officers? Damn shame.
Finally someone who knows how to lead by example. Without a contract and with an administration that wants to screw working cops, CPD is also doing half the job for the same salary.

Hey you better put down the bottle. I don't know where you work where you are always there before CFD. But I work on the SS and about the only time you guys get there before us is if it is a fire. You stick your head inside breathe a little smoke then take the next 3 days off. We go to shooting and accidents and get the patient in the ambo and they are gone BEFORE we ever see the cops. And that is EVERYDAY that we are there BEFORE you get there.

I ran the numbers last night....Pay Code 9161 = 9900 and some change....Run all PO and PO as and you get 11,000 and some change...Now I know we are down un patrol, but the department as a whole is 13,300 plus.... I question the deployment....If scc want I will bring the numbers home and send them to him or her....

The deal was, they claimed it was their policy not to shoot or 'endanger' the officer in question. Instead, by their lack of action, a good friend and genuinely great cop was allowed to lie there and lose most of who and what he was.

Lil' Orozco is now head of OEMC (thank God, the one running an emergency scene!), Brown is now head of CFD, to the tune of $185K(ish)...So far, CFD has been doing a "decent" job, I guess. J-fed now does half the job for damn near twice as much as the head of CFD. Hmmmm, If I was Lil Orozco, or Brown, I'd pitch a fucking fit, either pay them more, or J-fed less!

On paper it sounds good but the clouted will be off. Forget the contract, exempts have their own set of rules. They use the word fair which means taking care of their favorites. Watch the sheets carefully in your unit to see who is given off for parade or avoid the detail. Mention the contract and you are threatened with being dumped. Nothing changes unless you have clout.

18/western is 10 district the proposed 12 distict land was 15 and ashland across from the animals at abla homes. A big reason i don't shop at that jewel on roosevelt and ashland
