Where has the Times been on this silly story?
They may be the bosses, but Mayor Daley, Gov. Blagojevich and Cook County Board President Todd Stroger are not the top wage earners in their respective governments, according to a Chicago Sun-Times survey of public payrolls.
It turns out that a registered nurse working the night shift at a state Department of Human Services facility for the developmentally disabled made $201,000 last year -- $35,000 more than the governor.
And Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis makes nearly $90,000 a year more than his boss, the mayor...
Wow. Wasn't the Better Government Association doing this a year ago? You can search by any one of eleven departments in the city, county or state.

I still don't get why Jody getting twice the salary for half the jobs isn't a big deal to the media. Or is the theft so blatant, nobody cares anymore?
Governments have become legal Ponzi schemes.
Instead of taxing only to pay for essential public services, they've mutated into vast debt financed schemes to enrich a select few, buy/bribe the votes of a minimum 'minority', and, thus, burden the majority of working citizens for generations to come.
What are municipal bonds, if not public debt?
Balanced budgets are merely book keeping slight of hand.
Fiscal irresponsibility is the rule, rather than the exception.
The politicians really believe that, at least within their lifetimes, the taxpayer pot o' gold has no bottom.

The high tax problem can be solved here in the county. Did you see all the high paid asst. jobs they have? Compare the budgets of all the various counties in the state. There isn't much unincorparated area left in the county of Cook, so why the large government body? I think most towns can handle their own problems without county help. CUT THE COUNTY DOWN!

There are stories every year in my area about how some K9 cop or janitor managed to pull down $150k last year.
People learn to work the system. And some people are willing to go to work on a minutes notice. God bless 'em. The whole reason the eatra py is offered is to encourage people to take on unpopular assignments.
As for some of the people listed who make more than their bosses - does anyone believe either Daley or Blago isn't making ten o twenty times their listed salaries under the table?

I find it odd that J-Fed is getting paid so much money, supposedly because he is actually doing two jobs, according to da Daley. Yet he obviously cannot do one of them now if you see how bad crime has become in this city. Can you imagine what will happen with his other job when the terrorists decide to activate here in the Democratic Peoples Republic of Chicago?

Can anyone verify the rumor that the Chief and Deputy Superintendent that are both ex-Feds that J-F*G brought in with him are actually paid quite a bit more than the other people who have the same rank? I've heard it from several people, two with rank, all at Headquarters.
You guys are missing it. The midgets job offer with J-Fed went like this
Midget: They brought me a bunch of guys for the superintendent's job. I have the feds breathing down my neck. I need one of you to be incharge so they will lay off.

crime is no worse in Chicago now then previously. there is really only one thing that has ever been shown to have an effect on crime (short of societal appreciation of personal morality) and that is sure and swift punishment. criminals commit fewer crimes when they spend more time in jail and it discourages their comrades.
cops have little effect on that part of the equation. if the system refuses to lock up the violent hoodlums, not much the PD can do to effect crime on its own.
MAyor Daley said, "If you want the best you have to pay." I believe that this is the best Police Department in the world, despite our flaws. So, Mayor Daley, pay us!

I have absolutely no proof but when I read about some people in the Sox organization coming back with tens of thousands of dollars in salary kick-back money from farm systems out side the USA I begin to wonder if something similar isn't happening with the salaries of the people in high paying City and County jobs, that is kick-backs of salary money being paid to higher-ups.
If there is anything Blago,Daley, Stroger, Burke, Rezko and Ryan etal. have shown us, it is, the one thing they do really, really well is fuck us out of the tax money we pay in to the system.
Are you F***ing kidding me? Gene Roy makes $141,888. a year! That averages out to $465,000. for every intelligent decision that he makes!
BASIC DISHONESTY: Mayor, little dick, Daley explained J-Fraud's huge salery by saying J-Fraud was being paid to to two jobs. Everyone knew Daley was lying at the time. Now that J-Fraud's supposed second job has been given to another, also unqualified hack, shouldn't J-Fraud decline to accept that portion of his salery? It's what an honest person would do. Well J-Fraud, are you honest?
If a nurse wants to put in the overtime God bless her or him. Jody makes a lot of money. Good for him.
My question: Do the salaries include kickback money and profits gained from awarding city contracts to family and friends?
Why on God's good Earth would anyone want to be a politician but for the indulgences that come with the job?
They should put a price tag on such intangibles. Then Daley and Blago would be easily at the top of the charts.

DEAR SCC ..... if you want to see the true number of sworn police officers, break it down by catagory on how many people are paid as police officers,detectives and so forth.. maybe you will find the answer of how many officer there truly are as just beat cops if you use the list the sun times has correctly.. just select city of chicago, then police department, then police officer. there are many sections that say police officer but there are those that say police officer-detailed as detective, or detailed as bomb technicion etc...but just put in police officer...something is about to be exposed i think....

A lot of times these type of contracts specify benefits and conditions far beyond what the average employee gets. As a new CPD officer, you guys probably get maybe 2 weeks vacation. He probably has a deal for a lot more.
He probably also has a much better retirement deal, and probably is not funded through the police pension fund.
And that does not include J-Feds pension, which no one knows the actual amount.
