You know he loves the heat:
A man and teenage boy were fatally shot in the West Side’s Garfield Park neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
The victims were found at 54 N. Lotus Ave. and 5449 W. Washington Blvd., but were part of a single shooting, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said. The victims’ names are being withheld pending family notification.
An argument on the street in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side early Saturday ended with a 28-year-old Uptown man fatally shot in the head.
About 12:50 a.m., the victim and another man got into an argument, which escalated into a scuffle on the 2100 block of South Pulaski Road, according to police News Affairs.
- A Chicago man was fatally shot early Saturday outside the Altgeld Gardens public-housing complex on the Far South Side.
Police responded to a call about 2:45 a.m. in the 600 block of East 131st Street, where they found Charles Jackson, 30, with a gunshot wound to the head
And another one that could have gone very badly, but didn't:
- Chicago police arrested two men for firearm possession Friday and another for possession of 200 grams of crack cocaine worth $20,000.
Police made the arrests after getting a tip about 2 p.m. that people in a vehicle in the 200 block of North Homan Avenue were armed. As officers approached, they saw a man with a high-powered assault weapon.
As officers arrested him, another passenger threw a handgun to the floor and ran.
And this was just Friday night into Saturday. Weekend totals look to be impressive though.

If you have a PDT, that's a big if, code the jobs yourself. If no PDT then correct the dispatcher, in a polite stern voice, when she attempts to change your given code.
When the dispatcher asks your status, tell her/him that you will let her/him know when you are clear, or of any status change.
Just ignore the rest and do what you have to, personals, etc.

Anyway I was amused at the coverage of the shooting on 54 N. lotus. They were able to find a white "crack-head" I-witness to put on T.V. to give his opinion or thoughts as to what happened.

If you are a tac or gang guy/gal, you should go back to a car. Less stress, no canceled days off, it's great! If you decide to stay on, your 'uniform' should be a black T-shirt with a white #'s signs on it, because all you are used for is gathering numbers. Quality tac/gang work has been dead for quite some time.
Chalkie came calling in the 011th district, 3825 W Chicago Ave at 1105 hours. 3 people hit, 2 in good condition 1 DOA. All I can say is that Chalkie brings along fun and good times wherever he goes. Chalkie you are alright in my book.

Seems that 3 armed men kicked the door down. Two then fled after an occupant shot and killed home invader Alexander NEAL (M/1/20) of Compton.
Knowing the "political correctness" of the MSM, this victory for the D.C. v. Heller decision will NOT be covered outside of Southern California.
LAPD West Valley Homicide detectives and the LA Co. Coroner's Office indicate that NEAL's death was an obvious case of justifiable homicide.

When Mayor Richard Daley visits Beijing this week for the opening of the Summer Games, he plans on touting his city's advanced technology for first responders. With Chicago in the running for the 2016 Games, putting the city in a good light internationally could prove helpful.
"I don't think there is any firehouse in the world with this technology," Daley said Saturday at the dedication of Engine Co. 18's new headquarters in the University Village neighborhood. "We're far ahead of any other city in the world in terms of technology for first responders."
This is where all the monies has gone to...manpower is a mute point...so advanced in technology that this city can be put on auto-pilot...MAYBE JUST NO NEED FOR A MAYOR.

the dispatchers need to learn to take the heat from whoever is rushing them - they aren't going to loose their job. they need to stop bossing around POs. Worry about my guys coming home safe. i don't give a fuck about what you're doing behind a computer and a mic, my guys are the ones out there handling the jobs.

i work in 011 and the bitchy female dispatcher sucks fuckin ass.....but the midnight ones on zone 10 are fuckin awsome....there are some dispatchers that are good, and understand this job is bullshit.. on third watch

Sorry, but the only reason I bring it up is when I read for the millionth time about how every badge is a sacrificial hero in constant grave danger. Its like romper room with a bunch of crying kids sometimes.
What you have is a job. J. O. B. Lots of people get hurt on lots of jobs. Some people, with stressful jobs, actually get sick and die earlier on average than you with your oh-so-horrible job. You want to cry on someone's shoulder because you feel so sorry for yourself? There are thousands of police officers that will lick the tears off of your face.
You want to do it in comparison to a dispatcher who will be lucky to see 50, well son maybe you could use a little correction.
Dawn and Gina both ate discipline on zone 10. The people in 010 and 011 were great workers, but I don't remember no benefits for Dawn or Gina when they ate their discipline.
All of this said, I am sorry if you have a truly bad dispatcher on 3rd watch on zone 10. If she does something that outright endangers you, than have your sergeant (or better yet, lieutenant or w/c) call the office and have it noted.

Hey guys on zone 10 if you are being bossed around by dispatcher shame on your sergeants for not letting them know who you work for.
Dispatchers cannot boss you around and the only things they can do is stack jobs in your box or redline you. Everything else they have to ask and get permission from the beat sergeant or sector sergeant the car belongs to.
I in a RAP they have to get permission from your sgt to get that lunch or permission to:
*handle a job outside beat or sector
*borrow the wagon to another district
* down a two man unit on a 99 job
* pull the park car to start handling's jobs
* pull cars off directed mission.etc...
See gents the cars belong to the police not oemc that is why them fax them a line-up everyday with what they have to work with and what special missions are assigned to certain cars. They only can dispatch jobs.
Quick story, Iam not a ball of fire but have never been known to be a dog. The sgt.'s I have worked for knew this and took care of me. Well one time we had a guest on our zone who was a bitch. I had conducted a T/S and lowered my radio so I could hear the motorist talking to me. Well the visiting dispatcher was hitting me on the radio, my sgt knew that wasn't my M.O. and knew if I didn't answer my radio something must be up. He also knew this bitch was looking to redline me so he asked her what kind of job it was and then asked her to dispatch the job to another car. The bitch ignores him and informs him that Bt.XXXX was redlined at XXXX hrs. After letting the motorist off with a warning I returned to my car to find on my pdt several messages from co-workers. I come on the air to be told I was redlined and to head in and see the WC. Upon arrival my sgt. was already in the station red as a tomato, cussing at spitting at the same time and mad as hell. Not at me but at the dispatcher. He was on the phone cussing at the dispatcher on why she didnt reassign the job when he told her to and that those are his cars not hers and wanted to talk to her supervisor. Both my WC and sgt.wanted to get a number on the dispatcher but after talking to her supervisor a retired CPD Lt. things were handle in house and the redline was made to disappear. So remember if your sgt isnt looking out for you these (some) of these dispatcher will try and fuck with you. To the They Don't Make Them Like That Anymore Sergeant R.Y. happy retirement you were a great boss and took care of your troops.

Hey jagoff, that is a Dispatcher doing her job, instead of one that kisses the ass of "friends" on the zone. And no, she isn't a Sergeant of Police, but she is in charge of the zone, whether you like it or not. Fuck you, you whining baby. The Dispatchers and Call Takers get plenty of heat to keep up the pace, and they are tired of getting shit on by the likes of you. Why should they get in trouble for you?
