(Don't) Go Greyhound!
Once again, the drumbeat to ban knives and bus travel grow stronger:
A 40-year-old man is in custody in Manitoba after a young man was stabbed — and, witnesses said, decapitated — aboard a Greyhound bus travelling through the province overnight.
The RCMP would not confirm the reports of beheading, saying only that a stabbing took place around 8:30 p.m. CT on an eastbound Greyhound bus on the Trans-Canada Highway about 20 kilometres west of Portage la Prairie.
This one is pretty gruesome. Other passengers fled the bus and held the door shut until police arrived.

"While we were waiting on the side of the road, [the attacker] was taunting the police with the head in his hand," said Caton.
We don't know for sure, but if some guy is taunting us with a head, he's going to get lit up. We're pretty sure we could beat it in court somehow. Corporation Counsel, however, would settle the case for a cool million bucks.

There really is a Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
There have been some really strange anti-police court cases in Canada. Like a constable being criminally prosecuted for firing an almost immediate second shot at an armed offender.

I will say something in the offender's defense. Reports indicate that the victim had an I-pod. Make a note everybody: Keep the volume of your I-pod down, otherwise you could be the next victim!

Uh, now why would you "light up" someone who is taunting you with a severed head? Insulting, yes, but threatening? I don't think so.
But maybe I don't understand the weapons potential of a severed head. Perhaps the City should propose an ordinance banning severed heads without proper credentials and a mandatory 15 day waiting period.

This is why public tranist will never really catch on in this country. I'll continue to commute alone, thank you, in my air conditioned car even if gas goes to $20.00 per gallon. Don't make me get on a smelly, crowded, noisy, lerching bus filled with I don't know who. I'll happily take my chances on the Stevenson.

Latest news reports in this bizarre killing are that the offender, an Asian male, not only beheaded the victim, but was actually consuming parts of the deceased when Police boarded the bus and restrained him.
