I was disqualified years ago and appealed it to the personnel board. I went without a lawyer and laid my cards on the table. The personnel board rejected the disqualification and I was hired.
I've been on 22 years now and have only taken one day suspension in that time. (on a SPAR for bullshit, but that's another story) and have my share of awards. I've made my fair share of good pinches from D/C to homicide. Many people are in prison because of me, all deserving I should add.
I'm not a thief or a slacker. I think I've lived up to the trust and the chance given to me. Where is the story of coppers like me? There won't be one. typical scumtimes shit.

Speaking of Performance Recognition Systems, any grunt po like myself notice that you can not longer log into this system. When you enter you pc and password you are met with a screen stating you are not allowed access to the system and myust logout.

The appeal process was originated due to a high number of minority applicants being rejected for employment due to minor infractions to major crimes. The Preachers and Reverends pushed Daley to have an appeal process for these minority rejected applicants.
This process was suppose to help applicants who had some minor past history during their growing years. There are some kids who do end up doing some stupid things due to the neighborhood they live in. Some kids are even "forced" in one way or another to be in a gang just to make it through their own neighborhood and their own block.
But like the old saying goes, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Aldermen and other politically connected people used this board to push through some of the worse possible candidates. From relatives who were hard core gang members to pieces of shit who were working for their wards.
Remember we just had a female Aldermen convicted for her illegal activities, who's lover was a high ranking gang member. So God only knows who she used her juice for.
But once again it just reflects the true juice and power these bullshit members of the cloth have with this Mayor. Mayor Daley would bend over and kiss the ass of these storefront preachers before he would ever give a dollar for a benefit for a sick copper.
I personally received a phone call in regards to an arrest I made on a subject who later applied for the police dept. The female arrestee slammed the door on my arm while I was chasing a guy who just did a shooting and ran into the residence she was in. Needless to say, after fighting and arresting her, my partner and I found the shooter hiding in the basement of the house, along with the weapon. She didn't live there but was visiting the offender who did live there. The offender was her baby’s daddy.
The background investigator told me based on my information, he was going to block her employment to the CPD. A few weeks later I received another call from that investigator, he informed me that two exempt members as well as one Alderman had written letters supporting this candidate to be hired. This is what this department is hiring now. A female who is the baby's momma of a gang member who is now convicted and serving time for the shooting.
You are getting the department they want.
If the public knew the truth about Daley and J-Fed, they'd run them out of town on rail.
Both just talk bullshi tand are proven liars. Don't believe a word they say. Unless you are a clout suckhole, they would throw you under the bus despite a great work record. I don't believe they know how much we hate their guts.

Sounds pretty incredible that the Chicago Public School system can raise the 1st day of school attendance so much in just a few years.
Well here is their little secret. A policy that wasn't in place in 2000 but is now. Any student who did not show up for the 1st day of school was un-enrolled in the school system. The only students that were marked absent are students where the parent actually called the school informing them of a bona fide reason for the student to absent, i.e. illness, dental or medical appointments.
The CPS will only re-enroll these students if and when they finally show up. It is a perfect plan to inflate the 1st day of school attendance percentage.
Mayor Daley, not knowing how many students were going to participate in Rev. Meeks' school boycott was hedging his bet to insure a great 1st day of school attendance number and to minimize the importance of Rev. Meeks' boycott.

Except for one, the cases in the paper are old news. So they cite what, 5 cases out of 11-13,000 coppers supposedly?
What is the incident ratio between how many aldermen are crooks and have been indicted, etc. Yes, a 'bad' copper will have ill effects on the citizenry....on a what, one-on-one basis usually? A 'bad' alderman on the other hand, affects not only his/her constituency, but wide-ranging policy that can affect millions of people.
A couple years ago I was working on a case that had the potential to reach all the way to Daley's desk. It was SHOCKING to me how widespread the corruption was, all the way to Springfield.
It took awhile, but I finally realized that there is no one in gov't to put an end to this. I found out I was talking to people about my case, only to later find out they were also the bad guys.
I would walk out of a mtg and within a day I'd have someone calling me saying, 'so, you were at such and such location meeting with so and so yesterday?" This happened wherever I went...city offices, coffee shops, on street corners. It was astounding.
It also dawned on me that since I had NO CLOUT that I was highly expendable.
There is no case, no cause, no reason to do more than the bare minimum on this job. Answer calls, back up your fellow officers.
Without clout you are an ant. Go to work, have as much fun as you can and go home and live your real life.
I hope people get this msg and don't just bash me--not saying I'm a great det or anything--the case presented itself, I looked into it, and it was an eye-opening experience.
We are all we've got, and we better start realizing that. I know a lot of the 'dissing' on here is to let off steam, but we've got to work on presenting a more united front.

The 91 entrance test was corrected by college kids who were instructed to flunk white people wh had relatives who were current or former CPD. A lawsuit was filed by Anne Burke and it was shown that 600 white people were eliminated during the psych based on this one issue. A new firm was hired and the results were redone.
The great Broderick Jones who is rotting in the federal pen and had a momma who worked for Terry Hillard was arrested in a hot car before he got on the job. Imagine the embarrassment we could have saved the department by not hiring him or that clown Abate (another checkered past) for that matter.

few years back, I locked a GD up for a pistol. At that time, UUW were only misd. unless you were a convicted felon. Anyway....this GD, while I was processing him, when asked what his occupation was he told me that he was unemployed, but on the list to be CPD.
Im sure he got hired and is at least a Sgt. by now.

I think this is an important post. I think Daley is declaring war on our department and I think he could win. Imagine if Obama wins and the federal investigations into corruption under Daley end. He would be free to focus his harrasement of the department at will. Many cops will become enraged at the union for not fighting back enough. When the members declare war on the union, he may try to run his own lackey in the department, a common move by him. I think the union is in trouble as are all the members. I think it's a crucial presidential election and Daley could come out on top. There is a rumor is brother is going to run for governor. If he does and wins, there will be no stopping the Daley family and he can do what he wants to the department.

there was an m/1 cop in 005 a couple of years ago (TQ) who has an armed robbery arrest. but i personally know a few m/2's who were block from cpd because of a bar fight on western ave when they were 22. neither person had a conviction. when you lower the standards to get on this cpd, you have to deal with the b.s. that you could have avoided by not hiring the gangbanger, thief, liar in the first place.

It is a great lawsuit. The State Power test they use says nothing about having your fingers locked. It only states that during your practice sit ups that you should practice with your hands behind your head, nothing about fingers locked.

the suntimes had two stories plus a long editorial on the police firing issue. only once, in the very last line of the editorial, did they state that most cops are honest. why? i saved a copy of the times from po francis' death. the paper states "we too often fail to appreciate the the real cops, the truest cops, those such as officer francis who never make the news but keep chicago as safe as they can every day." the times can't shit on a dead cop because of a backlash, but give them 2 days and they once again show how phony they are. does anyone really think the times gave a damn that a cop got killed? doubt it. if a cop gets shot, it MAY get one line in the paper. if the police shoot an armed offender, cops integrity is instantly challenged by the times and the story is front page news. the paper that states "we take these officers for granted" is the the same media who pushes to make us look bad every day. why not go after the mayor and the aldermen and the real crooks of this city? power. we have none and are expendable to this city. of course, what do i know? i'm just a dirty crooked, wife beating, coke snorting, gang banging cop. just ask the sun times. stay safe

The guy who was transferred is not taking it lying down watch the fireworks! The new LT took over and is making so many changes, like this dumb move the micro-manager needs to be managed! Maybe because her husband is a bigger boss she does whatever she wants! Dont forget that the rules for completing the P.O.W.E.R. test apply to ALL recruits. they are spelled out in technicolor before the test. if you cannot bust out the required amount of situps in the allotted time (remember, you get 3 (THREE) chances PER P.O.W.E.R. test in the academy to pass, (potentially 12 opportunities each a week apart to allow for further preparation) after PT every morning for however long they are in there now, then you dont want this job enough to have it. nobody stops recruits from working on their own on something they struggle with (ie.. situps), esp when every single gym instructor will help you out on their own time if you ask them.
moral of the story: if after 3 separate spaced out attempts to pass the sit ups, if you cant keep your hands in the required position , then either youre an idiot or you just cant hack it. sorry

It would be nice if the test was applied the same to all but it is not. Also I think you are missing the point. The Gym instructors are adding requirements to the state power test. There is no requirement to have your fingers locked. Who gave them the authority to disregard state regulations? The recruits are not failing to do the sit-ups. If they could not do them I would agree with you that they should be fired but they do their sit ups and then are told afterward that their fingers slipped and they failed.

The reason Barry is such an ass is because he is trying to be a chameleon and mirror whatever he believes the public wants to hear today. He's the bid AND the senior sgt.
If the dept can screw a sgt, think about what they will do to a PO.

The guy who was transferred is not taking it lying down watch the fireworks! The new LT took over and is making so many changes, like this dumb move the micro-manager needs to be managed! Maybe because her husband is a bigger boss she does whatever she wants! But what about the back ground S&S " who forgot who bought it, why is the IRS asking questions! his salery 160K+hers 110K plus 2 cars work 280K+ !

Hey i work swat and get lots of overtime due to her the new lt leave her alone! Why are so many on the mediacl from her midnight watch? great management? bosses come and go and most are moved, just like obama is going to loose suggesting to much "change" same things happen to bosses!

The 91 entrance test was corrected by college kids who were instructed to flunk white people wh had relatives who were current or former CPD. A lawsuit was filed by Anne Burke and it was shown that 600 white people were eliminated during the psych based on this one issue. A new firm was hired and the results were redone.

The great Broderick Jones who is rotting in the federal pen and had a momma who worked for Terry Hillard was arrested in a hot car before he got on the job. Imagine the embarrassment we could have saved the department by not hiring him or that clown Abate (another checkered past) for that matter.

How about the banger from 14 on suspension for a domestic, on suspension for working while on the medical. Suburban department does a dope warrant he is caught in the dope house with the bangers while in possession of a fake CPD badge and is back at work in less than three months from the fist dayb of his suspension for the domestic. I ts nice to have ties to the gang banging friendly Alderman.

There was a big article in the Daily Southtown not long ago surely IAD could look into this questionable practice correct!
