Police Impersonation Fine Raised

We're still amazed it's only a fine. But this should solve all our problems:
  • Getting caught impersonating a Chicago cop could get more expensive.

Chicago Ald. James Balcer (11th) introduced an ordinance today that calls for increasing the minimum fine for posing as police officer from $10 to $500.

The maximum fine would be increased from $100 to $1,000, under Balcer’s measure, which comes in response to an embarrassing Chicago Police Department security breach.
Gee, maybe Shortshanks and J-Fed could put together a program to charge people $1,000 so they can ride along for a night and see the fine vehicles we travel in, the cutting edge mobile computers, the latest in paperless technology and the finest weapons money can buy.

Then they can see how we respond to numerous calls per hour, engage in hearty vigorous debate with our highly educated citizens, kill another tree for the umpteenth time explaining Orders of Protection, warrant procedures, and suggesting locksmith options to keep your heartache at bay.

We'll fill that budget gap yet!

Sorry but a little OT:

Had an interesting conversation with an old timer fireman. I was told that over 1000 FF's are eligible for retirement this coming year like himself. The FD is asking these folks to stay on for two purposes, manpower and pension. It seems that City is more concerned with the drain in the pension than anything else.

this is silly. changing the city ordinance does nothing. charge them under state law. it must be illegal already under state law.

Things that make you go mmmmmm...

OT:
The aldermen voted to raise the fines for talking on your cell phone while driving from $50 to $100, up to $500 if involved in an accident. But they added that it has nothing to do with the city's budget crisis.....

Apparently this ordinance exists so we can fine all of our regular officers thereby avoiding a shortage of manpower that would result from jailing them, as stipulated under State Law !

LET'S SEE NOW? IF WE RAISE THESE FINES:
Impersonating A Police Officer

WE'LL ALSO HAVE TO RAISE THESE FINES:

Impersonating A Police Detective Impersonating A Police Supervisor
Impersonating A Police Administrator
Impersonating A Police Superintendent

AND IF WE RAISE THESE FINES, WE'LL ALSO HAVE TO RAISE THESE FINES:

Impersonating An Alderman
Impersonating A Mayor
Impersonating A County Commissioner Impersonating A State Legislator

AND IF WE RAISE ALL THESE FINES, WE'LL MAYBE HAVE SOME MONEY TO PAY FOR THE NEW CONTRACT EVERYBODY'S WAITING FOR!

GRAEAT IDEA ABOUT CITIZENS GOING
ON A RIDE ALONG FOR A FEE BUT I
THINK $500 PER RIDE, THE RIDE GOES
TILL THE 1ST PERSONAL THEN A NEW
RIDER COMES ON TILL LUNCH AND SO
ON, THIS WAY YOU GET TWO GRAND A CAR PER WATCH.IF WE CAN KEEP COMING UP WITH NEW REVENUE IDEAS
CPD WILL HAVE THE BEST OF EVERYTHING EXCEPT REAL POLICE
OFFICERS FOR BRASS BOSSES.

SERIOUSLY: IT IS A FELONIOUS ACT.

Has anyone ever seen a fine levied for a quasi-criminal ordinance violation? They are a waste of time.
