Please don't drink and drive. And please don't think that just because you are a cop if another cop stops you for DUI, you will get a pass. Rich Aguilar made an excellent point in the latest FOP newsletter.
Please read it. Also, now the new law states that if you get caught with a DUI, then you need to install a breath a layzer machine and thus this will jeopardize your employment with the city. Please be careful, if you know you will be drinking a lot, then have a designated driver to take you home. Don't gamble with your employment, especially during these trying economic times! Take care and don't drink and drive!

They should read the blog they would get better tips about the truth, why wouldnt they interview the person who was the commander of area 4 at the time? why dean andrews, what was he back then, i believe a street deputy, not sure if he was the street deputy on duty the day of the shooting. the only cover up is that the skull fucked this case up and the real offenders are free. this is not a police on police crime, that theory just sells tv time for fox.

A BACKGROUND CHECK WAS DONE AND GUESS WHAT POPPED MULTIPLE ARREST 4 IMPERSONATING THE POLICE.

Howard was NEVER a merit supervisor. Did not know the man back in his fillmore days, but currently I wish we had 10 more exempts like him so we could unload at least 50 of dog ass merit exempts. He's a good man so unless you have ever met him , don't knock him.

Problem was, none of the other Deputy Supts. wanted to "trade" for Mattie. I guess RayRay finally wore someone down. Lodding will be a refreshing change at the
Academy. God only knows what Mattie will do once he's moved in to 3510.

What is the point anyway? The city is barely hiring any new people in the next few years and promoting very few.

It doesn't matter who runs the academy the problem lies with who the city is hiring. If the city keeps sending the academy shit heads and dummies, it won't matter who runs the place because you can't turn a thug into a police officer. I remember when I applied for the job we had to draw a picture of every tatoo we had on the blank pages in the application packet. I didn't have any, so I left them blank. Now I understand they don't do that anymore on the applications (probably because some lawyer sued) so now the gang members don't have to show their gang tatoo's until they are hired. If anyone was ever a gang member they should never be allowed in law enforcement PERIOD!! Isn't that who we're fighting against? Gang, Guns and drugs, right? We hear it all the time from the lying brass. Maybe the city should ease up on political correctness when it comes to law enforcement. Or at least don't hire gang members!

the best thing that ever happened at the academy in a while. what will all his little puppets do now? maybe they might have to work an 8hr. shift no more exercising and going home early.
The guy photographing police stations is some douchebag with a lawsuit against the city because he got locked up trespassing in a police station lot. He's trying to prove there are no signs that say "no trespassing." He may have a case...

J-Fed and his FBI staff are currently looking to outsource the police academy. They are currently speaking to the Cook County Sheriff and the State Police Academy's. The cities cost for training will be less and it will lessen the cities liabilities. Additionally it will (supposedly) put the clout heavy academy staff back into patrol where we are hurting for manpower. Just wait and see, negotiations are under way. This will take place under J-Feds command.
so thats why i seen tobias moving out boxes today...

Lodding is one of the better bosses out there. The fact that 021 was #1 in anything other than personals should have been addressed. Does it really bother you that a boss had something positive to say about his district's stats? I don't care if it's contact cards, city service requests, or arrests...the fact is he had a positive attitude when he addressed the troops which is too uncommon these days and could be one of the many reasons why morale is in the toilet. Anyone who WORKS for him knows he acknowledges and respects the working police. And to clarify, no I don't mean just writing contact cards.

THAT was a stupid idea from the start! A backwards intrusive search at the very least. Many have done some stupid things in their youth, and a tattoo is not definitive proof...it easily could have been false bravado and 'wanting' to viewed as tough. Additionally, some are applied out of necessity so you can walk through the neighborhood. And finally, some can be chalked up to youthful indiscretion, a bad choice with regret, and a changed life. Not everything done at the age of 13 is an indictment for life. If you really knew anything about gangs, you would know this. We didn't all grow up the same way, but by the time we became adults there are some value systems we all have in common... tattoo or not!

Howard Lodding was never a merit Supervisor????? That seems to be a stretch and completely untrue. Lodding was promoted to Sgt in 1998. That is a fact. That means in less than 11 years he went from PO to ADS. The last time I checked there isn't a test for DC or ADS. I don't know if he was a merit Sgt or LT. That facts are simple merit is the only way to make it past the rank of LT.
Tobias was a Sgt at the academy when Lodding was still a PO at the academy. I really don't think you can get to the academy without help (phone call).
I'm not going to say a bad thing about either of these bosses. Tobias is not a bad guy if you know him. He simply has not spent alot of time in the patrol division at least at the district level. Lodding is guy who took this job on whim. Lodding was a laborer or plumber before this job. He has turned that whim into quite a windfall. Thats not a bad thing. He is a nice guy and not half as arrogant as most bosses on this job.
Howie Loddy baby is sexy. I would work for him anyday.
I think those on this post who keep saying how good, great, cool, etc. some of these SGTS, LTS, and CAPTS are, is being monitored by those moron bosses who will see to it that they don't go anywhere COOL! You don't necessarily need signs. you only have to tell them once to leave and if they don't it's trespassing. No case.

the guy being interviewed wasn't a paramedic. watch the interview again. i got the feeling he was another copper.
anyway, the point this guy makes is, that his wallet, star, gun, cell phone, and jewelery were all still on the scene. if the dicks or whoever is claiming it was a robbery gone bad, all or some of these things should be missing.
i wonder, if the offenders never got away with any of these items, and they were taken in custody by another officer, were they ever returned to the family? if they are being held as evidence, then the family should have gotten an inventory receipt, right? at least there would be a record of it being inventoried in case file.
HMMMMM......... Tobias, worked in SOS as a Patrolman, Sgt. LT. and then the coveted spot as Commander......... He also was a homeroom Sgt. and Range Sgt. in the Academy. ALL pretty cushy CLOUT heavy spots. He was there from beginning to end from patrolman on up for all the thieving going on with the Finnegan scandal. He actually would have the audacity to come to our watch, berate us and calls us the "dog watch" for not being like his buddy and super cop Jerry Finegan and their watch. Our watch would shake our heads in disbelief........... We all knew something shady was going on,but didn't know quite what it was.. Only those is the KNOW did. cough cough Tobias!!!! Tobias sucked up to Lt Blake, and was fully aware of what was going on, on their watch, and only looked at the numbers of our watch. How could you not??? He was the Commander..... Our watch did it the old fashioned way with good old fashioned police work bringing in the heads, guns and dope. Hence why are numbers couldn't compare to their's or for that matter their teams...... This is not watch envy by any means. There were plenty of good HONEST old fashioned coppers on their watch, that steered clear of Finnegan and his merry band of thieves....
He buried the HBT Lt. Bosse, when he became Commander, and buried a prince of a Lt, Lt. Baranowski. Both retired, when Tobias became Commander of SOS, forced out basically. Those that helped him and his career. He returned th favor in kind and bit the hands that fed him. Snake!
I would bet my next paycheck, that Finnegan is singing like a bird, he is giving up the bosses in SOS. It really wouldn't look good now, if the ADS and person in control of the Chicago Police Academy and recruit training who spent most of his career in SOS, was the immediate supervisor in many different uniforms there in SOS, and signed off on all those CR #'s and then tries to state he had NO KNOWLEDGE of the situation....... Shit is going to finally roll up hill on this one. I wonder which other supervisor's heads are going to roll on this one??? Anyone up for a pool of who goes down too?

NO reflection on the man himself; but look at what you just wrote & tell me how Commander or ADS is not a merit promotion? You have a 7/10 chance of being a Sergeant and a 7/10 chance of being a Lieutenant legitimately, ALL other supervisory spots/ranks are 'meritcloutorious'

Gangs are the future of this department. Any decent kid in this city who valued his education and has a good work ethic would be OUT OF HIS MIND to take this job.
The local Catholic High School connection with this department is severed.
The future of this department are the lower level gang recruits who managed to make it through high school without getting caught with a pack or a pistol. All his friends are gang bangers and he'll fit right in the new CPD.
The thugs and thug wannabes they are currently hiring are going to be on this job for the next TWENTY YEARS!
In 10 years, the Superintendent of this place will be a "former" gang member who is "not responsible" for the multiple crimes his family commits around the city.

All bullshit. County wants nothing to do with CPD. State has their own academy and cannot operate two academies. By state law we must maintain a regional academy. They could share resources but no one likes how CPD does training. State has their own system.

C-H (administrative manager) who "works from home" = more like working from Utica, Illinois! When she does show up at the academy, she only works a couple of hours and is gone home.
I hope that some reporter, inspector, iad, or inspector general look into this theft.

If the city keeps sending the academy shit heads and dummies, it won't matter who runs the place because you can't turn a thug into a police officer. I remember when I applied for the job we had to draw a picture of every tatoo we had on the blank pages in the application packet. I didn't have any, so I left them blank. Now I understand they don't do that anymore on the applications (probably because some lawyer sued) so now the gang members don't have to show their gang tatoo's until they are hired. If anyone was ever a gang member they should never be allowed in law enforcement PERIOD!! Isn't that who we're fighting against? Gang, Guns and drugs, right? We hear it all the time from the lying brass. Maybe the city should ease up on political correctness when it comes to law enforcement. Or at least don't hire gang members!

Really? And how did you get out of the gang? Did you take a beat down. Avoid the old neighborhood? Family send you down south to get out of the city for awhile? Listen, pal, there are good guys and bad guys. There are people that will always choose the right thing over the wrong thing and they grow up to be police officers. CPD does not need "former" or rehabilitated bangers. It doesn't need people who may feel loyalty to the wrong people at the wrong time. It doesn't need people who have values that are malleable or twist and turn depending on their environment. Sounds like you fucked up and now you don't want to live with it. You were a gutless follower then and are probably a follower now. You should have had more character and made better choices. The problem with the world today is that there is no shame anymore, no repercussions for poor behavior. No concern for reputation. Everybody wants to do whatever they want and not have to be accountable for that behavior. And that's the problem. Too much respect, help and hand outs given to losers and people that can't or won't carry their weight. Pretty soon you have bums who think they deserve respect, people who want to sit on their lazy asses deserve welfare and former gangbangers that think the CPD doesn't have a right to question their past or tats. You have to stand for something. And you have to do it early on and consistently. Once society starts making excuses for people, it's fucked. Well, one can only hope that this practice stops and all are held accountable for this major theft.
As long as I have know this A. C-H, she has been unable to report to work on a regular basis. Was written up years ago.
I understand that Sgt. Joe D. helped her out and covered for her. Then it went to MET and his front office staff, Sgt. Po's and timekeeper.
Those actions just enabled her to continue her theft.
Someone needs to be held accountable.

Anyone wonder what makes people get promoted up the ladder repeatedly even after they screw up? I see some of you anxiously awaiting the promotion exams not realizing they are nothing more than lottery tickets! The essay questions are the way they get rid of the bright, talented but cloutless individuals so they can put "their" people in! No scores publicly displayed only proves this theory! We just don't get it! It is 2010 now and nothing ever changes! This blog continues to list the exempts, their wards, their "clout" whether it be political or family connections and we all continue to just laugh about it! We are the fools!
