Free Idea for Someone

Someone suggested bracelets along the line of Lance Armstrong's "Live Strong" yellow ones. Here's a free idea for anyone who wants to steal it:
  • Black bracelets with the initials "WDJD?"

    What Did J-Fed Do?
We promise to buy at least a few. Our only request is some of the money go to a worthy police charity. By all means, make a profit, but in these trying times, there are others who need a little help.

I'm so happy you liked my wrist band idea SCC.. It will be a great way to show unity between the officers and even make us chuckle and know we at least have each other... and all of it contributing to a good cause.

How about doing JUST THE JOB AND NOTHING MORE! Sorry boss, I didn’t see any parkers on the way to the hole, no movers either. Do nothing outside of handling the radio assignments…. That’s it! Hand waiver? Waive back and smile! Got your ass kicked? Here’s your report. Got robbed? Here’s your report. “But that’s the guy over there” Well, go get a warrant. Remember: NO CONTACT, NO COMPLAINT! I have over 14 on this job, all as a blue shirt, did the Tact/Gang thing, SOS… but now, stick a fork in me, ‘cause I’m done!

I’ll go the extra mile for another Cop, or their Family, but outside of that… I recommend John Q. Public go out and get a gun, learn karate, protect yourself. I hate to sound so “One Way”, but look out for your own ass; because we are too busy watching our own!

I think that will get peoples attention faster than a bracelet, but maby not a cock-ring....

Hopefully "Chalkie's" people can come up with something lovely!! And SCC can have the link onsite.

I'd buy a few!!!

I like the idea of checkerboard but with just CPD on it. Sell them to the public to. Profits go to a CPD charity. I think many officers might be surprised at the number of citizens who really do support them and wish them well.

The younger officers should be aware of the fact that after June 2013 the City of Chicago does not have to provide health insurance to retirees. At any cost. As in they are on their own. Since we all, hopefully, will be retired someday this is of vital importance to us all.

The FOP keeps saying "something will be negotiated."

I have been hearing that for years! It is 2009. No contract, how in hell can we be assured there will be health insurance there for us when we retire?

The rank and file ought to be up in arms about this but I barely hear a peep. It seems only the old guys are the only ones who know about this since they will have to face it first.

What are we to do? How will this be resolved? When asked tough questions at General Meetings Mark Donahue just gives evasive non-answers and tap dances and nods his head and gets angry at the person asking the question.

What the fuck is being done? This is a BIG thing, we all will have to face this. What are we going to do. I have not gotten a straight answer out of FOP on this issue EVER.

Hey Mike Shields, will you take up this cause and find out from Mark Donahue what the fuck the FOP is doing about it and don't let Donahue off the hook and don't ever let him forget?

You can blame Weis all you wish; however our problems started long before with the Irish idiot elected by illiterate turkeys from Edison Park, Edgebrook, Mt. Greenwood, and every other area where a swing vote might have derailed asshole Daley. Weis didn't fire Comito and Theil. He didn't invent merit promotions and he didn't promote Patricia Walsh, Al Wyszinger, Avila, et al. Phil "May I take your coat Mr. Hanhardt" Cline certainly used it to his advantage. Keep voting for the Irish and enjoy getting it stuck in your ass.

You who advocate less work and claim the general public hates you are going about things the wrong way.
Keep doing your job, stop complaining on this pubic forum, and the public will see you are still being professional even when you don't work for professionals, and they will appreciate you for your integrity.

I guess this would work in the real world, but probably not in Daleyland..Oh well just hoping we could get rid of some of the negative thoughts.

"The younger officers should be aware of the fact that after June 2013 the City of Chicago does not have to provide health insurance to retirees."

Well kids- the past predicts future- each time this is renegoiated- the percentage that the retired po pays increases- it won't disappear but you'll be paying a higher percentage...check out the pension board website under insuranes rates...

"The rank and file ought to be up in arms about this but I barely hear a peep. It seems only the old guys are the only ones who know about this since they will have to face it first."

Yep- and no one is paying attention the Lts VEBA vote- or that the 'agreement' doesn't meet the IRS guidelines for beneficiaries or management-except for Lt. T. B who has some really good thoughts on the issue. VEBA's a great idea is done by the IRS standards and not by Chicago's perversion of it. Check out the lts webnite and download the facts document. Coming to a union near you...

"What are we to do?"

...either educate yourself and act in your own best interest or suffer the consequences.

"Hey Mike Shields, will you take up this cause ??

Mike Shield is one person, one mind- get off your ass and do something-find others that are willing to do something-march on the FOP hall- get your butt off the couch and protect your future! A andfull of people get involved in the union and protecting our jobs-benefits. WE ALL SHOULD!!

...
this is true and I never hearit being adressed. It's only 4 years away and it's coming up fast. Why can't we be self-insured? We have over 10,000 officers (I think). Why cant the CPD and CFD join together and contract with the insurance companies and offer BC/BS, HMOs, etc.? If a small municipality, say Des Plaines, can insure their municipal workers, why can't we insure ourselves?
Will the alderthieves be insured? Does this mean they won't have insurance??

Ok here are the options for the
ANTI-WEIS WRISTBANDS:

Majority wins: black silicone wristbands.. debossed, large font, no color.. to keep it under the radar from the bosses...
Plus a donation made to the Police Memorial.

VOTE on what should be on the band:

1. FALLEN HEROES
2. GO CHALKIE!
3. WDJD? (What Did J-Fed Do?")
4. NEVER FORGET

Wear a lapel pin of chalkie and you can put that on any jacket or clothing and be proud to wear and show your unity not some girlie bracelit under your cuff to hide from the bosses.
