Good News

Police shooting. Subject dead, cops OK:
  • Chicago police shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at officers this afternoon near East 67th Street and South Cornell Avenue on the South Side, police said.

No officers were hurt during the incident, which happened about 2:20 p.m. A loaded revolver that the man who was shot was using during the incident was found at the scene, police said.

Lots of shots fired calls today. That warm weather is a bitch. And today, the Department released the Crime Stats for the year so far:
  • Overall crime from Jan 1-Feb 28th is down 10.2 percent from the same time last year. Murders decreased by 7.4 percent, aggravated batteries down by 3.8 percent and criminal sexual assaults down by 8.9 percent. Robberies increased by .5 percent. Additionally there were 50 murders compared to 54 last year.
Murder is down 7.4 percent. But wasn't it down 30% in January? Seems that the gangs did a little catching up in February even though this had been the coldest January in a decade or so.

Continue to be careful out there.

It is time for the FOP, PBPA< and EVERY officer on that list to file suit. OUR contracts say that if an allegation is unfounded or exonerated it will be off of your record. Our contract also says (because Fucking Donapuke rolled over) that any other findings will no longer be on your record after 5....ohhh sorry--FOP mistake----I mean 7 years. Lawsuits have always drug the old numbers out and I have never understood why we haven't sued for them not detroying the records (like they have to for an expungement or court order) but now is the time. I'm pretty sure I am on it (at least twice if I recall) but then again, You dont get notified of unfounded that you were never served---so I could have 100...
It doesn't matter. Sue the city and Lovie and Lovie. The idiot liberal puke judge can not hear the case, someone else has to. I'm not saying he/she won't be crooked too, but it is worth a shot. It is a labor law violation to have them. I think I will move up three spots when they offer me a Captains" Spot!!!

OFF TOPIC: The Department now tells officers that if they are involved in an auto accident within the city limits of Chicago they are to stay at the scene of the accident and wait for the district watch commander to arrive to assess the officer..Personal injury OR Property damage only........

Shouldn't we get paid overtime if we are off-duty and we are required to wait at the scene for a watch commander?????????? If I had to give a deposition to IAD I would get paid if I was not working. Just checking boys and girls, but I believe we going to get paid!!!!!!

Anyone catch the channel 7 news on 06 Mar 09 at 1630. They were doing live coverage of the shooting and interviewed pookie on the street who said "well yeah he(bad guy) had a gun." While doing the story, all the neighborhood altar boys(hood rats) were right behind the reporter hooting and hollering. It was loud enough that you couldn't hear the reporter talking into the microphone.
Rule of thumb..If you carry a gun and point it at a police officer, expect to be shot several times until the threat you are posing to the officer and other citizens no longer exists. Case closed.

Job well done to the officers involved.

You all complain about the bosses, the promotional system, the mayor the lack of equipment and every other little thing. I never see anybody bring up the single biggest problem this City faces. I'm talking about the parasitic lawyers that are suing this Department into submission and the he uniformed public that sits on juries that are conned into giving OFFENDERS our hard earned tax dollars.

These lawyers have no conscience and they don't have any ethics. Like the serpant in the garden, they tell their lies. They will take the Cities money by any means necessary. The City lawyers play by the rules when they are really in a street fight. I'm not sure if there is any collusion in our court system, but it sure seems like it. I am sure there will be posts that refute this and they will be from those lawyers (yes-we know you read this blog). No one with any time on will argue this - these lawyers are the real problem the taxpayers and the Department face. (ok , the politicians too, but some of them are lawyers too)

Scc, I can now lock up 5 assholes over a 9 year period, have them dream up a complaint to IPRA without fear of any recourse and my name is in the hands of a liberal judge. With all of the fuck the police" sentiment coming from not only the liberals but now from the federal courts as well, we are offically second class citizens. Our union reps should be furious and all over the media fighting on our behalf for the way our rights have been taken away. No contract for almost 2 years!!!What is the purpose of having a contract expiration date if it is going to expire regardless and remain expired for several years at a time. There is absolutely no reason a contract should be expired for longer than 2-3 months tops. I understand the reasoning for a no strike clause, so how about a 2 month expiation time frame clause as well. The FOP will never stand hard against the city for either trying to cater to city hall or personal gain. Guess what FOP, the city will NEVER bargain fair under this asshole mayor. Our union officals fight hard to get elected, but then after they are in, the same old shit. Gee, we can now retire at 29yrs on instead of 31 and it isn't even at 80%. As far a the age limit goes, you should be off this job way before 63. This is a young mans profession and no one should be allowed to stay on after age 55. Retirement should be 75% with 20yrs on with insurance and a 1% increase each year with a max of 25yrs at 80%. The recruit age limit should be 35 yrs of age, which would still get you 20yrs on with 75% by age 55. For the old timers who cry "i have too many bills"... Get another job meathead... you would be getting at least 75% of your salary with insurance to stay at home. Oh well, if this were the rule now, you can be sure that there would be more than a few morons with at least 30 years on.

DEPARTMENT,Police Chicago
It is with great sorrow that we note the death of a once proud police department. The Department succumbed to many years of neglect by command staff who were completely inept and ineffectual, and from the meddling of various politicians and pseudo reverends. The Department left behind many loyal, brave and hard working cops, and countless once proud retirees. RIP

Many proud cities are shadows of their former selves.

Detroit has 100,000+ residents a year leaving. You can buy a home in some neighborhoods for less than $10,000.00.

Cleveland, same thing. Drew Carey could you please put the cover on the pool table and turn out the lights when you leave.

Chicago, $200,000,000.00 yearly operating deficit. We are going the way of Detroit and Cleveland, with a permanent underclass with no motivation, multiple addictions, and a decades long sense of entitlement!

Just wait until it's above 70 degrees outside. Chalky is preparing for a busy summer.

SCC, For you and those of your readers who were unaware, the late, great Paul Harvey, who called Chicago his home for decades, was the son of a Police Officer. He supported the Police unashamedly and often commented about their heroic deeds and actions. This is my favorite. Enjoy.

What Are Policemen Made Of? By Paul Harvey

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't credit me with the mongrel prose: it has many parents-at least 420,000 of them: Policemen.

A Policeman is a composite of what all men are, mingling of a saint and sinner, dust and deity.

Gulled statistics wave the fan over the stinkers, underscore instances of dishonesty and brutality because they are "new". What they really mean is that they are exceptional, unusual, not commonplace.

Buried under the frost is the fact: Less than one-half of one percent of policemen misfit the uniform. That's a better average than you'd find among clergy!

What is a policeman made of? He, of all men, is once the most needed and the most unwanted. He's a strangely nameless creature who is "sir" to his face and "fuzz" to his back

He must be such a diplomat that he can settle differences between individuals so that each will think he won.

But...If the policeman is neat, he's conceited; if he's careless, he's a bum. If he's pleasant, he's flirting;if not, he's a grouch.

He must make an instant decision which would require months for a lawyer to make.

But...If he hurries, he's careless; if he's deliberate, he's lazy. He must be first to an accident and infallible with his diagnosis. He must be able to start breathing, stop bleeding, tie splints and, above all, be sure the victim goes home without a limp. Or expect to be sued.

The police officer must know every gun, draw on the run, and hit where it doesn't hurt.He must be able to whip two men twice his size and half his age without damaging his uniform and without being "brutal". If you hit him, he's a coward. If he hits you, he's a bully.

A policeman must know everything-and not tell. He must know where all the sin is and not partake.

A policeman must, from a single strand of hair, be able to describe the crime, the weapon and the criminal- and tell you where the criminal is hiding.

But...If he catches the criminal, he's lucky; if he doesn't, he's a dunce. If he gets promoted, he has political pull; if he doesn't, he's a dullard. The policeman must chase a bum lead to a dead-end, stake out ten nights to tag one witness who saw it happen-but refused to remember.

The policeman must be a minister, a social worker, a diplomat, a tough guy and a gentleman.

And, of course, he'd have to be genius....For he will have to feed a family on a policeman's salary.

This is Paul Harvey.

Good day !

I was watching the news on ABC and hot little Stacy Baca was interviewing some shitbird. Here's how it went:

Shitbird: "I's saws him puts down the gun and den da policez shot him."

Hot Baca: "So, he had a gun!?"

Shitbird: "Well, yeah. OK...He did have a gun, but he did everything he was supposed to do and da policez shot him anyways."

My favorite part was the, "he did everything he was supposed to do."

Mama's in the paper today and, of course, she saw everything and, of course, her son never had a gun. Just the idea that she might be able to fill her pockets with cash over the corpse of her dead son must give her a lot of....what's the word...HOPE!

Priceless.

Good job officers.

Let's wait and see......90 day detail is not up until first week of April..Word is that bosses are complaining about the crime in their districts going through the roof!!! Two theories.....wouldn't you want to take the bigger fish down?? and be able to combat gangs on their level?? OR.......Do you want / need another tact team running around in the district NOT concentrating on gangs....I say make another tact team and let the gang unit stay and see what they can do....I bet they will have a big impact this summer!!

The sooner the idiots in charge get through their fucking heads that every shooting is not gang related, that no matter what, gang intelligence is NOT ever going to work and share information with the Districts, the new Gang Unit needs to be dissolved and the police and all of that unit's resources need to be put back into the districts, that the Commander and Watch Commanders cannot do this shit alone, the districts took years to fuck up, a few bullshit missions are not going to have a real impact, get on the news and tell the truth that all of these fucking criminals are not saints, the parents need to raise their fucking kids and the most important thing of them all, they get rid of ALL THE NON POLICE RUNNNING HTE FUCKING DEPARTMENT, we can start to move forward as a city!

3/07/2009 11:00:00 AM

There is no lawsuit that could be filed. But, keeping unsustained CR#'s for more than 7 years is a violation of the collective bargaining agreement.

The problem is that officers cannot sue for a CBA violation. They must first submit to arbitration. After arbitration they could sue, but that would be a waste of money because any court is likely to back the arbitrator.

So, if you are able to find out that the CPD or IPRA are keeping a CR# when it should have been purged, file a grievance.

This is something the FOP should have done a long time ago, like when this list shit first came up in the papers.

To the silver tact car (brunett female w/male partner) patrolling in 12th last night, more specifically, in Pilsen-even though there is so much crime in Pilsen, possibly a gang war--you find time to read a newspaper. By not paying attention, you are adding to the problem and you are not only putting yourself in danger, but you are also putting your partner in danger as well. Pay attention! Then again, you are probably one of those who just look forward to the 1st & the 16th.

Off Topic,BUT:

Note the way the scummy press tries to tie the CPD into any controversy they can. The alledged" crime actually occoured in the suburbs, BUT they cleverly try to tie it to the Chicago Police Department.

"Cops, med examiner spar over cause of man's death
Associated Press
6:23 PM CST, March 7, 2009
STEGER, Ill. - The Cook County medical examiner's office and a south suburban Chicago police department are at odds over the death of a 90-year-old man found tethered to a chair in his home.

The medical examiner's office has ruled Joseph Basile's death last week was a homicide.

He died four days after a neighbor found him seriously ill and tied to a recliner with duct tape and a dog leash. The medical examiner's office has listed the causes of death as dehydration and elder abuse.

But Steger (STAY'-ger) police Chief Richard Stultz says Basile died of natural causes. He describes Basile's family as "loving" and not abusive.

Stultz says Basile had cancer and dementia and that family members restrained him for his own protection.

No charges have been filed."

Can't the FOP or somebody in command or even City Hall say or do something??

CHICAGO is the word that catches the readers eyes!!

If you are required to perform any work then you are eligible to get paid. If the Department sees fit to give you an order restricting movement then it is either compensable or you are under arrest.

Why they have to go and issue this bullshit fax is another knee jerk reaction to an off duty incident in 019 where a PO just drove away from an accident scene.

There is plenty of Illinois State Statutes to cover this type of thing already and enough CPD Rules to deal with failure to follow state law so another fax and then a clarification fax just mucks things up worse.

Don't be misled by j-fed; If wies' holding out on disclosing the list was contempable; I find this a very weak attempt to gain confidence from the rank and file.

This was staged......onlt in daley's court with daley's judges.

It will take a lot more to gain the trust of the rank and file.

I care. I don't know you or any of you for that matter - well, except two, and one well before he was even became CPD and they're good people.

Thee are people who do care about you all. My dad was military and I was raised to respect all military, FF's, P/O's, Medics, etc., and I've instilled those valuses in my own children.

You all are one of a kind - a veru special breed. When the bullets are flying, you run to them when most people would run from them. Your valor is appreciated more than you know.

I know you're probably thinking this comment is full of shit, but with a father who was a lifer in the AF, a brother who was a Corrections Officer turned Marine and my oldest brother a FF and Medic, I just have so much respect for all of you and what you do. The same goes for teachers, doctors and nurses.

My words may not mean much, but they are heartfelt.

Keep your chin up and PLEASE be safe out there. You really are appreciated even if you think you're not.

Take care.

Katey

The UIC "police" are very heavily armed. This was done in response to the Virginia Tech Incident. If you want to see what they carry, check out the SUV's the supervisors ride in. Touch Screen WORKING pdt's,800 Mhz radios with secure net,Total Video and Audio with GPS. Weaponry consists of AR-15(.223 with Scope)12 Ga shotguns various models,AMPLE reserve ammo, night vision equipment. They have a 'tact-unit' that is soft dressed in black Chevy SUV's(similar to the Feds) and equally as heavily armed. God remind me to pay my kids tuition on time........haha.
And this is all for the College? Jody? Hello? can you SEE THIS? And here;s the topper. They have a "lead free" indoor range that will handle all the aforementioned weapons. Im jealous. lol

I just happened to read this news article on line (I repeat: ON LINE INTERNET because I fucking hate Sun times and Tribune and refuse to buy their papers). And while I was reading it, one of the POS witnessed stated " Yeah, he (Suspect) had a gun, but, he put it down and did everything he was supposed to do. And the Police still shot him".
WTF !! I just got nauseated and turned off my computer immediately. As always, the public only get one side of the story and the POS media are always on the wrong side and chosed to interview some crackheads and very UNRELIABLE POS witnesses who won't testify in court as a REAL witness because they either have a warrant or scared to get charge for perjury.

Anyway, Great job to the Officers involved. I'm glad you all went home to your family in one piece. God Bless the CPD!

Loved Channel 7's report last night on the incident. They showed the "memorial" erected for the poor slain honor student. Followed up by the customary Momma statement on "You knows my baby was goin to bees the President some day just like the Messiah" bullshit, or something to that effect. According to Mom the kid was on the verge of being nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

When will the media report facts? The offender was just that, "an offender." He made his play and lost. Plain and simple. Nothing more nothing less. The assholes in the media hope for an officer involved shooting so they can play their crying towel bullshit game.

Any 1st or 18th District copper who sees any one of these Media assholes as much as genuflect at a stop sign should write them. They are going to slam us no matter what let’s give it back to them a little. Legally of course - sandbagging them would not serve the purpose. But if they are wrong they are wrong. NAIL EM.
