WGN Humor

We don't have a picture of it. We don't know if the video exists anywhere but the WGN archives. We don't know if anyone may have TIVO-ed it, but the 9 O'Clock news had two great bits on sports tonight.

First up was a preview clip for the White Sox Spring Training updates:
  • A Whiff of Colon
And then the actual segment clip was entitled:
  • Irritable Colon
We know how the nameis pronounced, but the visual was hilarious. Nice job to the guys in the control booth. And speaking of baseball, what are the Chicago chances this year?

If Colon and Contreras are as far ahead of schedule as the Sox are saying, and they can stay healthy, then hello six-man rotation. Don't worry about the offense.
We will win with pitching just like in 2005.

Well the Sux are gonna stick there heads in there Colon and finish 3rd...Maybe.....
As for Chicago's Team, This might be the year we finally finish as World Champs and give the entire City something to cheer about. Not just the two blocks around The Smell, I mean The Cell.

As usual Sox went cheap. When the economy was strong 10,000 fans tops! Now that the economy is in the abyss, you could put it on the board...yes. Half as many. Sox will always be #2 in the city.

Somebody needs to tell me something.... how is it that the Cubs can have an excellent season, but choke playoff time? At least the SOX beat 1 game against the Rays... Should the Rays give the Cubs a lesson in being HUNGRY enough? They went from worst to World Series. Are the Cubs so lax that their owner is still going to make money win or lose because of the 'partying' mentality? They are not mentality hungry enough? I see why the guys in Chicago taught ne to be a SOX fan when I moved here... GO SOX! (a girl who talks sports!)

Sox 84-76, finish strong and look good for 2010

Cubs 0-162, 162-0, it doesn't matter, the end result will be the same, 102 years of losing

Just remeber cub fans, the sox have won two world series and thrown one since the last win by the cubs!

Speaking of wacky sportscasts, sometime over the weekend Dan Jiggets of channnel 32 was reporting on girl's basketball, he first called the team the Lady Knights and then called them the Dykes. I replayed it a few times to see if I heard it correctly, I should have saved it, but I have no way to transfer to another media , so I just let it go.

The Cubs should run through the NL Central with ease again this year. No one in that division is significantly better than they were last year. The Cubs are solid offensively. Pitching should be good enough. And they get another creampuff schedule like they had last year, they should make the playoffs. After that...??

The Sox: Who knows? Hopefully a little more diverse offense, some basepath speed and normal years from Konerko, Dye and AJ, with a surprise contribution by Anderson holding down centerfield and helping the 2 stone pillars in the corner OF spots, could win enough games to be in the hunt.

The rest of the division is nothing too great. The Twins always find a way to be competitive. May have to do it initially without Joe Mauer. The Tiggers are old, middle pitching is suspect and defense substandard.

Cleveland needs a recovery year from Hafner. KC is just not there yet, but could decide the division by being a spoiler. Remember 2005: The reason the Sox went to the playoffs was because on the last weekend of the season, KC knocked off Cleveland 3 times at Cleveland to let the Sox slip in. Sox still owe the Royals a few cases of that champagne.

Anything can happen...

The Cubs will win their division again but will choke in the playoffs as usual because they're the Cubs. They have a better all around team than the White Sox. The White Sox will finish 3rd in their division because they have too many rookies in the starting lineup, too many unknowns.

Sox has too many rookies/unknowns? Well, the Rays was the case and they went to worst to the Series.... So, I say the Sox have a better chance then those Cubs.(the girl who talk sports!)

Yeah the only problem with the White Sox is the rookies they have arn't even close to the talent the Rays had last year! The SOX are just too cheap, they won't spend any money. That's why they won't finish any higher than 3rd!!!! GO CUBS GO!!
