Legitimate Question
A 14-year-old Hazel Crest boy shot Friday night in the Morgan Park neighborhood became the 28th Chicago Public Schools student killed this school year.
Witnesses said Gregory Robinson, a freshman at Simeon Career Academy, died shielding two younger children from bullets fired at the car they rode in.
He may have indeed died a hero, protecting others. But a suburban Hazel Crest resident going to a Chicago Public School? Might this be looked at instead of clouding the entire issue as Shortshanks, Jackson and an entire slew of others are beginning to do?

All the news stations last night mentioned "Chicago's gun problem" when reporting this case. It was as if they all received the same script. What about reporting the fact that 2/3s of this city is roamed by savage predators who no longer fear the police. There are no consequences for predators in Illinois and they know it.
Is there going to be a front page story every time a CPS student gets killed? It's going to start to wear on people until there is a public outcry that the police "do something". Then the mayor will tell the supt "do something!" Followed by some lame new policies/details.
Oh come on...are the suburban public schools that much worse that people would actually scheme to send their kids to CPS? That's pretty hard to believe.

That is why so many south suburban kids go to city schools. Their family structure is so completely dissolved that they really don't live anywhere. They just stay places.

It seems that the common denominator in all these shootings is the CPS. You do not hear of any other schools having people shot. How does that all fit together? Do any parents have any idea what their kids do or who they roll with?

This happens all the time. Morgan Park H.S. is a nationally ranked school but most from the neighborhood cant use it because of all the kids coming from the south suburbs. I've contacted my state Rep. Monique Davis several times and this dumb ass actually supports this. A school that is suppose to have 1200 kids has 1800. Everyday you see them coming off I-57.

Not defending but if the city stopped the SS Parade they would have to stop all the other ethnic parades. Trust me, This BS happens at all the parades. I have worked many of them over the years. The only difference is the skin color and race.

At Washington Grade School & Washington H.S. (south east side) there are many kids from Indiana who are driven over by their parents or grandparents. Just look for the Indiana Plates. Even some of the teaching staff live in Indiana.
And what does CPS do, NOTHING!

It is absolutely ridiculous that CPS doesnt take a proactive approach towards the kids not residing in the city but attending city schools. If the IG's office is told about it they investigate, kick the kid out if warranted and send the parents a bill, but nothing proactive. I am sure they could raise a lot of money if they went after the suburban kids going to city schools. I know a couple I am going to drop a dime on, oh well.

There are a lot of valid and legitimate questions on here about residency, father being a gang leader, etc. BUT this is a 14yr old who thought of others before himself, I think most of you, including SCC missed the big picture on this story. If this is the kind of kid coming in , I say send more and ship some of the useless wastes of space out.
At least in Mt Greenwood, the school was proactive in attempting to weed out non-residents. From as simple as looking for city stickers when kids were dropped off to sending out letters to parents looking for those who do not belong. I'm sure there are still some left, but at least they are trying and it is appreciated.
