How About the Enforcement?
We're sure Ed Burke has a job all lined up for some connected individual:

Ald. Ed Burke (14th) is pushing a mandatory pet spay-and-neuter ordinance. Last week, he said he had the votes to push the measure through the City Council. On Thursday, however, Burke put off a vote after a committee hearing where several aldermen opposed the idea.
All Ed Burke is creating will be a new disrespect for the laws that already exist. The puppy-mills and sub-humans who breed dogs to fight won't be spaying and neutering any of their animals. Their animals were never licensed in the first place, so we imagine they won't be registered now. Responsible citizens who don't appreciate this much government interference in the status of their dog's testicles will just stop registering their animals, denying the city another revenue stream.

Every law that the city passes regarding animals only effects the good law abiding tax paying citizens. Burke was on WLS AM the other day and actually said that when the Police approach a gangbanger with a dog, the Police can investigate the dogs status during the field interview.

I do agree that the enormous number of unwanted dogs and cats is a problem, not just in Chicago but all over. Millions of homeless dogs are euthanized every year, because people don't spay and neuter the pets they have. But I also agree that we should enforce the rules already on the books, particularly on the south and west side where the vast majority of the dog fighting and animal cruelty cases happen to be. And then of course sit back and watch the SAO and courts cut 'em loose.
Okay, I actually supported that foie gras ordinance. How many of you ever ate that shit to begin with? It means "fatty liver" and that's all it is. And it gets that way through some really insane cruelty to the geese. I'm not a vegetarian, but for the love of God, I won't go out of my way to eat something that people caused to suffer such inhumane treatment unnecessarily. Go ahead and laugh, but real men don't hurt animals just because they can.

I would agree with this proposal but only with the added requirement that those voting for it and their families also undergo sterilization so as not to further pollute the gene pool.

Ok, I need to make an argument here. I don't see the spay/neuter law being a problem. First of all, how many of us have gone after citizens...shithead or not...for not getting their dog it's rabies vaccination? The concept is the same with this new ordinance. If I go to a legit call I'm certainly not going to go snooping around the guy's dog's genitals. However, when you go to some nonsense call and you run into some jagoff gangbanger with a giant pitbull, we will have one more tool to go after him. No, the ones breeding and fighting dogs won't obey the ordinance. Just like they don't obey the laws about dog fighting. Does that mean the law shouldn't exist? If all the good citizens out there don't want to register their pets, who cares? Are you going to write them ANOVs anyway? Most normal people choose to have their dog spayed or neutered regardless because of the health and convenience benefits. It seems to me that we have more important things to be upset about than this ordinance.

I heard Burke on WLS radio last week pushing this nonsense. My ears perked up when he said they expected enforcement info to come from veternarians. That's brilliant. Why not term limits and an age ban! This old fuck has 8 million in campaign account all on a salary of $110,00 per year he saves really well! dam his drivers (8) make over $140K per year with the overtime more than him but he saves better! What is his secret?
I will not license my dog until they require and enforce sterilization for generational welfare recipients.

I have had over the years about 10 cats. They have all been spayed/neutered. It is better for the cats as they are less tense. I do it because I am responsible.

Dog owners should be held personally, criminally liable for any harm their dog does to a person -- just as they would be for having used any other weapon to attack the person. That animal is 100% of their responsibility 100% of the time. Train the god-damned thing so it's safe in the big city, or tie it up where it can't hurt anyone.
Other people's safety should not depend on the owner's not tripping and falling, or on a half-cent rivet in the leash snap not letting go...

Sure,they did it in France a while back,its called "the peoples razor" or "le rasoir de gens".
The mayor wants Chicago to be number one. We could use that number to our advantage by passing a few new city ordinances.
