Off Duty Cop Shot
Missed this one early and with all the Easter celebrations, didn't get it up until late:
An off-duty police officer was shot in what might have been an attempted carjacking in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, police said.
The incident occurred about 2:50 a.m. in the 8700 block of Halsted Street, News Affairs Officer John Henry said citing preliminary information.
An offender apparently approached and shot the 36-year-old male officer in the arm, which resulted in an exchange of gunfire between the officer and the offender, Henry said.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Officer.

Your right another reason to carry ALL THE TIME!!
One more reason why you should always carry an off duty piece...
Flood the Union meeting on April 21 st, even if we all have to stand outside. The FLOP and the City has to understand also that we are not stopping after one protest. Please try to make it to the meeting.. Be Safe..

Thoughts and prayers sent for a complete recovery for the officer.
Take care brother. Glad you're okay!
Recover quickly, we need more warriors out there like you Officer.
WOW!!!! Glad the Officer is OK!!! I carry all the time...can't believe the ones that don't!!!!!!!!!!! WHY????????????
Il say it again...choose that off- duty piece AND its ammo with great care. Find out at the range if that semi-auto will cycle when fired with one hand. Not all of them will. You never know how things will turn out with these brazen criminals these days.
OT:
J - Fraud on the noon news today stating that they are going to create ANOTHER MSF unit/team.
WTF!
Where are these officers coming from?
Are we going to rid the districts of beat cars inorder to man these "elite" units that are the pet projects of J =Fraud?
Where does this shit end?

unless you have a small auto in the carved out pages of that book like I did while attending HS on the westside.
Officer wishing you a speedy recovery. Glad to see your a wolf and not sheep, protect yourselfs and your family.
Auburn Gresham neighborhood?? NOT!! Try 22nd District 8749 S. Halsted to be exact!!! Off duty saved his wife's life---they tried to carjack her--he heard the commotion and announced his office and bad guy shot at him, striking him in the arm, the officer returned fire--unk. if he struck offender, offender fled--be careful boys and girls--and remember to always carry your gun with you---we have that right!!
Watch yourselves. It is fortunate that the officer was able to protect himself.
God bless the CPD and nobody else.
Weis knows that if there is to be any dent in violent crime this summer, he has to depend on an "elite force" to do it. He knows that the rank & file in the Districts have completely turned their backs on him, and the Detective Division, for the most part, has also.
Good luck, Weis. You've been a complete zero as a leader of our once proud Dept. so far, and as long as Daley deludes himself that you're "doing a great job," I see your pathetic stride here to continue unheeded...unless the public/citizens demand your ouster. They just might.

Don't put officer's addresses on the site.
I am not a police officer but I have a GREAT appreciation and respect for what you guys and gals do so please don't flame me for this question- I just want to know what the deal is... I know for a FACT that a tactical officer shot and killed an offender in the ICKES homes weekend before last. As a civilian, I would think with so many people that are against police officers these days, that a story like that would be splashed all over the news. My question is how often does this happen? How often are you guys placed in the position where you have to decide whether or not to end a life? Who decides whether or not the public finds out about it? This particular officer has not gone back to work yet from what I understand and is doing bad emotionally; what kind of support is there for him and will the department force an unstable guy back onto the street before he is mentally ready? Shoot- not to excuse the detective that allegedly killed the two guys the other day, but who WOULDN'T drink when neither the citizenry NOR his/her own department doesn't really seem to support you guys???
Awhile back, had arguement w/girlfriend...she left... I went out and got fucked-up drunk...walking home in snow storm..two guys come up to me and try to rob...one guy gaffs me in the face like im a fish
i had no firearm...other guy pistol whips me...they lost the fight...i lived only by sheer luck...i always carry now...even to take out the garbage...this happened in garfield/clearing on SW side ..home to the police...
