Callback Shorthanded?

Word is that a number of POWs whose cases have been resolved or who never had cases that went anywhere are being reinstated at a decent clip. At least six and maybe as many as a ten were sent to District Reinstatement this week alone.

So we have front offices, CAPS offices, desks and callback being emptied out. Is someone admitting that we're short on the street finally? Or are they expecting something bigger this summer?

My money is something bigger. Obama wants an internet czar. Looks like the assholes in Wahington are going to try to explain why our retirement accounts and pensions disappered because of an internet virus introduced by (you get to pick): China, North Korea, Iran, Al Quida, some little kid playing on dad's computer.

Get those coppers who have been at call-back for months even years, back on the street. On guy-Lullo just went back tot he streets after being in the penalty box for 4 frickin years! And they ask where is our manpower. You can thank your screwed up and often over-zealous investigators over at IAD. Yep, they sustain cases that are a joke and brought to them by drug-dealing slime. Doesnt anyone review these peoples cases?? I hear the new guy at IAd is a street copper by heart. If thats the case take a peek at some of these cases that have PO's sitting in limbo for a very long time. The cases that have 30 pending sustainments that should barely be reprimands. Clean your house Chief!
The FOP finally filed a grievance on behalf of all the POW's . Its about damn time. Signed:

If the department is looking for a ‘few good men’ [and women] able to walk, talk and are full duty, then why isn’t the schools staffed by ‘special employment officers’? The school has a large enough security staff to handle the school. CPD manpower is wasted in the schools. Even during summer school there 2 officers assigned to sit in the schools. And where are these officers? They sit and wait in an office out of view from the students and do nothing until the school security staff brings them an arrestee! School violence is NOT an issue if you have been paying attention. Nothing has happened IN the schools where the officers hide [sorry work]. All the trouble has been several blocks away or at night, which the officers being assigned at a school made no difference to the outcome of these events. Now is the perfect time since we do not have a completed contract yet, put it in, give us special in the schools. It is still cheaper for the city since they already pay my benefits. It works for CTA, movie details and the Obama detail! Being at the end of the school year there this is the time to figure the logistics for start of school year in September.
Since this school year is at an end can we count on the school officers to help out in the districts or are the chosen few still going to hide out this summer too? WHY? If anything NOW is the time to try out special employment in summer school, if and where it’s needed. Run the program as special employment, even if it’s one of the two officers assigned to the school is special it’s still a win for both the city and the district manpower reports!
TRY IT, I THINK YOU’LL LIKE IT.

Call back should be TEMPORARY (1-3 months or periods) like the DETAIL calls for!

Anything over that is ridiculous! IAD is just spinning its wheels or sitting on cases that are really NOT going anywhere.

Are they making mountains out of mole hills or procrastinating to please their bosses down there saying they got leads or WHAT?

SHIT OR GET OFF THE POT!!

In other words IF there is NO criminal allegations on the officer etc., or the officer has been criminally cleared then WHY is he/she down there more than 3 periods or there at all?

Big waste of man power, time , money JODY!

Most shit falls apart or NEVER really was anything but was made a big deal becasue it just SOUNDED bad or was reported by the liberal no balls or no clue MEDIA so Dept. knee jerk reaction as usual!

3 periods of investigative work SHOULD be enough for any evaluation period of any officer or any investigation otherwise what kind of investigators do we have there at IPRA/IAD if they keep putting shit on the back burner!

KIRBY and SKAHILL are gone time to clear up their shit they thought was important when impressing whoever and start over properly!

A matter of fact you don't need to "STRIP" for everything (SKAHILL).....You can detail a uniformed officer with NO CRIMINAL ALLEGATIONS down there that may still face dept. issues and keep manpower READY!

LEARN HOW TO RUN A UNIT OR DO THE PROPER JOB WHEN YOU ARE A COMMANDER!

You need to maintain morale even down at 376 where some people are trapped over bullshit!

Superintendent Weis should be commended for reinstating the unjustly punished at callback!

There are still many good working officers fighting to get back on the job, after being unjustly terminated by a corrupt police board.

There is no one factor, that adversely affects morale more profoundly, than an unjust disciplinary system. Most coppers love to work and do their jobs, they will NEVER do so, when they see their coworkers tossed to the wolves on trumped up charges.

Without a fair and impartial system in place, coppers do NOT feel safe doing their jobs!

J-Fed has been hitting grand slams lately, keep it up Sir!

All smoke and mirrors!

Remember folks, the last Police Officer killed in the line of duty last year was in the 019 District! A supposedly quiet district!

We are still short handed on the watches in 019 District especially on the 2nd watch, because these people supposedly sent back to the streets in 019 District, were instead added to an extra "Burglary mission car" and or hidden in other spots and then held down in the station on "reports"! What the fuck kind of help is that for us beat officers?!

Give me a break, these morons could NOT find a burglar if the offender had the stolen proceeds on their persons!

Mean while were short handed on the watch with NO Rapid cars that are manned to help out the beat guys, especially on festival weekends!

"Beat guys" are the front line workers who get most of the shitty calls via dispatch more than any other units in the field!

Anyone who has been the police would know that, no matter what District your in!

Let's see 019 District had Wrigley Field ball games with usually 40,000 idiot Cubs fans, Belmont/Sheffield Fest in which traffic was just insane, bars full of drunken yuppie assholes and other neighborhood activities all the while we hope and pray we don't need a back up out here!

I'm sure it is similar in most Districts citywide but I can actually speak for 019 District from experience!

If we are short handed in 019 District! I can't even imagine how it is in faster parts of the city!

Dugan you are an ass for even buying this smoke and mirrors!

Just hire some more Police Officers citywide for the streets! We all NEED the backup and plain help and NOT all of these ghost units and ghost payrollars!

I'm retired so I have no personal interest in the school unit but I can tell you younger PO's that for years we hollered and yelled for some kind of unit to handle the schools. They were a constant drain on district manpower and when they finally assigned each school a pr of cops, it was heaven. I don't care where they sit or whatever. They still write all the paper and handle the arrests. They also managed dismissals and crossings.

I guess when someone's score is negative twenty, an improvement of ten points or so looks like heroism. He's still way below zero. He's gone into such a deep hole this past year and a half, he'll never climb out of it.

Not exactly true, Officer Nathaniel Taylor Jr. of Narcotics was killed in the line of duty on Sep 28, 2008.
