You cannot compare the two, it's not the same. In major metropolitan areas such as Chicago and New York population density has much to do with crime. If officer response is quicker it will lead to a reduction in crime. your comparison of a hick town with no on duty officer cannot be compared with big cities.

With Doty putting in his papers this should change 021. Then next get rid of the mopes that he brought with him from 006. Tact in 021 is now a disgrace last in the city in arrests except DOPW. Sgts that will screw you in a minute send them back to 006 also with the LT. 021 needs to be cleaned up. I got out of there several periods ago and work in a district where I respect the bosses and officers and they respect me.

J-Fed was on the radio today saying that morale is high because he was at St. Jude's and a lot of cops marched. This coming from the guy that said morale is high because we respond to 10-1's. How dumb does he think we are? I've heard Jody talk and he appears educated. But, has he any pride? He just repeats what police-hater Daley says to the media. My god Jody, have some backbone.
We march at St. Jude's because of respect. Respect for those who have died wearing the uniform. Respect for those families who have lost a loved one doing what we swore to do: protecting the citizens of this city from garbage. At the end of the march, families line up who have lost someone in the line of duty. Citizens line up to silently thank us. We don't march for morale and the CPD will damn never march for a Mayor or superintendant. We march for those people who will never see their father/mother/child/husband/wife come walking through the door of their home again. We march to honor those who will never hold their loved one in their arms again. It has nothing to do with morale Jody, it has to do with respect, something which our mayor will never have for us. And in the case of 10-1's, we respond so we don't have to etch another name on the memorial wall in which we march in front of at St. Jude's. Of course I would not expect you to know this Jody. You speak for our mayor who might be shocked to learn that there is a Police Memorial by Soldier Field since he never seems to have the time to show up at St. Jude's. We do these things, not for morale, but because at the end of the day, we want to go home to our loved ones, and, when the occassion arises, honor those who will never have the opportunity to go home again to their loved ones. there is a reason...as we all know, that there are 30 vacancies. here is one of the many reasons morale is low. she will stay as bass in 003 because of who is pushing to have her in there.... aldermen, reverends, preachers etc... she has no buisness having a gold star. very incompetent. a waste of a spot for a potential good boss.
Worked there for 5 years. Was best kept secret on the south side. CMDR EB and SGT JS left and it sucked ever since. Hopefully downtown will realize the burger mistake!

kudos and salutations to the 008th District officers for the arrest of the laundry shop robber. Dude walks into a cleaner with a dry wall hand saw ( plaster board saw for those from Minnesota). Cuts up the owner and gets cash. An off duty 009th District officer calls 911 with a vehicle description. 008 Officers are on it like flies to shi'ite. See the car, give sase and offender goes down a dead end alley, bails out. Perimeter set and offender apprehended. Proceeds and weapon recovered. Follow up reveals offender did another robbery in 001. Considering how busy 008 is, these Officers and Sergeant did an outstanding job. Thanks from an Area 1 dick.

NW Side man charged with impersonating cop
CHICAGO -- Battery and police impersonation charges have been approved against a man accused of claiming he was a Chicago Police officer and assaulting a neighbor Friday night on the Northwest Side.
The man was arrested at 4033 N. Marmora Ave. at about 9 p.m., according to Jefferson Park District police.
He got into an argument with a neighbor two houses down from his home and allegedly assaulted the neighbor. He also threatened the neighbor and told him that he was a Chicago Police officer and worked in the Jefferson Park District, police said.
The man was wearing a Chicago Police t-shirt, which featured a police insignia, at the time of the incident.
He was charged early Saturday with one count each of simple battery and cop impersonation, according to police

He saw two city doctors that told him he needed surgery in order to return to work 100%. The city farms out the claim to an outside agency Coventry, which promptly denies the claim. The surgery nazi, "No surgery for you!" Pay for it yourself!
The firemen are rightfully going crazy about this.
Apparently the city isnt going to be satisfied until they piss of every city worker.

Gold Coast restaurant hit by gunfire

Shots rang out late Friday in front of a Gold Coast restaurant and game venue, and although the building suffered some damage, no one was injured and the business was able to remain open.
An unidentified white car drove by Dave & Buster's at 1030 N. Clark St. about 9:40 p.m. and someone from the car fired multiple shots into a window in the building, police said. Investigators could not immediately say how many shots were fired.
No one was injured as a result of the shooting, and only a window was broken, police said. There was no motive known and police did not know if the restaurant had been targeted.
A Dave & Buster's manager who declined to give his name said the location will remain open as normal until 1 a.m. and there was no damage that prevents patrons from entering the property.
Near North District police responded to the incident and are investigating, police said.
2 Lt's left 021 because they were northsiders, 1 left because of CW. Please stop picking on 021 we are ok here, anyone who is not can leave anytime. There are openings everywhere each month but you don't see anyone leaving. How much contact does the average P.O. have with the W/C or Commander in any district anyway? The 4 Lt's (That’s right, four!) leaving 021 had little to do with 021's Management problem. 2 went north, closer to home. 1 Lt on days… well, would you want to work for Capt White? Enough said about that. The 1st one to leave was part of the problem, seems that "this little piggy squealed all the way home", because he didn’t make Captain! He’s at the academy, where he can impress some clueless recruit with his bullshit.
That has nothing to do with the District itself, it has to do with the actual number assigned and detailed out. The DS is cleaning up details and assignments. Over the past 6 months those that were detailed from 003's assignment have now been released. When the department does things like this, perception is greater than reality. Jfed and crew do things like this on purpose when it is convenient for them. I am sure they will try and use this as one more excuse to move her.

Re 008th dist Robbery.... Anyone know how many 861, 862, 863, 806 or any "special" teams were out there and part of arresting the offender? Hmmmm.
My issue is simply this with Superintendent Weis, How can he continually play musical chairs with Exempts and Supervisors,degrade those in charge and expect anything to get better? Now, if the Mayor judged him in the same way that he and his incompetent staff judges exempt and supervisory personnel ( the people he listens too Mike Masters, Beatrice Cuello, Ted O'Keefe, Sgt. Hamilton, his idiot drivers) based on those same standards, he would have been removed after his first month here in Chicago. Each month after that, the Mayor has been given more and more specific ammunition to dismiss him. The officers, the community, the clergy, the politicians and especially the retired and previous leaders of our department have all openly voiced specifics relative to his incompetence and just plain old lack of experience. He is completely arrogant and takes absolutely everything personal. The truth is that as long as he is here, things will continually get worst. Morale is at the lowest that I have ever seen in my 27 years. Exempts are afraid to make decisions out of the norm, or to disagree with the direction he has chosen for this department. How can they lead when they are in constant fear? Any deviation from his norm also reflects them as being labeled not a team player and then targeted for removal. The people who is protecting this city have unanimously said the same thing, as long as he is here, things will continually get worst.

Yes we do. Jfed keeps bullshitting us and the aldermen. How come I have not seen the same watch commander in over 8 months here on the 2nd watch? Why do we have the most disgruntled sergeants in the city who fuck with us daily? How come we only have 3 descent cars? Why can't I work my Rapid car because we don't have any fucking cars and we don't have enough police offices. I am stuck on a beat car at least 4 days out of the week.
Look how many officers went to gangs, TRU and MSF from 003. Where the fuck are we going to get 39 police officers to bid any fucking place?

Where can anyone get 30 police officers? Jfed has 100's of officers assigned to Gangs - the most bullshit unit of CPD, MSF and TRU. All units are manned, they have all the staff they need and supervisors, and have the cars, radios and pdt's to go with them!

The concept of working for a boss who is respected and gives respect in return is merely a long-lost memory to me.
Field group A in the D-unit is filled with about 70% Sgts and above who haven't a clue. No body should ever be a supervisor in an investigative unit who was not a Det at one time. Not to suggest that they need to have been a great or even a good detective, just somebody that knows what needs to be done.
Most of the Sgts in CID units watch TV all night, sell real estate or run their private security companies on company time with the company ride.
Too busy to read reports or go to a crime scene.
No matter, the micro- manager LT will read them all and second guess the investigation months later.
Unless the Chief comes to visit, then drop every thing to shine his shoes.

Actually 021 Tact has 9 DOPW arrests year to date. But they are 500% up in search warrants some were even done in 007 and 003. So get your facts right before you make a fool out of yourself. The sgt. or Lt that dumped you out of tact did the right thing. Pull up the numbers 021 is not last in the city I believe it is 016. They were before Doty and his people got ther that's why they won't get rid of them so grow up.

This is why this Department is so fucked up: (1) We have an absolutely clueless Superintendent telling everyone in the City that morale is great, when if he took his head out his ass he would see it is in the shitter.
(2) People like Crump-Hale and a host of other never-been-the-police political hacks are in supervisory positions in this department from the rank of sergeant to superintendent.
(3) The department will now try to enforce their double standard of performance reviewing officers. Who reviews people like Crump-Hale or Cmdr Doty? Whoever is responsible for evaluating these fools has failed miserably and has sent out a terrible message to the men and women of the CPD.
(4) There are two sets of rules: Coppers with clout from the 11th and 19th wards or backing from the race baiting clergy and community activists like Beale and Meeks get away with any little thing they want and then there are the rest of us: JPUD wants zero tolerence; court infractions, uniform infractios, SPAR, SPAR, SPAR!!!
Anyone who is doing anything but the very bare minimum these days is soft. I used to love to bust my ass everyday but once this guy came in and pretended like he cared and was going to correct the wrongs on the department and just ended up lying to us all, I said fuck it.
JPUD is right about one thing, our morale shouldn't be low, where else can we get paid to do absolutely nothing all day and get paid for it? I hope this department isn't beyond saving because I still have plenty of years to go.

If shortshanks is going to keep promoting mopes, he needs to assign a "ghost" staff to assist him/her.
It's painfully obvious that the Burger Queen is operating alone and without a clue as to how to command.
I wonder if she feels like a thief when she cashes/deposits her check.???????????

i actually just looked it up and your numbers for the year really dont rock... however, i was completly suprised.. actually dumbfounded to see that 008 tact is first in the city for arrests.. and not for dopw.. even bigger suprise!!!! i live in 008 and dont see them much and all i hear on this blog is that they are all do nothing dogs... i guess the numbers dont lie... or do they???
I work the mids in 003, and Capt. Raymond is just as good of a boss as any other Lt. or Capt. in 003. I don't think that what happened with that imposter on 3rd watch here a while back would have happened at all on 1st watch here.
We don't see the Cmdr often on this watch, so I can't honestly make a beef about her, but 1st watch in 003 is a pretty cool place to work.
Well, I'd like to meet the Captain/Commander that signed off on 30 par forms for people requesting to leave the 003 dist last period.

Oh yes they were. They shorted districts by using the Detailed Out page of the monthly worksheets. For instance, in 018 10 years ago, the Detailed Out page had over 50 officers on it. That is 50 officers from 018's budgeted authorized strength Detailed Out, not there available to work in 018. On paper they were near strength but in actuality they were short over 50 officers. Many of the detailed out have not been seen in years. Some "details" lasted for years and years.
Other District's in Area Three are at least 17% below authorized strength. Must be the same or greater for other districts in the city.
As for publishing 30 vacancies, the Department could now, if they want, fill those vacancies by reverse seniority from other districts by reverse seniority. Lowest officer could be assigned to 003 come change day. Assigned, not detailed.

Now that is a ringing endorsement of a CPD boss, that they are "not as bad as people think," that is about the best thing that can be said for many bosses.

FYI, not sticking up for the "Queen," but it is a typo, it's 3 openings, not 30. We called personnel to verify. It was fun for a thread though.

Not the best in the city but, it is a great place to work and our tact team is not a joke they are really pretty good and do help us out on the watch all the time.

Weiss avoided this incident and never made a comment. She broke a federal law yet remains as commander. Weiss takes care of his exempts. As he should, qualified or not.
021, 003. and now 004 these are hoffible district to be in because of bad, bad bosses. Jody, or should I say please, Mr. Mayor, help us out on the south side. There is really no place to play police anymore with these morons, including Lt. Moran!

Add 004 to that list of 003,013, and 020 as districts with bad commanders. pretty soon there wont be anyone in these districts but PPOs and new sgts and lts. the amazing list of morons they pick for commanders is unbelieveable.

You are such a fucking idiot. How does the commander of the district decide or have any input into how many PPO's are in a district? Moron, training Districts have to receive PPO's. Now, why don't you take the time to see how many of them get to stay in the Districts where they train? If 20 went, maybe 1 and that is a maybe. Before you say unitelligent baseless shit, you should take the time and make sure you know what you are talking about first.
Now, I don't like some of the things I have heard about 003, but come on. No matter who the Commander is, it is and always will be a dumping ground. All the supervisors that are sent are either cloutless or fucked up. 004, 005 and 006 have the same issue, the only difference is the old timers work in 004 because it is close to home. No matter who the Commander is, that place is fucked up also. How can you lead the city in homicides, your Commander gets promoted and even less real consistent resources are given to that district or any of the other Area Two districts. This asshole Dana Alexander lead the worst district in the city for 4 years and he STILL has not done anything to compelment the efforts of the Commanders in Area 2. He works against all of them. You would think having come from the bottom of the barrell, he would lead by example, fight for the area and move along. He does nothing but dog everyone and allow his staff esepcially Carla and now the new incompetent idiot he brought to his office from 004, a district that needs all the officers they can get, that is not light duty, though he keeps telling our district the inside people have to be light duty, he allows them to dog the office staff and he spends more time taking the Lieutenants and Commanders ideas and passing them off as his. He did everythng he could to fuck over Lt. Devereaux and his people as they were tranisitoning out, and no one said a word. Working in any District in Area 2 is fucked up. Jfed, you should never allow an Exempt to Supervise the area they came from if they have a personality like his and is as petty as he is. This practice has been disasterous citywide!

004's management belongs there with 003.

Weis was on the platform along with the chief of the Schaumburg PD and head of the IL State Police. They didn't give speeches either. They were there as the official representatives of the departments that lost officers in the last year. (3 from CPD, 1 from Schaumburg and 1 from a state/FBI task force) If any other municipality would have suffered a loss their chief would have been up there as well.
Can't you find something else to whine about instead of attempting to cast a shadow over our purpose for being in Springfield in the first place? I didn't notice any of the families of the officers whose memory we were there to honor seeming to care about where anyone sat or stood. Why should you?

Tom Dart may not be someone we want as mayor but the key is this: get someone other than Daley elected, deal with 4 years of someone other than shortshanks and you finally break his grip. That's the only way to open up the field of viable candidates. 4 years is a small sacrifice to make to finally get Daley out.

Morale is great, just ask any officer in 003. Be sure to ask why there are 30 posted vacancies in that district. This is something I have NEVER seen in over 29 years with this police department. Ask Jody Weis about morals in 003 and across the department.
This morning an officer with a year and a half on the job, 18 months, said all that matters is the 1st and 16th! 18 months with that attitude! Sure, morale is great. If you make $310,000 a year morala is super high.

With Doty putting in his papers this should change 021. Then next get rid of the mopes that he brought with him from 006. Tact in 021 is now a disgrace last in the city in arrests except DOPW. Sgts that will screw you in a minute send them back to 006 also with the LT. 021 needs to be cleaned up. I got out of there several periods ago and work in a district where I respect the bosses and officers and they respect me.

Actually 021 Tact has 9 DOPW arrests year to date. But they are 500% up in search warrants some were even done in 007 and 003. So get your facts right before you make a fool out of yourself. The sgt. or Lt that dumped you out of tact did the right thing. Pull up the numbers 021 is not last in the city I believe it is 016. They were before Doty and his people got ther that's why they won't get rid of them so grow up.
