I just read the Bill of Indictment of the Will Co. Grand Jury v. Drew Peterson for the murder of his third wife. (See Paul Huebl www.crimefile.com).
If Peterson did actually murder Kathleen Savio, I believe he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Even if one were to concede that Peterson had (a)the MEANS, (b) the MOTIVE and (c) the OPPORTUNITY, this falls pathetically short of PROVING his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
It's been said that a prosecutor could get a Grand Jury to "indict a ham sandwich". If S/A Glascow is merely succumbing to media pressure to put a case on Peterson without the evidence, shame on him.

I am not a police officer. I am writing to inquire as to why you believe that there was such an outpouring of support for Officers such as Officer Mette and why there hasn't been such a huge show of support for Officer Gallegos? I do not know Gallegos personally. However, we come from the same neighborhood and have to experience the same bullshit. Yes, to all the police officers who would say that we should have moved a long time ago- I hear you. If a certain place is the only home that you have known your whole life- why should you have to move? I understand their point of view but Pilsen is home. Unfortunately, I feel that there are a lot of behind-the-scenes politics that keep us from getting the proper response and services. This land is very valuable, being so close to downtown. I would think that our
pro-tempore/alderman Mr. Solis would have been able to do something by now. Also, I understand that morale is down and believe me- I would give you a raise- if it was up to me. Also, I point out that a lot of residents in Pilsen have very blind eyes and extremely deaf ears. I totally blame the parents for the bullshit. The other problem is that there is so much transition and multi-units that one can never get a grasp on knowing your neighbors. The landlords are jags for renting to scum for a quick buck!
However, my point is that Officer Gallegos was not a case where a huge crowd supported him and demanded for our "officials" to intervene.

I called the Archdiocese three times and they continue to transfer me to voicemail the minute I say the word Pfleger. I say we cram the voicemail box until the cardinal gets the point that this guy in no way represents the Catholic Church. The number is 312-534-8200.

According to what I understand, each Bishop makes the determination of how flags are flown in the diocese parishes, therefore, am I safe to assume that Cardinal George has determined that the "distressed signal" flag at St. Sabina is an appropriate political statement and symbol for the parish's Pastor to make.
My second question is rather simple. I could not find any department or agency of the Archdiocese that deals directly with veteran's or active military Catholics or their families. Does such a thing exist ? You can find the email address and phone numbers for the ArchDi on their website.
Also if you are a member of a parish, call your priest, express your displeasure, then realize that 90% of priest in the ArchDi support Pfleger and the "sanctuary" movement.

I called the Archdiosese today.
I spoke with a very lovely lady that said she was flooded with calls from pissed off parishoners just like me. I believe that she agrees with me, but she is forbidden from offering her opinion.
Will it do any good? I don't know. Probably not. But I said my piece, and that's that.
I do not feel good about this call. My family has well over a century of participation, active participation in the church.
My grandfather (a printer by trade) used to print the weekly missels and bulletins for St. Pascal... through WWII up to the early 60's for FREE on a platen press in his basement. The church never paid for a single sheet of paper for the weekly bulletins.
His father bought a large number of graves at St. Adalberts when they opened the cemetary and consecrated the land (they needed money badly to offset the initial cash outlay for the property in the beginning. Sadly most of our plots are full.
My Dad was a disabled WWII veteran who prayed the rosary his whole life. He attributed his faith in God for what restoral of his body he was granted.
I have done everything in my power to be a good catholic, a good christian. To make that call to complain about a man of the cloth is out of charactor for me.
I never complained about the church, or made inappropriate remarks... ever. If the nuns at Immaculate Conception beat me (which they did, and frankly I think I got off lightly) and I ever told my Dad; he'd beat me harder.
This Father Phleger just bewilders me. Our church can practice religion in a free state in an unincumbered manner, and he has the GALL to fly our nation's flag upside down?

The parishoners of St. Bede the Venerable, at 83rd and Kostner (Where Nate Taylors' funeral mass was) are suffering the same PHLatulance with Pastor Bill Stenzl. It turns out he was a classmate of Phflegers, and there must have ben something in the water.
At last weeks 1st communion, he held mass in both English and Spanish simultaniously. He has felt the breeze in the air and that hot gust is the constant flow of Mexicans attending that church. They account for less than 1/5th the $ offerings yet are the sqeaky wheel.
When Stenzl was confronted by parents with requests to have the mass in English, as the children are taught in English, he blew a gasket, said it's his way or the highway, and stormed out of each meeting lying that he had other things to attend to.
When certain parents caught him in the lie and pointed their finger at him demanding he hold to his promisses, he huffed, puffed, and yelled that he was being threatened. Sacrilage (sic) he yelled, as the parents demanded him to resign.
Well, along come communion, and (4) 8th District cars are assigned to sit in the area of the church as this pastor Stenzl, the former classmate of PHfleger, had to flex some muscle should parents of the communicants form an uprising.
Lovely it was as many English spewaking parents exited and shook his hand wispering "when are you leaving the parish"? Oh did his face get red.
STENZL is the Phfleger of St. Bede's. The two of them and George can take a hike to Mundeline and retire !

I sent this message to Cardinal George about Pfleger:
As a lifelong member of the Catholic Church of Chicago, I have been repeatedly angered by the antics and the behavior of Father Pfleger. He is without a doubt, the most embarrassing figure, ever, to represent the Catholic Church of Chicago. Can we even call him a Catholic? His "services" at St. Sabina Church, barely resemble any mass that I have ever attended, in the last 35 years. Pfleger, portrays himself as a social advocate for the wrongs, affecting the membership of St. Sabina's Church. This would be an admirable cause and vocation, if it was done with humility and respect. But regrettably, Pfleger chooses the spotlight of the media, to embarrass himself and the Catholic Church, to bring attention to a serious issue. There are better ways to draw attention to a problem. It appears, when Pfleger needs his narcissistic injection, he pops up in the media, selfishly, to energize his ego and remind the public he is still around. The way he bullied the Catholic Church leadership, to stay at St. Sabina's, a few years back, was shocking. My impression, along with many other Catholics, was Cardinal George buckled under the media pressure, to let Pfleger stay at St. Sabina's. Obviously, Pfleger believes he can operate as a "rebel" priest, without fear or punishment from the Catholic Church, no matter how pathetic his behavior. Is there a code of conduct for priests? As a Catholic, I am guided by a set of rules, dictated by church doctrine. What type of message does this lack of action send to the rest of the congregation? Answer: Pfleger can function as he wishes, without guidance, rules or fear of punishment, while the rest of the congregation, is held to a higher standard. We are told at homilies, to act in a Christian manner, avoid narcissism, self promotion and an inflated ego, be humble, otherwise it is a sin, punishable by a trip to the confessional. I was told, God will know your good deeds, and you will be rewarded in heaven on Judgment Day, there is no need to brag and draw attention to yourself. If I remember right, in the Gospels, doesn't Jesus chastise a few hypocrites, who publicly flail or punish their bodies, to draw attention to themselves, demonstrating how "holy" and "chaste" they were? Double standard? Humility teachings and training, Did Pfleger miss this class at the seminary?
I am sorry to rant so long about Pfleger, but his latest antic, HANGING THE AMERICAN FLAG UPSIDE DOWN, was the back breaker for me, generating this email to the Archdiocese of Chicago. My buddy was raised in Sabina's in the '60's. He was floored by the behavior in the rectory. The seller priest taught at Quigley South!

I believe it's true. I also had some friends on the north side working on a search warrant at the same time...both groups didn't know one another. I'll ask them to comment on this Blog!
