Memorial Month Events Continue

  • Chicago Police gathered Tuesday at the Fraternal Order of Police headquarters on West Washington to formally and permanently mark the names of three officers to die in the line of duty.

“When we look at that wall they come back to us,’’ Belmont District Cmdr. John Kenny said of the memorial wall. “That’s why we are here today. Remembering the people that made us proud. Go forward and make them proud.’’

The wall, outside the FOP headquarters, now contains the names Richard M. Francis, Nathaniel Taylor Jr. and Joseph M. Airhart, Jr.

And to make up for the complete lack of coverage for the past week, they include this:
  • The FOP service came amid several celebrations during Police Memorial Month, observed in May. The fifth annual Run to Remember was held over the weekend. Last Thursday, the Chicago Police Honor Guard posted a guard for 24 hours at the lakefront Gold Star Families Memorial and Park.
But no mention of the St. Jude's March.

Actually WGN Radio had a short story on the March Sunday Evening.
Remember King Ricardo runs it, so perhaps he put the Kabosh? We are in Contract talks you know?

Nor will there be any mention of the St. Jude's march. Why would you want to remind people of the sacrifices the police make when you're trying to fuck them out of a contract?

Oh, yeah. Lest I forget, fuck Daley.

OLD SIX SHOOTER:

A fantasitc job by a former Commander who gave a short speech continuosly stating the point that not everyone deserves the right to wear the uniform, and that the officers who have died have given that right to any and all p.o.'s who work the street every single day. Well done, J-Fed wasn't there, but we all knew what you were talking about.

From: The FOP Update page:

PILOT WORK SCHEDULE SURVEY 05/04/09

The pilot work schedules have been in effect since the beginning of 2009. The officers who have worked these schedules should certainly have an opinion regarding them. Officers who have not had the opportunity to work them have more than likely spoken with officers who have and have opinions of their own.

This survey is conducted by the FOP. The overall results of this survey will be shared with the Department should the Department act unreasonably by attempting to eliminate any or all of these pilot schedules. Any private information will be kept within the Lodge. The survey may be completed anonymously. All members are urged to take a moment to complete this important survey.

Your participation cannot be over-emphasized.

On May 31, SCC had a post with a letter to Weis about having the parade on Michigan Ave. the post says:
"The letter from Lt. Ziegenhorn was sent to the Superintendent on 21 May 2008. The Superintendent has responded since then to her that he is working to ensure that the St. Judes March will be held next year back on Michigan Ave. where it belongs."

Whatever happened with that?

my fellow officers-- i recently read father nangle's article on page 6 of the fop bulletin. it is a must read for all officers on this job. the good father is well versed on the mechanics of the department and is like an encyclopedia to past events on this job. what really grabbed my attention was #4 " i wonder what it feels like in the center of the police soul to lay down on the job" --- " i didn't feel good about it at all, i felt cheap"--- man you hit the nail on the head. i fight this demon everyday-- a veteran cop who has ceased to be the police because of many factors-- the foremost being self preservation. the hardest thing in the world to do is look the other way when you see something is amiss. yeah, i feel "cheap" but i will see my pension and avoid going to prison.

At the FOP Memorial Tues.
Beautiful hearat-grabbing speech by the Gold Star Family President (sister of slain officer Marquez). The officer who sang the National Anthem was absolutely fantastic and will sing in DC. No sightings of Jfed or shortshanks.

God bless our fallen officers.

I salute our Honor Guard as well. They are the 'quiet giants' of the CPD.
They are professional in every respect. I'm only sorry to say that
they have been too active this year, "Honoring Our Fallen" for Rick Francis, Nate Taylor and Joe Airhart.
Their professional touch and attention to duty truly honors these members that made the "Ultimate Sacrifice."
Thank You, one and all!

i was there for the event at the fop hall and saw the speech. I have never heard of the former commander that gave the speech but after the speech all of the little kiss asses to weis went and hid in the corner...im sure saying how it was such a slap in the face to j-fed. it was a really good speech and it did make me think a little about wearing the uniform and what it really means... also, it completly had a underlying message about how j-fed did not earn the right to wear the uniform. he seems like a pretty good guy, too bad there arent commanders with those kinds of balls on the job today... well i guess he dosent give a sh*t, hes retired!.. now thats a true KMA.

Correct not everyone deserves the right to wear the uniform. I seen several coppers wearing some really peculiar combinations of the dress uniform. The one day of the year that means something these jerks show up looking like Bozo the clown, real class. Bring back the old days when we had supervisors with balls.

As I type this I watch FOX news reporting that the "Great One" Obama, has proposed his budget cuts for 2010. This includes a timely slap in the face of Law Enforcement as he suggests a 50% decrease (110mil. to 61 mil.)in the federally funded program designed to assist family members of Officers killed in the line of duty. Your timing is impeccable! Just as all of us in Law Enforcement prepare to participate in Law Enforcement Memorial events. You should be ashamed obama. I will move on.

Let me extend my sympathies to the families of Rick Francis, Nate Taylor and Joe Airhart.I was in Springfield yesterday and it was a moving ceremony. This has been a deadly year already for Law Enforcement. Most notably the incidents in Pittsburgh and Oakland. However it was the Oakland incident that outraged me as I saw the monsters supporting the murderer Lovell Mixon. I have begun a fundraiser for the 10 fatherless children of these four slain men. I had great success in Springfield selling "Support Oakland" t-shirts. Please see my website www.memorialshirts.org. All proceeds are going to Oakland P.D Officers Association at the end of May. Thank you all and be safe.

WHAT SORT OF SHIT IS THIS?!?!?

On the eve of the beginning of Police Week, in which the country pays homage to the fallen men and women of Law Enforcement, this coward Obama and his pimp Attorney General have decided to slash almost in half a benefits program for the families of slain police and public safety officers from $110 million to $60 million. Of course, he set up a $one billion dollar program to develop or rehabilitate housing for the poor.

On the 13th of May every year, a candlelight vigil is held at the National Law Enforcement Memorial, usually addressed by the Attorney General. It has been announced that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder will deliver the keynote address and lead the lighting of candles and reading of the names of the fallen officers. In addition to the 133 officers killed in the line of duty during 2008, the ceremony will honor another 254 officers who died in previous years but whose stories had slipped through the cracks of history.

Two days later, the FOP has a formal wreath-laying on the steps of the U.S. Capital which is usually attended by the President. Will this man have THE GALL to face the thousands of men and women of law enforcement after giving them a profound slap in the face with these proposed cuts??? Will he put on his rubber smile mask and talk about "Hope", "belt tightening" and "Change" that resulted in the spitting in the faces of the family of slain cops and the redistributing of money to the so-called poor?

This POS has the mark of Satan on him. Daley has mentored him into knowing how to shave money off here and there, to cut in your buddies and political allies and, most importantly, how to lie about all of it with a big smile on his face making everyone feel like it's gonna be a good thing in the end. Can a Rezko release be far behind?

Wouldn't it be nice if..... This coward and scumbag Father Fellater can run the United States flag upside down to supposedly "bring attention" to the CPS murder problem. WHAT IF on the 15th of May, in front of the national and international press, when Obama begins his speech, the entire audience of professional law enforcers were to "bring attention" to the fact that they've just been kicked in the balls by performing an ABOUT FACE and present their backsides to Mr. Obama? Imagine the clamor as the cops turn their backs on Obama just as he's certainly turned his backs to us???

At least he wouldn't have to look at our faces while he and this liberal administration stabs us in our backs.

Let us also not forget the two sheriff deputies murdered late April in Florida. 2009 is certainly a bad year for L.O.D. deaths in the nation.
