Opportunistic Pandering
As she contemplates a run for governor next year, Illinois Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan is wading into the hot-button issue of Chicago's parking meter lease.
Madigan's office has launched a consumer fraud investigation into the recent privatization of the city's 36,000 parking meters.
Today, a Madigan spokeswoman said the office sent subpoenas about two weeks ago to three companies involved in the controversial lease deal, which ushered in dramatic parking rate hikes across the city.
"We're looking for information related to the transaction and implementation of the system to determine if consumers were defrauded," spokeswoman Robyn Ziegler said.
[...] When asked if Madigan was also investigating the city officials who quickly approved the deal, including Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Ziegler responded, "No, we're not investigating the city." The City Council voted overwhelmingly to approve the deal in December, despite having little time to consider it before it was brought up for a vote.

SCC,I can't help but wonder if she got the idea frm you. A comment was made on the order of: Watch DALEY use the broken meters as an excuse to cancel the meter contracts. Seems Lisa Madigan is a better SCC reader than Daley and took the idea for herself. Not sure, just sayin'.

O.T.--Scc I just wanted to inform the men and women in blue of a new tool used by IPRA that I had the misfortune of being one of the first to receive apparently.
I received a Non-disciplinary Intervention Report today from my Sgt. Now, I realize other coppers may have gotten this bullshit already, but it was a first for me and all the coppers I work with.
In essence it was a verbal beef from some gang banging animal that rather than hit me with a CR, IPRA created this instead. By no means am I complaining about gettin this Report as opposed to the CR, but I still found it suspicious.
I contacted the FOP and was told to not sign the allegation if I didn't feel comfortable doing so. Furthermore, FOP had not heard of any other of these so called "reports" and thought negotiation was still ongoing with IPRA to commence with these reports. I in turn declined to sign said report.
I just wanted to now if any other coppers were served with this bullshit yet or if anyone had any further info?? Thanks
Its called an NI number. they have been around for the last 5 yrs or so. its strictly for verbal abuse, if the officer can be identified..i.e. badge,name. basically no investigation you are just guilty. dont ever sign it.

Daley and his cronies were laughing all the way to the bank. How much of this money has already fallen through the cracks.

A little OT...So I am sitting outside of Bernie's yesterday before the game and I notice a car parked in the tow away zone. It happens to have a TMA jacket thrown over the front seat.
So, let me get this straight. They were ticketing MARKED squad cars for this same situation?

I was at Loyola Park in Rogers Park on Saturday. All the parking meters are covered up with orange cloth. I'm not a huge fan of Ald. Moore, but him standing up for the "little" people who use the parks in Rogers Park impressed me.
