How's That Economy Richie?

  • Hotel occupancy and average daily room rates have posted double-digit percentage drops over the first four months of this year compared with the same time last year.

The decline is to be expected, given that consumers have pulled back discretionary spending and tourism is down nationally. The catch locally, though, is that the numbers are unlikely to improve as the summer travel season gets under way and consumer confidence improves, because the law of supply and demand is off kilter. Despite demand being down, the city's supply of hotel rooms is on the way up.
Supply up while demand is down? That sounds like the stage is set for a price war with different hotels undercutting each other for the cheapest night's stay. And as sales taxes are a percentage of the final cost (with downtown rates being a point or more higher), that means more declining revenue.

City Hall has already admitted their revenue "projections" were more than a little "optimistic." We pointed out that their budget was based on fantasy numbers from the word "go." Daley's "rainy day fund" and supposedly balanced budget for the next three years is about to go boom.

No one from the west coast wants to go to Chicago because of the crime. Boston or NY will do fine thank you. Chicago already IS Detroit.

Here is an idea, give the rainy day funds back to the city where they were stolen from and put it toward the bills. I taught my sons this concept when they were 5 years old. It is ashame Daley hasn't progressed beyound the age of 5.

Same scenario played out with the private schools. How many of those private schools are around today? Remember when almost everyone went to a private school when you were growing up in the 70's and 80's? Then they raised the tuition and kids got pulled out. Attendance at public schools grew.
Each time the tuition hiked at the private schools more kids left. Then "POOF" the school closed. Same thing with this City. One day; very soon, "POOF" this city will default. Keep raising the taxes and taxing the residents. Daley; you schmuck, you'll have driven this city into dispare. We are now on the lip if the toilet bowl ready to fall in. Thanks for nothing.

Daleys rainy day fund is exactly that. It's his money, for his rainy days. He has no intention of using it to benefit the Tax Paying Citizens of Shitcago. He has some family members who'll be needing to profit from his shady schemes. Daley just needs time to set up the scam(s), and insulate himself from any liability.

Yes, the Tax Paying Citizens of Shitcago Got nothing !!!!!! Just a Fuck head mayor and 50 clowns to be yes men. $120,000.00 a year to be a puppet for Daley ! Kukla and Ollie were never paid that much !

I get the feeling that Da Mare's "rainy day" fund doesn't include the citizens of Chicago and more than likely won't extend past first cousins when it's time to divie up!

Thank's for your cards and letters. I have done the responsible thing and have fattened myself up over the years with wads of cash for a rainy day. If you people haven't done the same, it's not my fault!

The Daley Crime Empire is always available for new business. Stop in, propose a scam that will make the prick and his evil cabal richer and make a donation and they will look into your idea.

Remember though! You must do the work, you must face the Federal Prosecutor, and Shortshanks must have plausible deniability. Oh, and you and all of your friends must keep him in the Mayor's office.

Who's the schmuck now ? ? ? ? ? ?

Just wondering how the "water" tax this geniuses invented is doing. I'd love to see a comp. on water sold in the city PRE tax and POST tax and see if the city hurt itself by such a stupid decision.

Slightly off topic but per the Sun Times article(yeah sorry) Vanecko after fleecing our pension fund to buy various properties created a property management company that has charged five city pension funds $353,720 to manage the properties!

Have I gone totally insane?

The Daley appointed jagoffs on OUR pension board gives his nephew millions to invest in real estate in order for HIM to make money.

After purchasing all this real estate he says Hey! Let's form a property management company and CHARGE OUR PENSION FUND FOR THE UPKEEP OF HIS PROPERTY.

How in heavens name is this legal. Why should the pension fund pay the management company. He got the loan. He owns the property. He should pay for the upkeep.

I'll ask again. How can this be happening?

Fucking criminals!

So when does the revolution start? I say law-abiding citizens, CPD and other city departments get together and surround city hall and demand Daley's resignation. Otherwise, we don't let him leave. Who's going to stop us..the cops? You guys will be marching next to us.

I'm glad all our govermental representitives are strong economists. Not a single retard in the bunch understands the most basic and rudimentary priciple of our faultering economy. Yet they continue to push the envelope in the direction of guarenteed faliure.

They work for us. Not the other way around. When are we going to demand a goverment of the people, by the people and for the people?

The parking meter robbery was a huge hit to downtown business and I don't think they know how bad it really is. I know many including myself that now drive to the burbs and park for free to go shopping. it's just not worth it to shop in the city anymore. Go to the surrounding counties and pay less tax too.

It sounds like a good idea to stay at some hotel or motel out of Chicago or Cook County and just go into Chicago for specific things.

I wanted to answer Anonyous at 12:37 AM re the private schools. I was a teacher in a Catholic School and out pay was about half of the public school teachers. I also taught in CPS. Some wasn't bad, but when I taught on the East side I thought I was going to lose my mind.

But, I digress. Before the Catholic schools had nuns teaching. I think the parish paid about $30 a month for each nun. The motherhouse covered some things, I think. The schools were able to keep their cost down because their expenses were a lot less. As there became fewer and fewer nuns available, they had to hire lay teachers and pay their social security, insurance and things like that. Then their cost began to rise and they had to charge more tuition. Now there are hardly any nuns teaching and everything is lay teachers. Now their costs are very high so they have to charge more in tuition. Most of the lay teachers are very dedicated. If they weren't, they would be looking for higher paying jobs. I worked in school where we didn't know if we would get paid if the collection wasn't enough.

My kids went to parochial schools. I thought it was important. I didn't live in Chicago. I had four kids in school, three in high school and one in elementary school. A night out for us was to visit someone in the hospital or a wake. We could afford nothing extra.

I went to work in the public school and my salary almost doubled. I enjoyed working in public schools for a while. It was OK till I had to work on the east side, then I hated it and had to retire. I worked on 26th Street in Little Village, 47th and Ashland, around 59th and Kedzie. So I was never in the better neighborhoods.

Again, I digress, but that is why the private schools had to raise their tuition so much.

If we have a rainy day fund, doesn't that mean that you over taxed me? I want my change you short, fat, smelly, greasy, stupid, thieving low life mother fucker.

That rainy day fund is for you to steal for your criminal friends and family network. Go fuck yourself. Your presence at that funeral was a slap in the face to all the cops in attendance. You sicken me you rotten piece of shit.

Rumor has it that shortshanks has commissioned a marble statue depicting him as the Greatest Mayor in Chicago's history. The estimated cost is $50,000,000.00
As is the case with all Dufus daley projects, the final cost will be closer to $300,000,000.00
The statue is expected to be completed in early 2016./

Now we know what that "Rainy Day Fund" is all about.

It costs $11 dollars to spend $10 in Chicago. 22 to spend 20, 33 to spend 30, etc. If I spend any time there I'll spend $100 and I can't afford to pay $110 bucks to spend $100. That's a tank of gas or a couple gallons of milk. You're not the only fish in the sea.
