Please be careful. Always back up other officers even if its not your call ride on it to help out. Screw the city and the savages Mayor mumbles Jfraud and the whole exempt staff, city council have shown they dont care about PO's. Right as many reports as possible for all the BS calls, get lunch get gas drive by a park and get an event# go home to your family. Being the police will only get you suspended sued fired or indicted,it aint worth it anymore.
Keep your heads down boys and girls. From what I am gathering on different sites Chicago is getting ready to explode. The barbarians have breached the walls and the pols do NOTHING. This has been a long time coming. This is systemic going back to the 70's and even before then. After 30 years OTJ (retired for 6) I fear for your safety.

There was a police shooting at 119 and vincennes that they missed altogether. Good job by the area two Sat team and gun team. two robbers using a web based message board to set up victims.
Something I've experienced more lately than any other time in my 15 years: arrestees fighting like mad while screaming "I'm not resisting" or other bullshit designed to incite the neighborhood. I've heard it before, but it seems like lately it is every arrest.
Do they practice this shit or what? Screaming "PLEASE STOP HURTING ME OFFICER" all the while they are kicking, elbowing, biting, etc...perfect fodder for the Youtube generation!
I want to see a few reporters try and handcuff an unwilling participant!
Stay safe...things are worse than I've ever seen them!

As much as this may not be a popular opinion, you cant have it both ways. You cant expect to lay down on this job for whatever reason and expect there not to be consequences. Dont think that for a minute that some of these shootings may have something to do with the fact that the police are not putting the fear into the bad guys anymore. There is no one out there to put them in check anymore. Because all of the real workers are either scared to do anything for fear of getting in trouble or they wised up after being put in the program, threatened with having their names put in the papers for Cr's or for other various reasons. You wanna fix this dept. Jody, do something to reassure the real workers that they can be the police again.

OT but Important!!! We should all give a big thanks to Mike Shields on our pension board for the work he has done in such a short time. He wrote a great piece in the FOP news letter about the Daley "I didn't know" corruption scam with our pension. Hopefully some of the media types that are looking into the Daley corruption will read it too. Shields is the only one that has brought to light the Daley corruption with our pension. Hopefully the retiree's vote out the corrupt Daley "yes man" Hauser and the LT's get rid of Maphoney the other Daley "yes man"! Keep up the great work Mike!!!!
What's up w/ Area One Dick in the red car that keeps riding on jobs in 008? Don't answer. I used to think he was a know it all ahole, but when he's the only back up to wild ass calls, I'm beginning to appreciate him. Thanks for having our backs.
We need to start USING those rifles we supposedly are carrying! Every crime scene needs to be LOCKED DOWN, not just taped off. POs with rifles facing outward while the paper car and crime scene car handles their job. Of course, that would require several more cars to respond to each crime scene...so what about TRU and MSF??? Then at least when the skinnies fire at us we can return fire while handling our business. Damn, this is the same shit we did in Iraq...hmm.
Not sure if it was mentioned in previous comments, but on Sunday night just after the 1st watch early roll call, a 007 district beat car was shot at while handling a domestic at 68/Winchester. The bad guy made good his escape just after, not sure if he's been picked up or positively identified for that matter
And the real kick in the balls about it all, is that the A/1 dic handling it tries to make it an "on view" shots fired. All so he can lighten his work load. My partner and I were working in 007 that night and having heard the PO's calling it out, they seemed pretty sure the shots were directed at them. Having worked in 007 for a while, I can say that I've rarely come across a dic from A/1 who would try to write himself out of a job of any kind. It's truly sad that we have people like this working, and also being promoted

Many more people than you think. Stop buying into the media and the criminal element's hatred for the police - the citizens still appreciate you.
But more than that, look at some of the other comments - even if you don't give a shit about the job anymore (and this citizen couldn't blame you; you have been crapped on by the City, the Media, AND your own union) - you have to bust your ass for your partners.

Some people do care. But the solution is not real simple. It would require the electorate to get incensed and throw out the crooks in power.
Voters in Chicago and Cook County just are not that mad yet.
Policing is only about 10% of the solution. You can only do so much. For now, do what you can and hope for a better day.
But try not to fool yourself into thinking it is coming soon. Even if some of the current crop of crooks ends up in Club Fed, the voters will probably just elect new crooks to take their place.

I was at a homicide scene on 05 july and MSF did this with their rifles, they stayed on the scene until it completely cooled off. It's nice to see something more than red and yellow tape protecting the scene from the animals.

Possibly the most accurate statement that can be made about this. There is a cause and effect relationship with everything. In this situation there are multiple causes. The $#*@heads adapt quickly. Unfortunately they also have some intelligence. They learn from the internet, jail-time, and the Media. They know that their 'mistreatment by Da Poleece" will be overblown and exploited by any loud mouth liberal or storefront preacher(Phlager/Jackson)and their voices grow and becomen very loud. This inturn dictates Department policy, and we(the Police) are further restrained. The tightened leash then destroys morale, this ultimately leads to De-Policing. JUST WHAT THESE ASSHOLES WANT TO SEE. Bottom line: Do the basics, stay safe and let them have this Goddamn city. IT will look like Gary or Detroit in due time.
On Saturday afternoon a Sgt from 006 was shot AT no shots fired back.
Saturday night - early Sunday morning shooting outside the 50yrd line police are there and take action offender turns gun on them and shoots at police they fire back hit jagbag once.
In 006 we have broke ass pool cars that will never be used with a gun rack and GPS. WTF?

OFF TOPIC BUT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED:
Last night in the 006th District there was call of shots fired with a vehicle description. A TRU unit observed matching vehicle, curbed it, and during field interview found that the person/vehicle was not involved. The subject was cooperative and should have ended with a contact card.
BUT..... This is when the "cousin" of the subject stopped came out of his house (who is CPD and works out of Headquarters)and starts HOOTING and HOLLERING how he is the police (all though had no identification) and how they have NO RIGHT to be hassling his family member.
THEN....the "cousin" (off-duty CPD) then pushed one of the officer's. The officer's kept there cool and were attempting to explain to this shitbag what was going on. Officer then gets pushed for the SECOND time. Officer's then asked him to show his police ID and while one of the officers began writing a contact card on the guy they stopped originally the "cousin" became irate because he didn't know what a "contact card" was (so he MUST work in Headquarters) and puched the officer twice.
Long story short the "Cousin" (off duty CPD) was maced and arrested.
Brought back to 006th District where now all the confusion happens...... TRU bosses want to go full route with FELONY CHARGES and 006th District Captain wants to sweep this under the rug and let the guy go out the back! Commander wanted just MISDEMEANOR CHARGES....it was a fucking mess!
Ended with....a misdemeanor charge. Hopefully the shitbag is stripped but any of us that know how this department works knows that this guetto thug CPD officer will get sent to call back, then back to his unit because he won't get fired over a misdemeanor charge...then he will sue the officers involved.
Now if I acted this way off duty in my neighborhood to a couple of black officers.....I would be splattered all over the news and media.
hello all my brothers and sisters in blue..we have to live in this city for a long time to come. i have 28yrs on this job and have always been the working police, i work in the district that i live in, i work with some real go out and get them police officers, and we do this because we do work and live in the same distict. I can see not doing doing any work in the shit districts because if they don't care i don't care. but if you live in 05,08,22,016 and work in the district, then you better start doing some pro policing there, i know alot of cops do the best they can to keep the savage out, but we still have alot of cops that work (show up) and do nothing but collect a check. Im not telling you to go out and beat these dogs, im telling you to stop them for any vehicle violation and take that car, if they can't drive they can't be going up and down your streets looking for someone to rob or to steal from your home.if you see them riding their bikes on the sidewalks, stop them it against the law if your over 12yrs old..and then lock them up for that weed they have or the alcohol, do this in your district where you live. any cop can do an arrest in a hour. it just letting the savage know that you are there and will help to protect your neighborhood not theirs. please don't tell me that im full of shit, that the zone is to busy. any one of us can see a shit head and stop him and then tell the zone i have a on view arrest, you have to stack that bull shit job you gave me with the other 8 in my stack, im going in with one. the bull shit jobs will always be there and the dispatcher will always try to clear their board by giving you 20 jobs. We do stop the gang bangers in my district all nite long, and lock them up for any state or city violation that they are committing. please do the job in your district that you live in so we can take the family out to the store/walk without the savage fucking with them..just talking out loud, thanks I/f

This is also a time to consider a change in weapons. If you are carrying a weapon that you feel is not up to "par" with the bad guys fire power then change it. The new striker fire weapons are like fully auto pistols and give you valueable micro seconds on the bad guy, via trigger pull. Be safe and may God bless us all.

How about letting us know his initials or where to find the info on line?
I'm just curious.....People from other urban areas who read this blog....Is this par for the course in big cities or is Chicago unique? How is a weekend of terror like this handled in other cities. Are the police dealing with this and having their hands tied as the mayor and superintendent have done with our police dept? This is out of control.
There is also a safety issue with some of the incompetent officers on the street. There is a problem with brass that overlooks these people and allows them to continue on being the police.

O/T Great job by 019 on the cab driver kidnapping. As usual, got blown off by A/3 midnights three times. Finally got a day detective (former A/4) to handle the job and get it charged. Persistence pays off with a million dollar bond.

"They all left," he said outside the corner store where Dominic Barnes, 21, was shot and killed Sunday morning. "You didn't see no police. After the shooting, cops came back here."

Yeah, even in the "homeland." I hear parents saying as though it were a given, "Well, kids have a 'private face' when we're around, and then there's how they act in public..."
I would submit that the less difference there is between behavior in the home and out of the home, the better a job has been done raising the kid -- in making him a genuine, solid, consistent, decent person who will "ring true" in any situation.
Youtube, Myspace, Xbox, Ipod, DVD, cell phone don't matter. All plastic junk that goes "crunch" when the garbage truck backs over it. Integrity, on the other hand is priceless and timeless -- and seems to be in increasingly short supply.

The TRU guys acted in a racist manner and changed their story, their sgts acted in a racist manner, and numerous witnesses backed up the off duty idiots account. TRU is lucky they didnt get a rule 14 violation and a civil rights excessive force beef!
Everyone that lives in the hood aint savages and animals and a number of police bosses witnessed the melee . If the TRU guys want to push the issue and charge a po with a felony for a shoving match go for it, but be careful what you wish for witnesses, cell phone cameras and cameras are everywhere.

'O/T Great job by 019 on the cab driver kidnapping. As usual, got blown off by A/3 midnights three times. Finally got a day detective (former A/4) to handle the job and get it charged. Persistence pays off with a million dollar bond.'

hes a good guy. he live on the west end of 008 and every case where he has been assigned the dick he has always investigated every avenue to make sure bad guy gets charged. he is slow and methodical in his investigations and does a really good job. Im always glad to see him show up as a detective on one of my cases. some people give him a bad rap.... but overall a very nice guy and a fantastic detective.

I don't get it, if I had a T-stop and a person walks up to me I will become on guard for my safety, and at the min annoyed. Are you saying I should allow people to debate me on-duty if its an off duty PO obstructing an investigation?
Cameras are everywhere, however, I feel it would only prove that the off duty PO commited a felony. Have you every had a traffic stop? Let alone one that matched a description of a person involved in a shots fired call. On your next t-stop can I walk up to you and commence a conversation? Better yet, can I enter your office or Unit off duty and argue with you? Wow, by the way every witness I've encounter always see nothing when the police ask when in a blue shirt, but all of sudden they are corroperative, again BS. You have one thing right not all people in the hood are savages, I've met some great people, but to defend a copper striking an on-duty PO there is no excuse.

OFF TOPIC BUT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED:
Last night in the 006th District there was call of shots fired with a vehicle description. A TRU unit observed matching vehicle, curbed it, and during field interview found that the person/vehicle was not involved. The subject was cooperative and should have ended with a contact card.
BUT..... This is when the "cousin" of the subject stopped came out of his house (who is CPD and works out of Headquarters)and starts HOOTING and HOLLERING how he is the police (all though had no identification) and how they have NO RIGHT to be hassling his family member.
THEN....the "cousin" (off-duty CPD) then pushed one of the officer's. The officer's kept there cool and were attempting to explain to this shitbag what was going on. Officer then gets pushed for the SECOND time. Officer's then asked him to show his police ID and while one of the officers began writing a contact card on the guy they stopped originally the "cousin" became irate because he didn't know what a "contact card" was (so he MUST work in Headquarters) and puched the officer twice.

I want to remind officers that the academy is offering shooting classes at area 2 and area 5 called 3.5 hour firearms training. Great class. The focus is moving while shooting in low light. Siince we seem to be targets lately, I suggest you take this class. It's a nice refresher.

I had to think about responding to this for a while. I just didn't want to sound like an ass,but since you opened the can... You have two Masters degree's yet you can't put together a simple sentence? You have 15 years on I take it from your mangled attempt to write a coherent sentence. I have been in uniform for just a little less than you have, but not by much. How long (HAS) NAGIS been in uniform? I don't know, how long (HAVE) they?
