Everything is coming up roses at the Taste evidently. Just one little teensy little question someone might want to ask Shortshanks to really get his blood pressure up.
Why start the fireworks almost 30 minutes early? We mean, 8:50? The sun was still up. All the late arrivals weren't even at their spots yet and the show was over before 9:15?
We think we know the answer. We're pretty sure the Department brass does, too. Does Richie?

It could of been one of two reasons: The first is a new employee of the fireworks company didn't ask, "What's this button for?

Because every asshole in the city was gravitating to the Taste.
04 JUL 09 fireworks went off early too. Clearly this thing is done. Roving bands of thugs attacking at will. There isn't enough manpower to contain them..
We used to lock up a few and the rest would get the message. The lawyers have sued the Department into submission. Now we face the new reality. We cannot have this function safely.
Any tourists that had the misfortune to be there will never come to this City again. Instead of being an advertisement for
Chicago, it's a warning. STAY AWAY!
It was a great move. It kept most off guard.
Our moron mayor will gloss over this by saying " his weather experts told him it would start pouring rain at 9:00pm" "There was no choice." Incredibly, many people will believe this feeble lie. Realistically, would anyone expect him to admit the situation
was getting dangerously out of control? What better excuse than
Chicago's unpredictable weather?
All taxpayers(including myself) let the city burn while Daley plays his fiddle.
They knew they were losing control and wanted it to end as quickly as possible. They are now able to say that it was a success.
I saw a woman with an injured child who told me that they were shooting inside the Taste. SHHHHH! Don't let that out.
Yup... Divert everyone's attention away from the mayhem before too many people noticed and started taking photos and videos and calling the media. The Stuttering Prick was playing Three-Card-Monty with the fireworks crowd!!!

It was funny as hell having people ask me why the fireworks started so soon or when they were supposed to start after they were over.
Then the savages would act up and I just smiled. They got the point.
A few people thanked us for being there. It must have been pretty bad inside for that to have happened.
cause they knew that in another 30 minutes buckingham fountain was going to be renamed hamburger hill thats why. there were couple of gold stars shitting their pants watching the m/1 bangers gather up through whatever pod they were watching. visions of being dumped back to civil service rank of lieutenant spurred the early start. i was there
Worked the waste of chicago. Last I heard on the 3rd was 5 handguns and one sawed off shot gun recovered.
Fortunately fo Da'Mayor even undermanned and mismanaged from the top down, our guys and gals are doing a helluva job containing the savage hoarde. But having said that, anyone who wants the olympics here should take pause at the the incidents that did occur during the taste. Does anyone not believe that if the Olympics are held here these problems will not escelate a thousandfold? Let Tokyo or Madrid host the Olympics. Both have a more civilized populace.
Why even waste all of "our" money on fireworks! The cost is upwards of a million+ but then again it is "our" money to spend as daley as his criminals see fit!

Can the demographics of the UUW be broken down? Seems that 1's bring guns, 2's get drunk and fights, and 4's like to use knives.
What you guys don't understand is this: none of these idiots will be at the olympics, because all events at the olympics cost money to attend lots of money and they don't have any and are only interested in the sport of shooting people

I was working for a company near the lake and we were contacted at the last minute and told that the fireworks would be moved to 8:45 pm because there were a lot of problems in the crowd. The city wanted to get everyone out of the taste early due to the problems. It wasn't even dark when the fireworks started.
I went out to Huntley today to visit a friend and he told me he went to the waste of chicago and said that he thought he was in the jungle with all the nativie's jumping on everyone..i just smiled and said."i know" he said he will tell all his friends not to go anywhere near the fest next year..sounds good to me....I/F
I thought the Fireworks show was kind of lame and lackluster. Seriously, I've seen better shows in small towns. That was it?!?

Looks like the gangbanger uniform of the day was the typical white t-shirt and low hanging black or dark blue shorts.

Wow. How stupid was that. Nothing like 1 million in fireworks going off in the daylight.
Tulsa had a problem with their fireworks show, too. An approaching thunderstorm caused them to move up the start time, and a malfunction and fire ended the show after only 13 minutes. The Riverparks weren't the combat zone the Chicago lakefront seems to be.

Yup. I barely got the Channel 9 9 PM news on on July 4, and the lead story was Antwan Lewis standing there in front of a long shot of the city skyline, acting somewhat at a loss for words. "The city's fireworks display has already concluded," he said -- AND IT WASN'T EVEN DARK YET!
This is unheard of.
Here it is, short and sweet --
The City of Chicago IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED of about half of its residents -- and doesn't care what the other half even thinks, as long as they keep paying taxes.
I never bothered going to Navy Pier for Chicagofest, and never could figure out the appeal of the Taste.
Looks like it's time to pull the plug on it.

And 2's are the only ones who are held accountable for their actions. The SS Irish Parade is now over because of drunken 2's. But the taste, PR fest, Bud Billiken, and other "urban" fests will be allowed to go on even though the "participants" act 10 times worse. Heaven forbid non-2's be asked to behave themselves. Its the Liberal/Democratic dream.
I see they pulled the video. I guess nothing happened now.
