Because the eyes of the Department and City Hall are on the estimated 1,000,000-plus people gathering up and down the lakefront right now. The videos of the fights in front of Buckingham Fountain, the helicopter hovering uselessly overhead, and the citizens hiding behind squad cars while gunfire sends everyone running in different directions are playing out in their heads. And the tourist with the bullet holes through two panes of glass, four layers of drywall and impacting right at head level in his room didn't help either.
So as the festivities begin, remember:

If you want to attend a safe fireworks display on the 4th of July, go to Pleasantdale Park at 7500 S. Wolf Road, Burr Ridge.

SC: The city realizes the high-tech stuff is ineffective. They're posting signs around the entrances:
"NO ASSHOLES!"
This should do the trick.
Just saw Channel 7 news and they reported that a police officer chased a 16yr boy who did not have a gun ! and then shot him in the back. Then they blur out a mans face and he says the police shot an unarmed boy in the back.
Please tell me why are you still doing police work for these animals that don't care about you and hope that you do shoot them so they can cash in on a lawsuit which the city will gladly pay them and then Fire you.
If someone has a gun and is attacking your family then OK shoot him but when you are in the freaking ghetto and pooky shoots at mooky then who gives a shit!?

On furlough/vacation took the wife,kid and my tired ass to arlington hts. for (FRONTIER DAYS) suburbia's version of jane byrnes hoonkie fest! Best time for the money! Funny thing at the taste tonight. There was a 10-1 going on at the usual spot, the fountain, when someone got on the radio yelling shots fired. Almost immediately another person got on the air saying they were monitoring POD 1 and insisted that there were no shots fired. I think I'll take the word of the guy on the ground over a camera jockey. Sounded like they were trying to deter shots fired from being put on the air.

I worked with a PPO on Navy Pier tonight, good kid too. It reminded me how directionless they want you in the acadamy. Remember, these guys and gals need good role models to show them how to be the police. It went smooth for us but you could hear all around Buckingham Fountain and of course...congress parkway going up on CW 5.

I saw a very nice,enjoyable fireworks show last night. It was in a suburb near the city and it was quiet and peaceful. My family had a good time. I'm not gonna say which suburb because I dont want the SHIT showing up next year and ruining it for the HUMANS.
