It almost makes me cry when I think about how this country has gone down the tubes. I have always (and will always be) proud to be an American. How did Americans allow the liberal, socialists to take over and run this country into the ground?? Sadly, I think Obama and his policies is the begenning of the end of America. There will never be another place on earth like America was.
It was great while it lasted. We have turned out to be a disgraceful generation. We have gone from American Exceptionalism to a whiney culture that wants to be taken care of, by the nanny-states. One day we can tell our grandchildren what it was like to be a free people...

I cannot express the disdain I have for lib-tards that condemn America. The freedoms that they exercise in spitting on my flag and blaming my country for the world's ills are provided by the blood and sweat of the bravest people on earth: the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. If you think you can do it better, put on a vest and pick up a rifle, or move to another country where you would get your head cut off for speaking against the government.

Hi, I just want to give you a heads up that July 11 is the next date for the International Sketchcrawl. World wide, artists will be taking to the streets and posting on the above link so you might see a people working the streets in Chicago.

What happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence? What kind of men were they?
Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?
1. Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.
2. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
3. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.
4. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.
They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.
What kind of men were they?
1. Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.
2. Eleven were merchants,
3. Nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated.
Still they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.
Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy and eventually sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.
Thomas McKeam was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.
Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.
Thomas Nelson, Jr., lost his home to the British General Cornwallis for his headquarters. Nelson died bankrupt.
Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.
John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.
So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently or not so silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Not only is the United States falling, the Sun-Times is gone.
The reason our country is falling at so fast a rate is the immediacy of information. Information is crammed down our throat via televisions and internet. We do not take time to digest the information. Instead we accept it as truth. A good example is the stock market run up in the 1990s. It didn't make sense. But, if you turned on MSNBC, CNN, and any channel that had a business report, you the viewer were informed that "this is the new economy" and everything would be alright.
If you want to blame anybody, don't blame the different races of this world. Blame the ultra-wealthy ruling class for our destruction. They controlled the media that shoved all the information you consumed right down your throat.

Barry Obama supposedly is a professor of the Constitution. I don't think he gets it. He complains about the fact that the Constitution only talks in the negative (What the government can't do) and not as he calls it, the positive (what the government can do)like spend us into bankruptcy. Unfortunately for him, he has never experienced tyranny. However, I do find it somewhat comical that the word tyrant derives from Latin tyrannus meaning "illegitimate ruler". Hummmm!

"so far" is correct SCC. Civil war is coming within our lifetimes. Expect at least 3 entities to come out of the US. All 3 will be plagued by constant internal strife. Unfortunately, geographically we will be deep inside the worst one, with the most brutal regime, and most savage populace.

when my grandparents came to this country. they brought along with them their culture and all the ways of the old world.but they wanted to be Americans.they left their country for a better life with the belief that if you WORK HARD you can become somebody. not feed off the government, not try to change the U.S.A. into a country it was never intended to be. they learned English and taught it to their children. along with life values and self respect. i cry when i think of the direction this country has been headed. i will retire in the land of my grandparents and raise my children in a land that VALUES LIFE.

On January 8th, the Huffington Post printed an article bitching about Obama saying it so MUCH. Maybe you haven't been listening.
Google the article. It's a good one, outlining the fact that, until Reagan, no one ever used that term in speeches. Not Washington, not Lincoln, not Jimmy Carter.
As the article goes on to say, Reagan began using it as a signal the speech was now over. That's not a stellar commendation for using that particular phrase.
By the way, this is one STELLAR country. We're very fortunate. Happy birthday to us - and many, many more...

Hitler didn't 'declare' the VW 'The People's Car.' VW didn't exist until Hitler created it. Hitler didn't 'take over' an existing car company, he created it and guided it himself, quite successfully. It was one of his personal projects. The name Volkswagen(folk wagon) itself means people's car. So Hitler was capable of promising something and then delivering it in a efficient manner...I wouldn't give Obama the same credit.
Obama isn't a fascist. Obama is a one world government communist. Obama is Stalin...and which wildly popular car did Stalin build that survives until this day as a successful company? I get around a lot. I travel, work,talk, and observe people in this country. Most are totally involved with celebrities, Obama, being one. I am sad to say that most people cannot see what's coming. They have no knowledge of history, and the way governments are formed. If they did they would understand that this country has the most perfect form of government possible.
It's being changed right before their very eyes, and they don't care. They think that it will all work out in the end. Once the working people are drained of their funds, the Party is Over.
After Obama's two terms, His Wife will run for president, and win.

I was in the 8th grade 45 years ago. We had to pass the Constitution test, really pass it, and also recite from memory the Gettysburg Address.
Today it would probably be enough if a student could even tell you what the Gettysburg Address was.
Most think it is a street address of a guy named Gettysburg.
