Going on the medical one day before retirement and keeping the squad?! Was told somebody high up saw him driving the wifey to work downtown one too many times in his exempt squad. When Brown confronted him his excuse was nobody told me I had to turn it in. WTF?? He got 38 years on the job and he don't know he can't keep the squad when on medical?! F him.
Another example of an exempt getting away with somethin that a PO would be fired after being criminally charged. Why no medical check on anexempt gone with a department vehicle over 6 months? And he goes to the pump using city gas!!Nobody says shit, just tells him retire or you go back to capt. Double standard is an understatement. Exempt I guess means exempt from prosecution and the rules and regulations of the department. Any blue shirt doing something like this would be front page news but instead is swept under the rug in Jody's office. My point is that, she and her staff regularly monitor vehicle usage (how many miles per week, how much gas, how many times it is gassed, etc)

I don't like your tone. Not all former exempts are assholes. After my personal exempt car towing fiasco outside Water Tower Place, I only abused the medical for half a year, which showed a lot of restraint on my part. And one more thing. I took the bust back down to capt. with NO problems and in the end was sent to 016 for my good behavior. Some of us do learn a lesson or two.

It was done under orders of the civilian head of personnel. Our small unit had one car for 10 people and he deemed it was not used enough so it was taken away. If he gave it to patrol I could not argue but it was not. It is being used now a a personal car for someone. Now when we are asked to go somewhere we try and scrounge up a car from another unit and if we cant we don't go.

The Academy incident should be investigated as Violence in the Workplace - Retaliation. No officer should be moved for doing their job. If we continue to allow this type of behavior from the 3rd in Command, coupled with her criminal related background, how can you continue to claim we are connecting the dots to a better city or a better department? I want to hear these answers. That would be a start to say the Jfed and the Mayor at least have an eye lid open and are actually trying to support this department inspite of political associations or intimate history. Last but not least, what did the Problem Buildings Unit and the City of Chicago's Department of Buildings and Law do regarding the property since their is an ordinance that comes to play here, felony criminal charges that require CPD and the City to respond a certain way legally in regard to the owner of the property?
