Innocent Politico Quits
Of course, "quits" is the euphemism used when you're caught dirty as hell and called out by the Inspector General in the media:
- Mayor Richard Daley's personnel chief resigned Tuesday, less than two weeks after the city's independent inspector general called for his removal.
Homero Tristan, a member of Daley's Cabinet as the top human resources official, was accused of lying to investigators from Inspector General David Hoffman's office, which was looking into City Hall hiring abuses.
Tristan called Hoffman's allegations "grossly erroneous and irresponsible." But Tristan said he could not fight the charges while representing the city in federal proceedings aimed at reforming its scandal-scarred hiring system.
Nice to see Hoffman keeping the pressure up. Shortshanks' blood pressure is staying plenty high lately. Interesting that aldercreature Zalewski seems to be part of the focus of this incident. Does Hoffman have the power to refer cases to the feds like J-Fed is fond of doing?

By definition, any Daley choice for "personnel chief" must be as crooked as a corkscrew, not to mention being a pathological liar.
Dave Hoffman seems like the only bright light we have going on in Illinois.
But Daley knew nothing about it.

It's time for change! I've thought long and hard about how to put out a message that doesn't sound like a recent Democrat campaign slogan. Unfortunately, the simple truth is that there is no other way to say what needs to be said. It is time for a change in Cook County leadership. We need to end the cycle of fiscal mismanagement at the taxpayers’ expense.
The current administration is without equal in its hiring of unqualified friends and family members into high paying government jobs. The hiring of Stroger's cousin Donna Dunnings and her busboy assistant has defined Todd Stoger's, "business as usual" administration.
Aside from reckless spending, the current county pension system is set up to deplete county coffers year after year and with bold arrogance. An untold number are collecting multiple pensions or receive fat pensions for little to no work at all. As an example, Bobbie Steele filled in as interim president for John Stroger for a period of four (4) months back in 2006. She then retired after Todd Stroger took office. Because of this, the basis for her pension jumped from $85,000 per year to $175,000. For only four months worth of work, her pension will be twice what it would have been had she retired as a commissioner! How is this possible you ask? It's possible because voter apathy has allowed the continued election of substandard, self-serving, career politicians. The last election for Cook County Board President produced a less than 50% voter turnout, allowing a minority number of eligible voters to decide who runs the county government. This does not have to happen, and with your help we can break the cycle of reckless spending and endless taxation that plagues Cook County.
Thomas Jefferson once said "every generation needs a new revolution." With this in mind, I decided on the anniversary of our Nation's Independence to run for Cook County Board President. With your help, we can take control of county government by eliminating lifelong career politicians from office. As Cook County Board President, I pledge to lower taxes; I will fight to change the fiscally irresponsible pension system that is set up for our politician’s personal benefit; I will work to reform our government and make it more efficient; and I will eliminate patronage hiring of the unqualified and politically connected. There will be effective and transparent government under my regime. Lastly, beginning with the office of Cook County Board President, I will work to obtain term limits for elected officials.
It's time for change in Cook County and together we will make that happen.

I would hope that he could refer cases to the feds. But Obama won't allow the justice department to go after any of Daleys scoundrel, liars, theiving Mo Fo's.
Lets face it , we are totally fucked. The corruption goes all the way to the White House. That must be some really BIG pie these fuckers keep cutting up and sharing .

May I assume you will be running as a Republican candidate to replace the Toddler? Otherwise, many will understandably believe that you are nothing more than a stalking horse for the not so honorable Danny K. Davis (or whoever the Dems put up).
As the G.O.P. candidate in the general election, I believe you will certainly have the overwhelming support of suburban Cook County, "CopLand" and Lincoln Parkers, myself included.
Ironically, due to the gerrymandering of congressional district boundaries, racist asshole Davis "represents" most Lincoln Parkers in the House. Granted, if I lived across the street, I'd be stuck with flaming lefty Jan Schakowsky instead.

While I'm a political independent, when you live in the nation's epicenter for (Democratic) political corruption, any viable Republican has my vote.
The only thing I know about Dave Hoffman is what I read in the papers, and on this site.
He really has more guts, than anyone I have seen. He reminds me of Jimmy Stewart in Mr. Smith goes to Washington.
OT but this is also about politicos. Lt. Shields, recently demoted from exempt position, just had his leave of absence approved. guess he didnt like his rank or his retirement prospects with lieutenant pension. i bet that this first cousin of mich elle o bam a will return to duty after J Fed's tenure is over, get promoted back to his old rank, and be on the prowl again in CPD. sounds like a plan. i wish we could prevent it. maybe exposure will.

While we have never met, I just spoke with John Garrido. He confirmed that he will run as a REPUBLICAN for President, Cook Co. Board.
John would appreciate the help of all and certainly the CPD and CFD in his campaign to unseat the Toddler. While currently unopposed as G.O.P., the primary is scheduled for next February with the general election in November, 2010.
