Media Plays Catch-up Again
An alleged gang member was fatally shot over the weekend in an SUV registered to a man who was awarded a record $21 million after being wrongfully arrested and serving 11 years in prison, Chicago police said today.
Freddy Vasquez, 37, of the 2200 block of Kenilworth in Berwyn, died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was classified a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Vasquez was with several other people in a 2005 Chevrolet SUV traveling east on the 2400 block of West North Avenue in Humboldt Park at about 7 a.m. Saturday when a car pulled up on the passenger's side and people inside began shooting, said Chicago Police Capt. Marc Buslik.
The media should probably drop the "alleged" from the gang member tag. It's kind of obvious to anyone with half a brain what Johnson is about.
And yes, the Gang Specialist involved got tagged with $15,000 in punitive damages. The City has vowed an appeal and upon the hopefully reduced award, the cop won't be digging in his own pocket. If he is, be assured we will do what we can to publicize any fundraisers so the cop isn't suffering the indignity of this wholesale miscarriage of justice on his own.

i really hope the jury that awarded him 21 million read that story so they know what just happened to 21 million in tax payer money.. and im sure many of them are city of chicago tax payers.. so they gave thier hard earned money to this scum bag gang banger... this country is doomed... take this as fact... were all speakin chinese in the next 20 years.

It's not the Mayor, the Superintendent, the contract, the economy, the lack of good citizen's backing us or old age causing 'depolicing'. The single cause of 'depolicing' is the bottom feeding lawyers suing the Department and the Officers.
They have no scruples. They lie, cheat and steal with their offender clients. These bastards are bigger thieves than their clients because they have stolen the laws that are supposed to protect everyone and perverted them to make a buck stealing taxpayer money. When the some schools close or some other vital City service is not provided, you can thank them.
The Media feeds their greed becasue they think their sound bites make people tune in. They don't realize the public just wants to hear the facts.
The driver of the vehicle was Johnson's girlfriend.

For those of you who don't know your gangs to well. Beats 2523, 2524, 2525, and 2535 are Spanish Cobra territory. This area includes such local attractions as Koz Park, Mozart Park and the park at Funsten Elementary. Nice to know our area of Logan Square has finally gotten a stimulus check. The 21M. Dollar settlement isn't actually coming out of your pocket yet because Daley is raiding the police pension program. But when it goes broke, the tax payers will be handed the bill. Thanks to everyone at corporation counsel and city hall for doing such a great job.
So the LEADER of the Cobra's gets 21 million because the Judge wouldn't allow the media to hear KEY evidence and the Gang Specialist gets whacked with punitive?

This why you just give every one a report for every call you go on and refuse to arrest anyone without signed complaints. If a citizen does not sign complaints I no longer arrest anyone. Idont care about dope,guns or any other BS the city will leave you hanging. Im not giving up any money for these animals. Work 8 hours a day give everyone reports and go home. Let them kill each other and hopefully moron jurors that make these decisions.

Then you may be looking at dereliction of duty, official misconduct, malfeasance and a prison sentence along with the $15000 fine.

I don't know my gangs too well. What turf is Cortland & California, or Mozart & Wabansia? Respectively the location of the murder Monday at midnight of a 19 year old on a bike; and the kid's home. Somebody I know hinted that it was related to the Johnson situation.
BTW- Jeremy, quit calling the WC offices for information. We could have a quadruple homicide going on and are still going to tell you everything is quiet. Just stop.
