Quinn Gives Away More Money

Amazingly, even in the face a recession, he finds ways to spend taxpayers' cash on leeches:
  • Gov. Pat Quinn on Friday signed into law a bill to limit how much utilities can charge low-income customers and to create a program to let them pay bills over time and avoid disconnection.

Tens of thousands of the poor, seniors and others on fixed incomes will qualify for the program, which restricts gas and electric bills to 6 percent of a household's income. Advocates say many of these families spend as much as 30 percent of their income on energy costs.
Have none of these people ever heard of a budget? You know what we do when the cost of electricity goes up? We turn off the lights. We go from a 75 watt bulb to a 60. We jack the A/C to 72 instead of 68. We adjust to the economic realities of the day. Gas bills? We certainly don't have all four burners on the stove going all winter, that's for sure. We wear a sweater, seal the leaky windows, throw an extra blanket on the bed.

What we don't do is go running to government to bail us out. We take responsibility for our situation and we work to change it. Quinn ought to be telling people to do the same...oh wait, he's a democrat. "Government, save me! Government, feed me! Government, clothe me! Government, buy me a house, power it, heat it, and I'll vote for you all my days and maybe even the days after I die!"

My A/C is set for 80 when we are in house. Heat is set for 65.

Every day I question is it really worth it to have a job? ( I am non-cop by the way)

I am guessing that since I am a white male, I will not qualify for the many government free cheeese programs, but sure would be nice to have housing and food paid for by all the other working suckers, while I sit at home watching TV, hitting the golf course (could I use the LINK card to pay for that? it is a golf link), or just hang out at the racetrack.

The country keeps evoding the incentive to work.

I know your frustration with our governor spending money like an aSshole spewing diarhea.

In today's economy, I met people who lost their jobs and have no money. We're talking about middle to upper middle class citizens in Cook and Du Page Counties. They are no longer wage earners.

Because of previous liberal policies allowing slugs, leeches, and even non-citizens to suckle the government teat, we're broke. There isn't any money to assist these people..

Assholes like Quinn finally figured it out:
It's not he is fucked or is it she is fucked. Nor is it they are fucked. It's WE ARE ALL FUCKED!

And the big democrate liberal keeps handing out the free bee's and keeps building his voting block of dead beats. If someone gets things for nothing why would they attempt to work hard and better themselves? Now watch as they keep their doors and windows open all winter. Why not they aren't paying for it! This state could easily fix the budget by cutting just 10% of the free handout programs.

What a fucking cocksucker.

Soooo, it doesn't matter if they leave the heat on 90 and the windows open to sell their dope, they only have to pay a portion of their salary, that doesn't officially exist, to the utility company. That's great you prick. Everyone who pays taxes and actually has to worry about their bills bend over and relax...This won't hurt a bit...Now look for the 120% increase in our bills. Fucking asshole.

At the rate the economy is going everyone will be on a fixed income when they retire. Just because you are on a fixed income does not mean you are looking for a handout from the government.

When I read this article I almost went balistic. I can see the part about allowing them to pay bills over time, but not limit how much they can charge. You know damn well that the utilities will pass on the costs to the working class.

The other problem with these handouts is if you do not have to take responsibility you don't care. Crank the heat, open the windows to get fresh air. Give me a house, destroy it, move. Not my problem.

I once had a step son that we gave a used car to. Within a month it was destroyed. His response, oh well, I didn't pay for it.

It was amazing, once he had to buy his own, he took care of it.

Stay safe out there, a wife.

SCC, I agree with with you say here. However,I would like to see us (police) abandon the we Are Republicans because Demo's are just for the poor and raise Taxes and Repub's are for less goverment. I feel that the Truth is BOTH the Dem's and Repub's are just as bad. They both see whaich way the wind is blowing and make their decision accordingly. I would like to see more independence from us (Police).

Hey bud, there's quite a lot of senior citizens in this city, and not all of them were allowed to have great jobs with excellent pensions back in the day. Giving able bodied scumbags cheap energy goes against everything decent in my book, but don't encompass all those benefitting from the law in your cynicism.

I know quite a few decent seniors that live on ~ 400.00 a month, and they aren't criminals.

You're reading my mind SCC! But lately, in our household, there's been a lot of talk of how stupid we are for being responsible. I could never be any other way, but the constant rewarding of poor behavior and stupidity with my taxpayer dollars kind of wears you down after awhile. Not only am I sacrificing to make the most of my money I'm paying for all the assholes who don't give a shit.

Now why is it the politicians don't see it that way? Are they that arrogant? There was a time when politicians knew that the taxpayer was expecting, and had better get, a bang for their buck or there would be hell to pay. Today, it seems like the corruption is SO deep and wide that it has become an open air market where anything goes and they don't give a shit who knows about it.

Sorry for the rant, but, you would think that, the politicians would know that when the working stiffs are doing well they can kind of live with the bullshit they don't agree with. But when it gets to where that middle of the road taxpayer is now finding themselves going through hard times they are not going to be as understanding of all the useless assholes that are being given something for nothing. I know I'm not. So, rather than threatening to take money away from people who legitimately need and deserve it (like the handicapped) their thoughts should turn to people like Rasheed who thinks he deserves to be on disability because he has asthma and diabetes and drinks all day and smokes blunts one right after the other despite his medical condition? How about looking at all these little block loans for 300, 400K going to Ricky Hendon's friends that can't tell the g where it has all gone? Hmmmm. How about that?

The politicians don't see it because they don't want to see it. But I see it and everyone on my block and in my neighborhood and where I work can see it and we're fed fucking up. Quinn and Madigan and Cross and all those other assholes better start focusing on what makes sense or they are going to find out the hard way that people are not going to put up with it anymore.

And anudder ting...I'm reading and agreeing with the posts here. It occurred to me that the people that they are trying to help, the people that are on the lowest rung of the ladder ARE THERE FOR A FUCKING REASON! Stop trying to help THEM! They do not have the capacity for change, growth, responsibility, etc.

POLITICIANS NEED TO FACE IT AND MOVE ON! Put the money where it's going to matter. The fact is that the people who WERE the main tax base that are now unemployed or whatever and NEED assistance STILL do not qualify for most of what those people on the low rung are eligible for! It's completely fucked up. You want to majorly clear the welfare rolls? Random drug screen every single one of those motherfuckers on a weekly basis. The drop comes back dirty, you are NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR BENEFITS. Period.

Thanks, now I'm going to be aggravated all day.

What about Section 8 housing? Nice to have the Government paying your rent up to $1,000, I believe. What is really the ball buster is that they have been moving from the City, something Chicago PO's can't do, and living almost rent free plus the use of a LINK card for their food. Why can't they pay their utilities? We gave this country away.

You know what I miss? The world's biggest balls of cable wire. Those great big jumbled nests of twine dangling oddly asymetrically across the outside walls of the jets, four or five per building side. If I was lucky I'd see "crazy crack-head cable guy" scaling the twelvth floor, kitchen implements in hand, preparing to splice yet another happy customer into his sole-proprietorship cable company of the aformentioned name. How come the only ladder I ever saw him with was a five footer? I sure do miss those crazy cable wire balls.

Man, SCC, I totally agree. I am so sick of my taxes bailing out people who would rather spend their aid check on crack and malts. And the government bailing out everyone who doesn't live within their means. I'm sick and tired of doing without so as NOT to fall into debt or a bad financial spot, and then have all these jagoffs BENEFIT OFF OF ME because I saved for the inevitable rainy day. It's total bullshit.

Many people in this city are working in low paying job and live in old, run down buildings with energy inefficient heating systems, high ceilings and other structural problems. They can ill afford to pay heating bills mandated by their landlord who refuse to renovate buildings to be more energy efficient. I've been in old steam heat buildings where the radiator systems are so bad, the third and fourth floors are incinerators on a cold January evening. The tenants have no choice but to crack a window or sufficate.
I believe that cheap skate slum landlords should foot the surplus bill > 6%.

This welfare state mentality has got to end.

Getting an education, working hard, living on a budget within your means, ever hear of those phrase, Mr. Quinn?

Truly, Royko was on target when he said that the motto of the city of Chicago should be, "Where's mine?" I think that motto applies to most of the state of Illinois.

When will the voters realize that the Democrats are going to eventually squeeze every dime out of the taxpayer to support bumps on a log. Welfare was intended for people struggling on a short term basis. It was not meant as a way of life.

Quinn gives away money, but I'm willing to bet the working class will still have to pay more..either on our bills or in taxes to support it. How about this: If you can't pay your bills, limit your use of the resources? Generally when you don't have money to pay for something, you curtail your use of it as much as possible.

Just saying.

Guess who pays for the shortfall?? You and me...check your bills closely folks 'cause the utilities will tack on additional charges you don't understand in teeny tiny fonts. Either that, or our costs will go up because of our middle-class income. Quinn is on the Obama socialist agenda. Vote this guy out.

True dat. Don't believe in layering when it gets cold. They only wear the hoodies when out on the street. They run around in wife beaters in the dead of winter, women with tiny tees, babies in diapers only...cause the thermostat is 80 and above in the apartment, like they are in Jamaica or something. Been there and seen it all.

ANOTHER SIDE: I work for a living. I have never been on welfare. I keep the heat at 65. I don't have AC. In the summer I pay the gas company just to have a heating account (and if you cancel it for the summer months, you have to pay a fee to reestablish it PLUS what you would have paid over the summer months anyway). In the winter months, my heating bill has been as much as 40% of my income. In the summer months I pay the electric company higher rates because of the demand from those who do have AC.

Consider whether the utility companies might share some blame here.

Don't forget when the thermostat is set at 90 with the windows open in the dead of winter that they have a 60" HDTV with a Satellite Dish on in the background with no other furniture in the house and mattresses to sleep on.

No cooking in the kitchen, all food is take out or delivered.

And coppers sweating their ass off while dealing with the jobs in those shitholes.
