Not Now Lisa
The floodgates in Illinois politics opened Wednesday after Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan passed on running for governor or U.S. Senate, a decision that also improves the chances of un-elected Gov. Pat Quinn and likely brings more challengers to embattled appointed U.S. Sen. Roland Burris.
Madigan, who will seek a third term as attorney general, previously acknowledged she was the “first domino” in how the state’s campaigns would fall. Viewed as a prohibitive favorite for Senate or governor next year, her weeks of indecision forced a number of potential candidates to wait for her to make a move.
Having Lisa in the AG spot secures Madigan's and Daley's flanks from homegrown investigations, plain and simple. With Blago's corruption trial coming to the fore, it's necessary to have a friendly relative holding down that end of things. Someone else with more or less baggage could cause problems. Better to be safe than sorry. After all, there's no law that says Lisa has to serve a full term before moving on to bigger and better things, like cabinet posts in DC. Or Durbin's seat in a few years. Or City Hall.

Lisa stayed out of the Senate and Governor race for one reason: She would be unelectable. Her daddy angered a real important group of people. We call them voters.
She's remaining at the AG's office for one reason: It's easier to win as an incumbent.

Now in a state such as ours, finding dirty politicians is like fish in a barrel, ducks at a carnival, easy as pie, yet she hasn't managed to put a case on even one single pol! How can this be? She has worked consumer fraud and gotten the elderly onto her side. But not one single politician. The feds come in and snatch them up everytime the feds turn around but not little Lisa. Hmmm. I shall sign this one with my full name.

She is remaining in place to keep Birkett out, she's the only one who can do so. The democrats are caving into internal pressure by the blacks not to have her try for Senate. The Governor race in unpredictable at this point, unless a really strong Republican surfaces the voters (sheep) will put Quinn back in which he will continue to try to correct the damage done to the budget by Blago by raising taxes and cutting the wrong things. He will be the fall guy and it won't bother him. Lisa doesn't want to be the fall guy, she has plently of time to run for Governor when and if times get better.

I can't recall any state AG that ever paid much attention to corruption in this state. Its just not real improtant to the politicans of either party.
